I have had a weight problem all my life; I knew I was fat in kindergarten. Apart from a few unsustainable attempts at dieting in my early 20s, I continued to steadily gain weight.
By the time I reached my mid-40s, I weighed 220 pounds. Then I finally decided to get serious about losing weight and getting fit. I have lost 90 pounds and kept it off for seven years. And as anyone who has lost weight will tell you, maintenance is a lot harder than losing!
I started my fitness regime by attending gym classes but, because I rely on public transport, scheduling was always a problem. Once I got hooked on workout DVDs, I never looked back! I can exercise whenever it's convenient for me, and I quickly discovered that DVDs offer far more variety than any gym ever could.
I always look forward to doing my videos; it's my "me" time and a fantastic stress reliever. I'm continually motivated by trying new workouts and seeing improvements in my cardiovascular fitness, strength and flexibility. After a lifetime of thinking of myself as fat, clumsy and uncoordinated, I'm amazed to find that I'm far fitter, stronger and more agile than I ever dreamt possible. I feel so much more energetic and confident, I know I'll never go back to my old ways.
