Jeanette Jenkins

Qualifications: Nike Elite Athlete. Certified by AFAA. Studied Human Kinetics at the University of Ottawa.

Personal History: My interest in fitness developed at age 6 when I started playing soccer on my brother's team. I continued to play many different sports and won the award of all-around Athlete of the Year many times. My first job in fitness was at 16 years old as a lifeguard and swimming instructor. I began teaching aqua fitness classes when I turned 17; then, I got the fitness bug and just continued to take many different certifications in various methods of training. While I was attending the University of Ottawa studying Human Kinetics, I worked as a sideline trainer for the school football team, taping all of the players before the games and taking care of emergency injuries throughout the game. I also competed in fitness competitions, worked as a lifeguard, fitness instructor, and trainer while in university. I was busy ,but I loved every minute of it because I love fitness.

Workout Philosophy: Love yourself before you love the rest of the world! There is so much in life to enjoy and you can do it so much better with a healthy mind, body, and spirit!

Sucess Story: Tanya from Los Angeles, California was introduced to me by the producers of the Tyra Banks Show. They requested my help to condition Tanya's heart to prepare her for additional surgery to remove the excess skin hanging off of her body following a gastric bypass. Here's what Tanya has to say about her experience: "When I started working with Jeanette, I could only last five minutes on the treadmill, walking at a speed of 2.5 miles per hour. As I began to work out on a regular basis and eat healthy, I started to feel much better about myself and my future. I have suffered many side effects from gastric bypass surgery, including acid reflux, pain in my abdomen and stomach, scars, and bouts of depression. Surgery did not improve the condition of my heart, lungs, and muscles and, if I could do it all over again, I would choose to change my lifestyle, instead of surgery. I now feel like I have a new lease on life and I highly recommend that you choose exercise and healthy eating, instead of surgery."
