Qualifications: Certified by and a conference presenter with IFTA, ACE, AFAA, AEA, and AAAI/ISMA.
Personal History: I grew up participating in both dance and city theatre. Music and movement has always flowed through my veins. While getting my degrees, I worked at a health club, teaching classes and coordinating group fitness programming in order to supplement my income. This finally led to my becoming corporately-involved with a large chain of health clubs. I also began presenting workshops nationally for other organizations.
Workout Philosophy: To me, fitness means fullness. Fullness, like fitness, is not a gift, but is acquired one step at a time. It takes hard work and commitment, but the results permeate into every area of one’s life. My simple, down-to-earth philosophy of support is “if it ain’t fun, don’t do it!”
Sucess Story: My favorite client success story is 72-year-old Martha of Raleigh, NC. She has participated faithfully in my mainstream group fitness classes for over 20 years now. When I first met her, she was 60 pounds overweight, a heavy smoker, a diabetic, and had many other physical problems. On her 70th birthday, she came to class all decked out in a new outfit and shoes. She looked me in the eye and said, “Look what we have accomplished together. Now, I have another 20 years of fullness to look forward to.” As an instructor, it’s not what I can do for you. It’s what we can do together!
