IDEA (International Association of Fitness Professionals) Hall of Fame (1992) IDEA “Lifetime Achievement Award” (1991).
Personal History: A native of Iowa, I attended Northwestern University earning my degree in theater and radio/television in 1966. I worked as a professional dancer throughout college and after graduation. While teaching traditional jazz dance classes in Chicago, I turned my students away from the mirror and created a special “just for fun” class -- that marked the beginning of Jazzercise. In 1972, I move to Southern California. Five years later, I began training new instructors, which led to the rapid spread of Jazzercise around the globe.
Workout Philosophy: The Jazzercise philosophy states: “We believe fitness is an important aspect of well-being and enhances the overall quality of people’s lives; therefore, Jazzercise is committed to helping people understand and value the importance of health and fitness.”
Sucess Story: Jacqueline from TX - For many years Jacqueline had gone on and off every diet in the universe. None were successful for her. She tells me: "My life has changed for the better in every way imaginable. My blood pressure is under control. I now bounce out of bed early in the morning. I am on the go all day and don’t tire out. I sleep well at night. I don’t struggle to breathe, and I don’t park in the closest parking space when shopping for the new clothes I need from the transformation my body has made. I am currently three dress sizes smaller. I did not realize the change at first, because I wasn’t looking for it. I just wanted to feel better. I am on my fitness journey and feeling fabulous!"
