Qualifications: Certified by ACE. 1994 IDEA Fitness Instructor of the Year. 2003 ACE Fitness Director of the Year. B.S. in Exercise Science. Has 25+ years of teaching fitness in the US and around the world at fitness conferences.
Personal History: I began sports at an early age. I was doing ballet by 5, then I joined a competitive swim team and eventually became a national champion in synchronized swimming. My ballet training led to a scholarship with the Joffrey Ballet. I took my first aerobics class in 1980. As a dancer, I felt I was in superb shape, but I found I could be better. So, I took this as a challenge and dove into aerobics as a participant head-first. Within a year, I was asked by the club manager to teach my own classes. I opened ProRobics Conditioning Clubs in 1982 and they are still going strong! I teach class everyday in various formats and love every minute. I'm married with three fantastic kids.
Workout Philosophy: Getting the body in shape is the greatest gift anyone can give themselves. Part of my goal is to teach people how to discover the ultimate joy in movement and never stop dancing!
Sucess Story: When Nita joined my club and began taking my classes, she was six months into a recovery program for alcoholism. At that time, her confidence level was below zero. She was in terrible shape (her own words), angry with herself, and at the world around her. She now tells me that her participation in my classes - with its continual physical and mental challenges - gave her the confidence to keep pushing towards her goals. Eleven years later, she's happy and "in better shape than her 20's."
