Personal History: Aussie native Kym Johnson has made the transition from ballroom to judging panel and is currently one of four judges on DWTS, Australia. Kym holds three mirror ball trophies, two in the USA and one in Australia and she is the only professional dancer in the world to hold trophies on two different continents.

Kym started learning the art of dance at the age of three, training in all aspects of the performing arts including singing, ballet, tap, jazz, and acrobatics. At 13, Kym was inspired to concentrate her talent in the field of competitive ballroom dance. She then went on to be the Australian Ballroom Champion and represented Australia in the ‘World 10’ dance championships for two years running.

Kym moved onto a world tour of the modern ballroom stage show Burn the Floor and further grabbed Australia’s attention when she appeared in season’s 1-3 of the hit TV show Dancing With The Stars. Kym took the dancing crown and won season two of the Australian format.

In 2006, Kym arrived in the United States when she was asked to join the US version of DWTS. Her first partner was talk show host Jerry Springer during season three, where she won the hearts of Americans. Her other partners have included some of the most popular celebrities on the show; David Hasselhoff, Joey Fatone, Jaleel White, Mark Cuban, Penn Jillette, Warren Sapp, Ingo Radamacher and David Arquette. Kym has been runner-up twice on the American syndicated DWTS. In November 2009, Kym won the prestigious ‘mirror ball’ trophy with entertainer Donny Osmond and followed up the win with another 1st place in 2011 with Pittsburgh Steeler, Hines Ward. Kym has been involved in 13 seasons of DWTS USA.

Kym achieved her lifelong dream and made her Broadway debut in 2009, rejoining the cast of Burn The Floor. Kym has also enjoyed a successful hosting career, joining E! News as a ‘Special Correspondent’ for the duration of the 10th season of DWTS, bringing juicy backstage gossip while providing an insider’s perspective on the performances.

Kym has six fitness DVD’s out in association with DWTS, including Dancing With the Stars: Cardio Dance for Weight Loss as well as Dancing with the Stars: Cardio Dance (this fitness DVD is the highest selling US fitness DVD of all time). Additionally, she has been involved in Dancing with the Stars: Dance off the Pounds, Dancing with the Stars: Dance Body Tone and Dancing with the Stars: Sizzle & Groove, Latin Dance.

Kym is currently the host of STARFit, a fitness TV show, aired on its own YouTube channel. Other highlights of her successful career include dancing at Elton John’s 50th birthday party, touring with Australian legend Barry Humphries in his ‘Back to My Roots Tour’ as an ’Ednaette’, appearing in the hit Australian movie Strictly Ballroom and most recently; she participated on Celebrity Apprentice, Australia.

She currently resides in Los Angeles with her puppy, Lola and goes back to Sydney, Australia as much as she can.
