Qualifications: BS in Exercise Science
My name is Shandi Rooney, born and raised in a small town in Kansas. I now reside in Phoenix, AZ with my husband and two children, ages 6 and 4.
After graduating with an Exercise Science degree from the University of Kansas, I moved to Los Angeles to begin my fitness career working as a physical therapy assistant in Beverly Hills, CA. During this time I also started my own personal and small group fitness training business. With the success and hype about my training method, I was approached by Bravo’s Jackie Warner and NBC’s Jillian Michaels to personal train at their Beverly Hills, CA private gym.
After working with the best in the industry and constantly tweaking my workouts, I developed a system that utilizes cutting edge forms of exercise to maximize calorie burn and sculpt the entire body by systematically mixing various elements of fitness in one hour. As a mother of two small children, I understand the importance of a quick effective workout.
In 2008, I opened my first studio in Kansas City and it was a huge success. Two years later my family and I moved to Phoenix and I opened StudioMixx in Old Town Scottsdale. We will celebrate 3 fabulous years of business in August. I have recently just completed a three set DVD collection, Mixxtreme Fitness by StudioMixx. I am currently working on starting a second location in the North Scottsdale, AZ with franchising opportunities beginning in 2014. As a Lululemon Athletica Ambassador, I continue to work with other fitness professionals to bring health and fitness to our community and challenge each individual to be the best they can be.
Workout Philosophy: You have to get out of your comfort zone to get results!
Sucess Story: I see so many transformations, but my favorite story is about a young woman, Amy Moran in Scottsdale, AZ. Amy participated in a 30 day challenge at StudioMixx, where she had to participate in 25 StudioMixx classes in the 30 days. Her results represent the StudioMixx technique. Amy lost close to 9 inches (8.7 in) in only 30 days. However, she gained 4 pounds, but dropped 2 dress sizes. A very important concept here, stay off the scale and embrace your measurements!
