On my recent trip to FL, I found a pair of Fit Flops at Ross for $24. LOVE them!! They are SOOOOO comfortable!!! I wish it was warm enough to wear them out and about, but I do wear them around the house. Unlike regular flip flops which have very little support and make my feet hurt because of no heel, these are structured to include great support and I'm really glad I bought a pair. (I didn't find any workouts while I was there, but just this purchase alone was worth going)!!

well I bought some yesterday and they are soooo comfy! I thought I would wear theses when I go to Disney the end of August. I thought each day I will wear them so I can break them in before the trip. I got them at Rogan's shoes for 42.00. They have a deal buy one get the 2nd pair 50% off,I only had the fit flops so she gave me 20% off. I got the Brown ones. They are not the cutest but when I have them on they actually look quite nice!

Yes flip flops used to be called "thongs" when I was young also. I recall my mother saying once upon a time "thong underwear, what is that? thongs are flip flops" So there you go.
As far as "toning shoes" go... If it seems too good to be true...

got them early this yr and its a bit difficult to walk in - its not like normal flip flops - feels like u r walkin on sand and very comfortable

i think its worth getting - not too sure abt d toning (gym effect) cos i got it and den decided to start my exercises again so ...

but its very comfortable

thongs here in Ozland, forever (they've been called Irish work boots too ... I think the last 5 years ??? they've been flip flops ..

Mare- do you mean you wish you could order the FitFlops online? If so, they sell them at a bunch of places.
I originally got mine at Bath and Body Works, and they were having a sale on them online a while back. Bliss Spa online also sells them , and a bunch of online shoe stores.

LOL-funny I think I am older than both of your Bad and NoStep and we always called them flip flops. I lived in California when I was younger and that's what we called them. I had never heard the term "thong" until the underwear came out. But it's the same as things like "soda" and "pop", "sub" and "hero" etc.

I wish we could order these onlines.. I mean the flip flops. I hate to shop and even more I hate driving around trying to find something. If I knew a store had them then I would just go there.

NoStep, yes, yes!! I remember!! We used to call them thongs also!!!!! LOL!!

Along the same lines, I see where Skechers & Reebok both came out with toning sneakers!!

They advertise Get in Shape Without Setting Foot in a Gym !!! Tones the gluteus maximus, hamstrings, calves, improves posture & blood circulation, etc!!

How things are changed now-a-days! When I was young, many moons ago, we never called them flip-flops. They were called thongs. People laugh now when I tell them that my friend's grandmother used to go outside even in winter until she was 90, wearing nothing but a pair of thongs. (I meant on her feet--we'd been talking about winter boots. )

I didn't experience any "getting used to" time with Fit Flops- I just put them on and wore them all day. They are not at all difficult to walk in- even at first. I have the "tall" MBT's, and those do feel weird- I'm not real crazy about them (they probably actually DO something!).

I am wearing Fit Flops as I read this. A family member purchased them for me to try out (I’m considered their expert as I have been a personal trainer for some time). I have to say, I can feel that they do work some of the leg muscles. However, they are difficult to walk in initially.

I had to walk around the house and yard a few times before I braved wearing them out. (Note: you can tell there is a wobble board in them…they almost feel like thick flip-flops.) Now that I am used to walking in them, they are SUPER comfortable - no doubt about that - but tough to say whether or not they are actually working the muscle groups claimed in the advertising. I agree - some university studies would benice and some medical opinions about such products is important.

So, I don’t think they are a miracle but not a total rip off either….if you are just looking for a great, comfortable pair of flops to walk around in.

Blue Girl - they are SUPER comfy!! I just wish they didn't look so ridiculous!! lol The MBT's come in a lot cuter styles, but I just couldn't stomach spending so much on a pair when these were only $40!!

I don't have the Fit-Flops, but I have a pair of the Curves MBT knock-offs that are supposed to function in a similar way, and while I don't think they do much for toning the legs, they sure are comfy - much more so than any other shoes I've ever bought - albeit goofy looking!

I've been looking at the Curves knock-offs. Nice to know that they are comfy.

Interested, I went on their web site. How do the toe thong feel. Sometimes, that really bothers me. I am thinking of getting a pair.

I have a pair. They're quite comfy for a flip flop and I like them, but I'm not remotely convinced about their strengthening/toning properties.

This will be my 3rd summer wearing Fit Flops, and I really like them . They are much more comfortable than regular ol' flip-flops, as they have shape and some arch support. As far as them toning the legs-I don't think that is possible. If you have NEVER worked out, they may stretch your muscles a little, but that's about it (as in how Earth Shoes will slightly stretch out the calf muscles- another very comfortable brand of shoe)..... I do recommend them for walking comfort, and I'm always sad to have to put them away when Winter comes! I think this would be a good choice for vacation walking if you want a very casual look.

I recently got some HIGH HEELED sandal Crocs called Cypress- they are incredible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So comfy! I can shop for hours in them and not even notice I'm wearing shoes!!!!! (I wear heels whenever I go out, so this is MAJOR!!) I love them so much, I ordered another pair in a different color...............

Bad, I honestly didn't see this thread until tonight or I would have answered sooner...I don't have time to check all the categories but this was on the "main page" so I saw it.

Hi Bad...we are also going on vacation but not till Labor Day...I was thinking of just wearing some good walking shoes since we will be walking for 6-8 hours, 6 days. I never heard of Fit Flops.
