(Karen)

So many questions about rotations, hard to begin, suppose that's why 1 reason I can't stick to 'em. Wow's current rotation seems like it cld work for me. RubyRay's 'rotation' (50/50 cardio/weights) w/yoga added in cld also.

1) When posting your rotations, can you start with "What I want to Accomplish"
this will help me learn what effect dvd combos will have

2) How do I build a rotation & fit in all my workouts -- or more to the point, edit out ones I want to do, but shouldn't until next rotation?
This has been asked before, and I think it's related to Q1: if you know what you want to accomplish, then it will clarify which dvds you select

for ex. ea. week I want to do:
strength 2x
cardio 4x
yoga 2-3x
knee/back toning 2x minimum

but then, I want to try all my new dvds, and
I want to do step constantly, and
I want to do Ilaria, but I want to strengthen upper 2x/wk,
but I feel tight, so I want to stretch multiple x per week... on and on the indecisions go

I can't seem to set limits. And I don't really know which group of dvds will best help me accomplish my goals.

Goal: functional fitness/life maintenance
issues: medial knee pain (prob. IT band; hip pains (also prob. IT band). Therefor want to strengthen surrounding leg/glute muscles.
secondary issue: recent lower back pain when lifting my 2 yr. old. Therefor want to strengthen upper body.
third issue: need to be more flexible to reduce general muscle aches

realistic time available/wk:
3-4 eves. at 30-60 minutes (my only alone time is late at night after everyone's asleep; works for me now even tho I'm a morning exerciser by nature)

Re:New November Rotations? I am thinking I will try that soon and if I like it, it will go into my pile of circuit workouts for this rotation. :)

Re:New November Rotations? (w.o.w.)

 Hey SG-

I have recently started this and am doing a circuit workout one day (a tough one like {ExRipped 1000}5720^ for example) and then a Barre workout like {CardioBarre UA}5769^ and some moderate steady state cardio the next day. I haven't been doing this too long and my rotation was a bit interrupted by our recent trip, but I am going to try to do circuit workouts alternating with barre/moderate steady state cardio (on the same day) for the next 3 to 4 weeks.

Let me know what you are planning to do! It's fun to do something pretty different, at least for awhile! :)

Re:New November Rotations? (SG)

w.o.w - can you list the specific workouts you have been doing with the Barre workouts? Do you do Barre one day and circuit the next or how are you alternating? I just read your response on the favorite circuit workout thread and was curious. Thanks!

Re:New November Rotations? (w.o.w.)

 Hi RubyRay,

Yes, you can use a chair! You asked why I like Barre workouts? I like them because they work my muscles differently than all of my other workouts. The small pulsing moves are sneaky and eventually become pretty intense. I like the feeling of overloading the muscles, and these workouts do just that in a different way than heavy (or light/high rep) weights do. Every so often, I get the urge to really change things up. I tend to keep cardio in the picture, but I had been doing heavy weights with Cathe all last month (using {Meso 2}5645^ from STS). I had planned to either repeat Meso 2, or move on to {Meso 3}5655^ (even heavier weights-- like my barbell would have 65+ pounds on it at times, as it did last time I did Meso 3), but I just felt the need to do something different. I find that I have been craving the feel of endurance workouts and have found a few that I have really been enjoying (including {Muscle Def}5766^ by KCM, who I have loved for years- you have to try her NYC!). I have also done kettlebell workouts, but those didn't stick (for me). My tried and true workouts are: dance cardio, weight lifting of all sorts, barre workouts, step (more and more), some Pilates, some Yoga, ballet fusion workouts, some Martial Arts workouts (k/b and other slower forms that are used in fusion workouts). Anyway- I ramble... try some barre workouts! They're great!

Re:New November Rotations? (RubyRay)

 Wow, w.o.w. So interesting.

I have not even begun to experiment with heavier weights, been pretty much doing less poundage more repetition videos. Have not experimented with Jari work outs yet, but did try my first KCM work out today---{the shape of things to come}7602^---and I almost died doing it, but I made it to the end. Will try it again next week and hope it's better

I am like Denise, not great with specific rotations, pretty much choose the video I feel like for the day, but try to strive for a balance between cardio and strength. I'm a big circuit training fan because you get both in one video.

I am very interested in Barre workouts. There's a couple of fairly new cardio barre workouts that look interesting to me. Can you use a chair? I sure hate to spend the money on a barre when I don't even know if I'll like it.

But variety is everything to me, and although I'm not much good at planned rotations, I do like to switch it up regularly. I'm exploring kettlebells and like I said, also interested in barre workout.

What do you like about them?

Re:New November Rotations? (w.o.w.)

I find myself in a new rotation, but I didn't really see it coming! I am doing Jari-type endurance workouts and cardio (steady state and interval) and Barre workouts. I will see how long this will last. I usually start missing my heavy weights, but the Barre workouts I have been doing recently are giving me some nice results! And I am lifting weights, just with more reps and less poundage... I think it is the ol' change it up, shock your body idea...

Re:New November Rotations? I am up with the hounds at 4:30, in my workout room at 4:45 and then workout until 6:00-6:30. I am going to school for my masters degree two nights a week so I can't work out in the evening. Its a challenge, but I have enjoyed it so far. It helps to have a 12 year old dog with a bladder the size of a raison to get me up in the morning!

Re:New November Rotations?
