I have an old Wooden 14" step from the classic Firms I could use. I just don't like "step" per se. But if these are moves where you aren't "stepping" then I am ok. Thanks for the feedback and on my wish list it goes! :)

Mary

Re:Daily Check In Corner for Friday, November 6th, 2009 (Sam)

Hi Mary! LOL there is NO "choreography" per se in this workout! Even the cardio blasts were 1 minute of bootcamp-inspired drills (high-knee runs or jacks, etc)! And not all weighted moves used the step, although there were a few leg presses. I would think you could sub lunges for leg presses, and on the 1 legged squats you could do them on the floor. As for the high step burpees, you could do them on the floor (but they would be tougher!). I would think all the moves could be adapted to no-step. And in fact, the second half of the workout (IMO even more fun and definitely more challenging than the first half) no step is required. So in total, about 3/4 of the moves on the DVD use no step, and the rest would be easy to modify. Although one thing I did long ago before I had a high step (for this workout I used my Transfirmer, as it's even more sturdy than my club step with 5 risers) was I bought a rubber 12" step for Ikea for 5 bucks which worked PERFECTLY. Just a thought!
Another workout I have that is similar in concept to this one is Cathe's {High Step Challenge}7475^ BUT Cathe's HSC is way more intense. Although it's weird -- Cathe's HSC got an int/adv rating and Stephanie's got advanced (?!?!?!) Maybe I am just in the minority!
But yes, Mary, if you can get this one, you would like it I think!

Re:Daily Check In Corner for Friday, November 6th, 2009 (Gabytopo)

Hey gals, super late checking, had to do my workout around 8:30, yawn!
Today was Cathe's step from {body fusion}7411^, which I hadn't tried and it was fun! then did LC3, very fun workout and a total chest frier!
I can't do all the push ups on this one on my toes, but I'm seeing progress and that makes me happy!

Re:Daily Check In Corner for Friday, November 6th, 2009 (MH)

Sam: Can the step segment of {Ultimate Body Shaper}5736^ be done without a step and is it very complex in chereography (the step part which I would do non step-LOL)?

Mary

Re:Daily Check In Corner for Friday, November 6th, 2009 (Mandolyn)

Sam, I have done that one once and I too liked it BUT I need a higher step! I want two more risers for Christmas, as I have no step stool that would work.

Today was {BM2}7691^, I was pressed for time and had to get an all body workout in as tomorrow I will be busy with my son's b-day party and I know I wont be able to workout when I normally workout. BM2 is PERFECT to pop in for a total body workout when I am having a hard time deciding on what to do. LOVE IT! I think I'll always love it~

Re:Daily Check In Corner for Friday, November 6th, 2009 (Sam)

Hi Gals! I used to hate push ups! But I love them now, except for tricep pushups which KILL me. I try to do all of 'em on my toesies these days but RARELY make it in Cathe's workouts :) But one day maybe!

Checking in with another newbie -- Stephanie Vittorino's {Ultimate Body Shaper}5736^. LOVED it utterly and totally. It wasn't as advanced as I thought it might be, but there were tons of creative moves in it, and some of the intensity blasts were tough (most weren't). I think it only got an advanced rating because of the fact that no modifications were shown (push ups on toes, roll ups all with jumps, tuck jumps, etc) but it would be a great workout for an intermdiate exerciser who wants a challenge for sure. For me, it was "just right" :) Not so hard that I'd dread it, but enough of a challenge to keep me focused and motivated. I used 5's and 10's throughtout most of the exercises for light/heavy, but you could definitely go lighter. It had about the same intesity IMO as KCM {Bootcamp}5614^ or Firm {Get Chiseled}5553^. The moves were really cool -- and she had the plank/tricep kickback reminicent of CLX -- YAY! Lots of compound, lots of core focus and rotational moves. It worked my body in different ways than just squats and curls. I do wish some of the cardio blasts were a little longer -- some of them felt like I was just getting going when it was time to stop. But it still gave me a great, sweaty workout. My one beef is that the bonus abs is 6 minutes long -- yet all she does is demo the 8 moves and do a few reps. If you are gonna spend 6 minutes on a demo, do all the reps and side planks on each side! Yeesh. I LOVED Stephanie's instruction. Low ket, pleasant, but still professional. The pop-ups were pure fromage, I am going to disable them next time. Anyway, I loved this workout and can see myself reaching for it a lot :)
Cheers!
Sam

Re:Daily Check In Corner for Friday, November 6th, 2009 (w.o.w.)

Nothing for me today. My son had a day off from school so we went out for Thai food for lunch and then saw This is It (which we both found inspiring!). So, not workout, and no work for me today... but it was worth the time spent with my DS.

Hope everyone who's ill feels a lot better and fast!

Re:Daily Check In Corner for Friday, November 6th, 2009 (bk)

Today it was over 3 miles on the treadmill while watching this week's Biggest Loser. (I couldn't stay on till the end, but I know who was voted off, thanks to the internet.)

Tomorrow, I think I might do {Butts & Gutts}7711^, along with some gym cardio. And maybe {Cardio Combat Surge}5704^ on Sunday, along with the combo section of {Kick, Punch & Crunch}7535^. I'm in a Cathe mood.

Re:Daily Check In Corner for Friday, November 6th, 2009 (Ella)

Checking in today with {Kickbox Surge}5674^ and {Squeeze}7836^ (30 minute mix).

I also have a love/hate relationship with push-ups, and still end of doing some of them on my knees if I'm doing a lot of reps. Its supposed to be in the 60's this weekend - big cat will love it! Here comes some balcony time.
This morning I did {Extremely Ripped}5625^. There are alot of the same lower body moves - although I can use some balance it got boring quick. Also the part where they squat lift arms up squat and down - was very confusing. I did some stair push ups - I can barely get back up the stairs. Need to work on my plank work. Altogether I will keep with one in my rotation.
Went to my State Farn agent. Of course he tried to sell me other stuff but did go over my coverage (townhouse (inside only) and car so I have a better idea of what is covered and what I might want to add later on.
Donna D thanks for starting us out and take care of yourself.

Re:Daily Check In Corner for Friday, November 6th, 2009 (annoD)

  Hey y'all,

Happy to be back; missed ya. Didn't have time to check anything; going to work in the dark and getting home in the dark gets me down...sorry to hear DonnaD.'s been sick, also. Seems like it's all around. Hope everyone feels stronger soon.

Checking in with a 20 min.Tread warm-up, Cathe's Supersets with Legs & Glutes add-on: ankle weight section.

I'm off to catch up on all the news...I'm sure it's less stressful than what's out in the real world!!!

Re:Daily Check In Corner for Friday, November 6th, 2009 (Catster)

  Happy Friday!

Today I am checking in with a 1-hr yoga class and will probably take my dog for a 3-mile walk in the evening.

Enjoy your rest of the day.

Re:Daily Check In Corner for Friday, November 6th, 2009 (MRS)

MURPH

Mrs.

You are my inspiration as I TOTALLY DESPISE PUSHUPS! I never have like them, and as I get older, well, I like them even less. I know they are great for toning sholders, chests and arms as well as abs, but i just can't stand them! So to hear you doing traveling pushups, I say to you, "WE'RE NOT WORTHY!" (Quote from Wayne's World!)

Oh dear, don't let my check-in ramble fool you into thinking they were easy for me in any way, shape or form!!! Push-ups are definitely not my forte, and I struggle BIG time!! CLX has definitely made me much stronger, though, in my upper body, and I'm finding I'm doing more and more on my toes, so to know I am advancing, I feel better about my focus to try a little harder. Chalene insists that I will LOVE push-ups by the time I'm done w/ the program, so I keep hoping!! ;) But, thanks so much for your nice words! Keep trying - they WILL get easier! :)

Re:Daily Check In Corner for Friday, November 6th, 2009 (Laura)

A big get well hug to all our sickly ones!

I tried Ana Caban's Maintenance Pilates for Weight Loss today. Eh.... A few of the core moves were quite challenging, but this felt short and completely not a whole body workout. And, only a FEW moves were challenging.... I need to do something else now....

Re:Daily Check In Corner for Friday, November 6th, 2009 (sakina)

  Happy Friday!

I tried Element {yoga for Beginners}7915^ today.
