I also have Cathe's {KPC}7535^ but...I didn't click with that one, despite trying.... Being the kickboxing queen yourself, could you suggest a Kbox workout with seperate punching and kicking premixes? I have already received KCM's {K.boxing}5624^ workout in a trade and I am in love with the tutorial at the moment. lol I also like the premixes. Anything else with similar offerings?
I like kicking with a little punching in between and a lot of twisting for the core. Aaaah wishes and preferences..... lol Oh...and MRS..do you know if there are any kicking drills that give emphasis on balancing kicks? For example kicking with the same leg forward and then backwards or even to the side without the leg touching the floor? (Sorry for asking so many questions)

Chryssa, Wow, that's a tough one! I was going to suggest Kelly's k/b since it has both a premix for punching and one for kicking, but you already have it! I'm sorry you didn't click with KPC as that is one of my classic k/b workouts! What, may I ask, didn't you like about it? I wish it did contain shorter premixes in that one, though. I think the shortest is around 40 min.

One k/b workout that might fit a part of your criteria is Cathe's {Kick Max}7425^. Do you have that one? It's a good one for more bootcamp drill-type combos. Also included on the dvd are leg conditioning drills (that involve balance work that uses a chair), a Blast Challenge with higher impact exercises (airborne jacks, etc. I know how you like those higher impact moves! ;)), and a stretch. The length of the workout is 74 min. and has 4 Combos (basic combos - not choreographically challenging). I find this workout fun and since it's pretty basic, I can put my all into it. I'm not so sure it has separate kicking and punching segments, though? It's been a while since I've done it in its entirety.

Another suggestion might be Cathe's {4 Day Split}7884^. The kickboxing workout is SUPER fun - a little more high impact than KPC and includes punching, kicking, and great core work. Again, can't remember if they're separate, but there's a kicking section that works your core really well. It's only 30 minutes, but packs a punch! There's also 2 step workouts, a bootcamp segment that's also great fun, strength training workouts, and like, 20-some premixes on this dvd so the price reflects that, so this may not be an option for you, but thought I'd throw it out there anyway.

Oh ya, there's also KenpoX of P90X fame - I think this one might have the punching separate from the kicking. I only did it twice before sending to a friend to borrow, so maybe someone more familiar with this workout can verify that. I do remember it's very basic but I found it fun cause I could really get into the moves; in fact, I liked this one the most of all the P90X cardio workouts.

I'm not of much help, I'm afraid! I wish there would be more k/b workouts out there too, that separated the kicking from the punching! I'm still contemplating Turbo Kick workouts (w/ Chalene). They look super fun to me! :)

Re:Kristi's Totally Hot Cardio (Andelyn)

Chryssa

Andelyn how is the music in {Mission Possible}7548^? I've heard before that this one is probably her easiest floor cardio(apart from step) but is the music as motivating as in her other routines or is it...kind of neutral? I like upbeat, uplifting music and a bit of impact moves to it.

I guess everyone has already answered you -- but yeah, the music in Mission Possible isn't even something I can recall (of course, it's been awhile since I could do this workout), but I know for sure it's not bad. But as you had said, you need impact and this workout doesn't really have impact (which is why I like it!) but I get a great endorphin high from it -- especially from the step routine. When I can do both the step and then the floor routine together I feel like I've burned mega calories and it just feels great.

This workout (MP) is on the top of my pile of workouts I can't wait to get back to!

And now I'm putting {Totally Hot Cardio}7001^ on the pile too because I now can't wait to revisit that one as well! :) (and just btw, like MRS I don't do the turns and pivots on it either)

Re:Kristi's Totally Hot Cardio (Cam)

Chryssa, her music is good in all of the {Fantastic 4}7028^ and {THC}7001^. As, Slinks said she has 2 hi/lo and 2 step. I do not do all of her twirls. And, you don't need to. One of the reasons I like her combos so much is that she adds a lot to them so when she takes it form the top, it doesn't seem so boring. I like the challenge of "Good, I can do this one more time and nail it." I really hate repetitive choreography and because she has such a fun factor I never get bored. Her workouts, typically, are not longer than 40 min. I would really consider Fantastic 4. More bang for your buck and I like the choreography better than her others. But just my opinion. Let us know what you decide!

Cam, thanks for the suggestion. I don't have a step though and I don't intend to get one. How many hi-lo workouts are there in Fantastic 4? Are they worth the money for the whole dvd? If they are, I could get them both. Is the music more motivating in these than in THC? Music is a big factor of motivation when it is successfully matched with the moves.

Re:Kristi's Totally Hot Cardio (Cam)

Chryssa

Thanks so much for all the suggestions w.o.w. For years I've been doing drills and drills and drills and I feel that I've had ENOUGH of them lol.
Apart from my legs moving, I need my mind to be exercised as well by trying to remember simple combinations of movements, not very long ones but one movement combined with the next one and both of them combined with a third as a total for example, instead of doing single repetitions of one and the same move. That's why I am on the look out for something slightly complex. AAAAH ... I can now understand MRS better, when she says "if something is not fun I won't do it." Fun has to do with the cooperation of the body and the mind working together at the same time. In the past, while I was doing a number of plyo squats, my mind was wandering around lunch time thinking of what I was going to cook for the family immediately after my workout was over. lol lol.

Chryssa, I like Christi when I want to take a break from intervals. For me, {THC}7001^ was more challenging than the {Fantastic 4}7028^. You can up the impact and as others posted, her background exercisers do the more basic moves. ER1000 has a lot of cardio and some strength training... more cardio than strength. ER is all compound lifting, and despite Jari being somewhat crass in that dvd, I have decided that I like it! I think ER1000 comes off as more polished and more professional. I would say ER1000 is a must-have if you are looking for a tough workout.

Re:Kristi's Totally Hot Cardio (w.o.w.)

Chryssa

Thanks so much for all the suggestions w.o.w. I would also recommend those Jazzercise dvds as they are easier choreographically (and yet there is room to intensify if you want in terms of the cardio aspect) and some of the routines on {Core}5687^ and {Dancin' Abs}5608^ are very fun. (this is all the combos from start to finish - very little breakdown when you want a "quickie"!
Bonus Warm Up - 5 min.
Move Master - 7 min.
Behind the Scenes - 24 min. (I'm not sure what all this entails - I've never viewed it)
Intro To Workout
Complete Workout from start to finish - 48 min.

A few more details since I was paying attention to more detail today:

It's kind of a space hog and Christi stresses to wear good aerobic shoes since there's lots of turns and pivots if done on carpet. (I have puzzle mats and since I don't do the pivots or turns, LOL, that's not a problem for me).

Christi is always showing the higher impact version - the 2 girls in the back are showing the lower impact version. I cross between the two different varieties, LOL!

The different combos are briefly chaptered and you can always "next" to the next combo. I find this very helpful, since I like to just do one combo as a warm-up sometimes. Excellent tunes and I feel this helps with my motivation to keep up and keep at it!

She starts the warm-up with the first part of the combo (lots of grapevines and it is repetitious, but since she keeps adding in more "elements" as she progresses with each combo, it doesn't seem it).

I haven't done the last 2 combos for awhile, and I had to stay focused today! Sometimes while doing hi/lo and thinking I "know the choreography", my mind sometimes wonders - not so today - it seemed I had forgotten some of it, so I had to stay awake! LOL! It's definitely a FUN one once you get the moves down.

My suggestion is to take one combo at a time - I would have found it very intimidating if trying to complete it all the first time. If you are looking for more intensity (high impact where you can really jump the moves) you might try those Jazzercise dvds. The choreo is easy in them so you can focus on jumping. Also, Cathe has many dvds in which there is intense cardio and the choreo isn't complex- {Boot Camp}7545^, {Drill Max}7681^, and if you do step, {BM2}7691^ (I didn't find the choreo difficult, but some do. It is a VERY intense cardio workout, with lots of options using weights and circuits, or not). Also, the newest Jari is great! It has intense cardio and moderate but compound sculpting, so you keep your heartrate elevated throughout the whole workout. I love it, and am tempted to do it today, but I will see (I am supposed to do my last {M2}5645^ workout for this mesocycle). HTH!

Re:Kristi's Totally Hot Cardio (Chryssa)

Oh thanks w.o.w. I was hoping I would hear about interesting repetitions. You are right, the clip can not reflect the whole variety of the choreo. I am seriously considering to try my second workout by Christi after getting {Fit To Dance}7979^. I have my worries about how well I can cope with choreography though. It will be very convenient for me if the routine consists of chaptered combinations, as this will help me to learn it little by little and to remember where I can stop and repeat. I like that there is enough hopping as I find completely low impact routines not challenging enough. And as you advised earlier I will focus more on the steps without arms movements in the beginning. Hmmm... to tell the truth I don't like to move my arms...I believe this is the main reason I need the impact...hmm...

Re:Kristi's Totally Hot Cardio (w.o.w.)

 Chryssa,

The choreography in {THC}7001^ is very varied and not at all repetitive (in a negative way. There is repetition of patterns and movements in an interesting way, though). I think that is one of the reasons it is more complex than say, the choreo in Jazzercise. There is much more variation and the sequences are more complex (but again, do-able with a little patience and time put in to learn them). In the clip, you are seeing tiny pieces of the choreo, which is definitely not a good indicator of the variation that you will see once you purchase the dvd! :)

I can't remember if the dvd is chaptered because when I do it, I do the whole thing. I think, though, that it is? I can check for you later today.

Re:Kristi's Totally Hot Cardio (Chryssa)

Slinks

{THC}7001^ is ALL floor aerobics, no stepping at all and if you follow the girls in the front, you'll get twist and turns, shuffles and small hops, follow the 2 girls in the back, you'll get steady "keep up with the girls in the front" pace low impact BUT way much higher impact than {Mission Possible}7548^ .. love, love, love it, either way, you can't go wrong with this workout .. the music is outstanding, the moves fun and Christi as mentioned is the best cue-er, she can't be beat !! lol, MRS !! and there is a bonus 10 minute workout that puts the 2 - 30 minute workouts together ..

I have watched the clip of THC and I have some questions. First, is the main cardio routine chaptered, so that I can skip any combination of moves I find harder than the others? Second, it seems to me that the word grapevine(sp?) is repeated too many times,to the point of getting tiring.
I wonder if there is any other floor choreo by Christi that doesn't rely on this movement so much.
