Newbie needs HELP!! - Thursday, November 05, 2009 3:36 PM
Hi I'm new to Collage forum, but not new to Fitness, and excercising.
My name is Antoinette, i am 39 years old, and need to lose at least 50lbs.
Nine years ago i had my last son (2 sons in all) and i lost weight using the firm, i went from a size 14 to a size 6 in a short time.
Now i own and operate a very hectic business, and has put on so much weight.
I want to start and don't know where to start. I have a few of the Firms on DVDs,
i still have VHS, but my VCR got busted.
Anyway, i need to get some DVDs that will give me maximum weight loss. My first attempt with the FIRM was the classics and Pre-Goodtimes.
I wouldn't mind starting back with the Firm, but if i can get another system that delivers then i would be happy to rotate with this.
I am looking at Leslie, Callanetics and Cathe. Please tell me what you guys think. As well as what worked for you all.

Regards
w.o.w.

I just did Jari Love's new dvd, Get Extremely Ripped 1000 this morning, and I think it would be a great candidate for you to consider for weight loss. It can be as intense as you want it to be, and modifications for three levels are shown, making it great for everyone. I did the entire workout (81 minutes) using a step and I loved it!

Cathe is also one of my favorite instructors, but I am not familiar with Leslie (personally) and I can't honestly say that I love Callenetics (but I only tried Super Callanetics and didn't like how dated it was!).

Anyway, I am sure others will have great suggestions! I am happy to "meet" you and wish you well on your journey to feeling healthier! You can do it!

Hello Tonette~
"Everybody Steps" with Gin Miller and Leslie Sansone's "5K with a Twist" helped me shed  pounds. They both provide an excellent cardio ("burn the body fat") work out. The Wave is excellent for tone and as you prob know, weights improve weight loss. Remember that 1 to 2 pounds a week is a good guide to perment wieght loss.  Be healthy!! :>

Hi Tonette and welcome :)

Reebok The Step Video with Gin Miller plus the Firm Body Sculpting Systems 1-4 really helped me shift the pounds.  In fact Step Reebok was my first home workout VHS ever back in 1992!  When I gained a ton of weight and decided to get back in shape I did it with the Firm BSS's.  Now I'm back needing to get in shape again and I am using the Cathe Beginner Rotation (this can be found on her website). That being said, I still love my Step Reebok workout and my Firms but it is good to mix it up a bit.  I think W.O.W's suggestion of Jari would be great.  I have all but two of her DVD's (and fully intend on purchasing the missing two!) and they can be easily modified to the level you feel comfortable at.  I can't comment on Leslie either (although I do have one of hers on my wishlist) but I'm sure many others will stop by with their take.

Wishing you much success :)
