Hi jamericangirl  :-)  welcome to the forum and starting over again !!

Of course you will lose weight with those few dvds you have, you really don't need many .. that said, it can be nice to have variety when you want it .. any way, look at the check-ins, if you want to keep yourself going, these are really helpful to those who need a boost to stay in-line, the girls are funny and very friendly  :-)  and are very intent on "enabling" so watch out for them  ;-)

Welcome Jamericangirl! :-)

Kudos for starting again, I think we've all fallen off the wagon, so to speak, at some time or other!

You'll definiety lose weight the workouts you have - I'm still working up to doing those original firms that I have so I bow to you for starting back up with those :-)  Stick with it as you say time will indeed tell and in a very good way :-)

Oh, and as Slinks says, beware the "enablers" - they are deadly but in a good way, lol! I've got many excellent workouts that I'd never have discovered if it wasn't for this great bunch of ladies :-)

Good luck and hope to "see" you around :-)

hello all. well I hope I responded correctly. I have just finnished the fat blaster. i still stop at certain parts of the video. lol! anyway I wanted to ask a questoin. How can the scale go up 5 pounds when you start back ecersizing and dieting/ my mother told me it was water and to stay off the scale for a while. But it is very discouraging and depressing.I am 5'5. I weighed 215 last Sunday, I worked out all week ecept for fri. and I now weigh 220? huh? I don't understand? I know I didn't gain weight. Is ther something wrong?

Hiya Jamerican girl.

Your mum is right, you need to stay off the scales because your body fluctuates daily with water, hormones, etc and this can show up as a gain on the scales and really send you on a downer.  I don't believe one should weigh more than once a week and try to do it at the same time of day each time, preferably in the same type of clothing.  Personally I weigh once a month and that works for me as I used to get really obsessive about those numbers and found that my mood for the day would be dictated by the numbers I saw each week - not the way I wanted to live :-)Also, I weigh in my underwear, but that's just me :-)  As for the whole physiology of how the body works and what makes your weight go up when you've done everything right, some of the other ladies are far better equipped to offer you more explanation but what I can say is I don't believe there is anything wrong, it's just how our bodies work.  Keep going - I know it's hard especially after your scales have given you an unexpected reading but believe me, especially with the workouts you are doing, you will lose inches far quicker than you will weight (that was my experience of the Firm ) but in the end it's the inches lost that dictate how your clothes fit and how you look more than the weight imho.  The weight will come off, just not maybe as quickly.  I stress again, keep going please don't give up.

Hope I've put your mind at ease, even just a little bit :-)  Try doing a search on the Forum as I'm sure you'll find even more info to help you make sense of everything.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend and I'll say it once more "DON'T GIVE UP!" :-)

Hey Jam...74 (year I graduated H.S. by the way )

Until you have a few weeks building up your endurance and getting used to working out again, STAY OFF THE SCALES!!  That is water weight that builds up from the stress you are putting your body under...a GOOD thing.  Make sure you don't cheat on your meal plans, whatever they are...just don't treat yourself to 'a little extra cos I earned it'; that will blow it all off.  Try to cut out the 'bad' foods (and we all know I'm talking sweets, salty snacks, pastries (yum!), fast-food)  Don't cut your calories below 1500-1700 or so; you have to have energy to workout.   Educate yourself on nutrition, what your body needs to function optimally, and try not to waste calories on junk food.

Try to see this as a long-term project...not something to be accomplished in a couple weeks.  Think about this...stay on a reasonable meal plan, work-out consistently, and by Christmas (roughly 10 weeks) you could be 20 lbs. FIRMER. And that's allowing for the holidays but you have to restrain yourself and keep 'cheating' to a minimum.
