Time graph for Donna's Old School Dance Party

Classic hip hop dance moves and live, on-stage music by the legendary Sugarhill Gang with Grandmaster Melle Mel and Scorpio. Everyone is movin’ and groovin’ in this video, from Donna and her “homegirls” right though the singers themselves. Like an exciting urban night club, the loud rap/hip hop music has a motivating, contagious energy. Even if you’ve never done hip hop, Donna’s expert cuing, “one combo at a time” instruction and “sure you can” attitude make this workout both do-able and fun. You’ll burn fat to 80’s and 90’s dance favorites like “Roger Rabbit,” “Running Man,” “Snake,” “Ride the Horse” and “Temptation.” ©2003.

Donna's Old School Dance Party

Lots of Fun
This is a lot of fun. Great music--the real deal, not some lame cover. I learned a few moves for the club dance floor and worked up a sweat, too. Even my husband got into this one! - posted by Jenny on 3/28/2008
Music is too loud and the moves are not interesting
I bought this tape because I really wanted to dance more than exercise. After seeing a clip of this DVD, I decided to order it. At first it was fun, THEN it just got annoying. The Sugar Hill band was annoying and they were too loud. I felt sore the next day so it is a good workout, but I couldn't do the whole workout because the band was too loud and annoying. Also, the moves weren't properly explained. - posted by Bettie on 1/13/2008
so much fun, great music
This is just plain fun. I can't do all the steps, but when I get lost, I just hop around in a somewhat rhythmic fashion until I can follow again. No one is watching, so I can look like an idiot if I want to. I wish more tapes used real original music - it is so much more motivating and enjoyable for me. If you like to dance, try this one. It is the only aerobic workout I ever want to do. Otherwise, I'd rather go running and listen to some good music. - posted by Katy on 1/6/2008
Terrific!
I could not disagree more with the previous review. Donna's cueing is fine, and she always shows each new move at a slow speed before going full speed. Besides, none of the moves are that complicated. I think the point of this kind of workout is just to have fun and move, and this really does the trick. It's a great DVD to pull out on days when you just want to feel energized. The music is terrific, especially if you remember the heyday of the Sugar Hill Gang! - posted by CB on 8/29/2007
Aweful
The queing for each move by this instructor is aweful. Also, the music is too loud and she has to scream to tell you anything. They keep panning the camera to the Rap Group. They should be focusing on the moves not the singers. - posted by Ramona on 7/13/2007
Hot moves, non-stop cardio
I bought this about 2 years ago and this is still a killer cardio workout. The live hip hop music by well-known and loved by many Sugar Hill Gang can't be beat and the moves are beautiful. The pace never slows down and she does go 1/2 speed on new moves and also breaks down and builds up to it's complex finish on harder moves. You're never standing there, moving slow and lowering your heartrate. - posted by TouchRemedy on 7/1/2007
So much fun!
This workout just cracks me up - it's so much fun to work out with Sugar Hill Gang live doing lots of moves from "back in the day". I categorize this as one of the workouts I pop in when I really don't feel like working out. After about 5 minutes I'm having a ball and I feel re-energized. I haven't seen a lot of new workouts from Donna in the last few years (I have a bunch on VHS that aren't available anymore, and I treasure them). I hope she jumps back in and releases more workouts in the future with that special Donna flavor! - posted by Barbara on 6/21/2007

My All Time Favorite - Hands Down
I've bought MANY a work-out video over the years...my entertainment center drawer is full of 'em. But I've owned this video for a number of years now and must say it is my all-time favorite. I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys reminiscing about old-school hip-hop & is looking for an effective & fun way to get in 45 minutes of cardio. This will definitely burn the calories, help whittle away your middle and you'll have fun doing it. - posted by Erica on 3/24/2007
LOVE IT!!
I received this workout dvd a couple of days ago and I have to say how much I love it!! Donna has great energy and the music is awesome. I love the Sugar Hill Gang music. It so much reminds me of long ago (I'm in my 30s). I think the workout itself is soooo much fun and so are the dance moves. It really makes you sweat. I'm buying 3 more to give as gifts for the people I know who will enjoy them! - posted by Josephine on 2/18/2007
SOOOOOO MUCH FUN!!
Oh my gosh, I just received my workout video and had sooooooooooo much fun with it!! All of these songs and dance moves are so much fun... I love it! It's a GREAT workout and you don't even feel like you're working out... but believe me, I worked up a sweat! FUN FUN FUN!!! I had no problems with the moves, but it may be difficult for someone who is uncoordinated. But hey, a little practice, you'll be fine!! It's wonderful! So glad I bought it! - posted by Josephine on 2/17/2007
