Brazilian Dance Workout |
    part 2 |
| I already posted a comment but wanted to add, if you do not break a sweat during this workout then you are not doing the moves correctly. Really move your body (arms and legs). I am an intermediate/advanced exerciser and my heart rate stayed up. - posted by Fran on 11/2/2008 |

Good workout - and fun! |
| The first time I did this I did not like it. I gave it another try and burned major calories. I realized the reason it was so frustrating at first was b/c I didn't know the moves. But now that I've learned them the time flies by. By the end of the hour I felt that I had a full body cardio workout. The good part is that you don't feel like you are working out - it's like being part of a dance class. - posted by Fran on 11/2/2008 |

Good workout - and fun! |
| First of all, this is NOT a beginner's workout. Someone new to exercise would not be able to keep up. I am inter/advanced & I felt that this was a solid cardio workout, and virtually low impact (just remember to bend your knees during the brief hopping section). I could not get into it the first time through. So I let it sit for a few days and went back to it. Once I learned the moves I enjoyed it much more and I feel this will be a regular in my rotation. - posted by Fran on 11/2/2008 |

Fun & great music, but...way too slow |
| The music it's great, the dance steps are fabulous. BUT... the instructor teaches the moves at the same time, slowing down. Most of the video goes by marching, while she teaches the steps, which is good for a very beginner class. Not for me though, waaaaay tooo slow. Suggestion: She should have a beginners session separetly, so you can learn the steps at a slower pace and the workout session apart. I found it way too boring, turned it off after the first 5 minutes. - posted by Enid on 9/22/2008 |

Nice dance class but slow |
| I was bored many times and had fun many times during this workout. I am good at latin rythms and did find some of this fun. In the end it was too long and didn't hold my attention. I will keep it for a once in a blue moon workout - but didn't sweat much at all. Need to focus my time on quick and hard interval training - this is just a fun and authentic dance class. I must say though having gone to a live samba class in nyc I always learn more from tapes. Thanks! - posted by Elaine on 9/7/2008 |

    inspiring |
| I got this DVD a long time ago, tried it a couple of times and gave up for a while. I wasn't in the mood for learning the steps. I started up again just recently and love it. It's my favorite exercise DVD.
The instructor is naturally upbeat and enjoys the movements, she's not just going through the motions; the other people in the DVD also look like they're having fun. It's true that Vanessa Isaac is a little hard to understand sometimes, but you can eventually pick everything up just from watching, pausing the DVD, and repeating the steps on your own if you need to.
It was worth taking the time to learn everything because once you do, it's really fun and freeing. I always have a big smile on my face at the end and am amazed that I was able to learn the whole routine.
In the slower parts (the learning parts), increase your range of motion to keep your heart rate up. If you're super-fit, that might not work for you, but for the average person I think it would be enough just to make your motions more exaggerated.
I love the drumming, it gets me going way more than some hollow-sounding electronic music or most anything else you hear these days on exercise DVDs.
Five stars for the exercise routine (more like dancing) and the instructor, 3 stars for production (some sound problems, but no big deal). - posted by Artemis on 5/2/2008 |

    Exotic, playful, fun |
| This is the most fun workout I have ever tried. I thought that some of the moves, like "cafe" and "go get it" looked goofy at first, but Vanessa and her students enjoy themselves so much, and the music frees you up to shake your shoulders and strut your chest--and of course, wiggle your hips. I also thought that many of the sequences looked too difficult for me, but when I follow along at half-tempo, I can feel that they're easier than they look. I recommend getting the hang of Brazilian Rhythm Celebration I: Samba Party as its tempo is a bit slower and will expose you to some of the elements of Brazilian Dance Workout. This workout is so compelling, it makes me want to learn Brazilian Portuguese and hop a flight to Rio during Carnaval. - posted by Elena on 6/22/2007 |

    Liked it lots, but..... |
| Pros: Fun;Live Drumming; Got my heart rate up; Good instructorCons: Instuctor's accent was a little hard for me to get at first; they should let you choose what parts you want to do ( she keeps slowing down to explain moves, which is good if you're new to the video but bad when you know what to do and want to keep your heart rate up) - posted by erica on 5/6/2007 |

| great fun! |
| I hesitated to buy this DVD because the official listing said, "not recommended for carpeted floors." But I love Brazilian drumming so much, I decided to take a chance. In the video, the class is in bare-feet on what appears to be a parquet wood floor assembled outside on a lawn. I did the workout wearing socks -- on a carpeted floor. Perhaps the reviewer meant to suggest that bare feet are a problem on an un-carpeted floor where there might be slivers Anyway, don't let the condition of your floor stand in the way----this is a really fun exercise! - posted by bertha on 4/7/2007 |
