Karen Voight's Great Weighted Workout |
Just couldn't get into it |
| I was looking for an advanced weight DVD since the gym is getting harder to get too and I love Karen Voight. I thought I would love it, but I found it lacking for me. The music/outfits took a little getting used too, but the movements, swinging of weight, etc. didn't seem to be safe sometimes. Her later tapes/dvd's are different. I didn't feel the burn as I did with her "Burn & Firm" DVD. I'm glad others like it, but I found myself wanting it to end and I think I will end up giving it away or selling it. She really did improve with age! - posted by Deb on 9/6/2009 |

    My Favorite Full-Body Toner |
| I bought this workout several years ago, and it was too tough. Now that I'm in better shape, I absolutely can't live without this DVD. A friend wanted to borrow it after I told her how great the lower-body floor portion was, and I just couldn't let it go. I love the upper-body portion also; even with light weights, doing so many reps fatigues my muscles, and I have gained nice muscle definition. The fast pace gives you some cardio benefit also. The abs part is also killer. There is not other DVD like this. I recommend this for anyone who wants a change of pace. - posted by Lilly on 5/5/2009 |

A Classic must have for real fitness enthusiasts!!! |
| The original Karen Voight videos absolutely rock! I've been using this one for 11 years. My workout regimen varies from doing several half-marathons a year to heavy weight training splits to lighter bodysculpting - always mixing it up to avoid plateaus and keep it interesting. Great Weighted is consistently challenging and produces incredible results in muscle shape and definition. For those who say there are uncontrolled upper body movements - that's purely a lack of proper form. If you can't perform the movements in a controlled fashion with proper muscle emphasis, you need to be using a lighter weight until you can. Using correct form WILL get you amazing results with this video!! And it absolutely works every upper body part. I frequently will use just segments of this video based on what other workouts I'm doing - some days, just the first 30 minutes - warmup, upper body and standing leg portion - that alone is a killer 30 minute workout. Wish Karen would produce more of these higher intensity videos ! - posted by C.S. on 12/23/2008 |

Best Results I've had from any of my 32 videos! |
| I've been doing home workout videos for the last 7 years. Never have I had results like this one. She usually works both arms at once so you get more done in less time...what I like. I usually break it down to 6 min lower body, 20 min upper and 6 min stretch. This is only a 1/2 hour (I am usually warmed up from doing another video or a run) I was doing up my shoes to go for a run one evening and my landlord saw me and exclaimed "Wow, your arms are cut all over!" I looked down to see if I was bleeding but she was referring to the definition I had...That makes it all worthwhile! - posted by Julia on 9/25/2008 |

It may look dated, but the workout is fantasic! |
| Okay, ignore the cheesy late 80s music and the outfits on the people in the background- this workout is intense! The first time I did it my arms were sore all day, in a good way, and I could feel it in my glutes, thighs and abs for two days straight. I'm hoping I get to the point where I can do the workout with the sound turned down and my own music as a soundtrack because it works. - posted by Colleen on 8/13/2008 |

    Voight Works |
| WARNING--This is not a workout for beginners. It was so difficult on my first try that I was actually angry at Karen. Gradually, however, I began to see results, especially as I listened carefully to her instructions, followed them and gained strength, flexibility and tone. Say what you want about the upper body portion. It reshaped my arms, and I have a new body. Voight IS demanding as she works out the upper body (I disagree that this tape just works the shoulders; you should see my biceps, triceps and delts, people), the lower body (the toughest floor leg workout to date, I believe) and the abs (I was delighted when my abs became a little sore). My doctor asked me, "Where did you get those abs Where did they come from" This one is good, hard work for a good, hard body. - posted by TS on 1/28/2008 |

    great for muscle endurance |
| I bought this years ago when it first came out and it still remains one of the most unique toning workouts on the market. You MUST use very light weight (3 lbs or less) for the upper body work because this is a high rep series with very little rest time in between exercises. When I first did this workout, I had been lifting weights for years and thought this would be a breeze - wrong! I was sore for days. It's still in my rotation once or twice a month along with Cathe and Jari. The leg workout is just as tough. This is a total body workout that works. - posted by BarbaraW on 7/29/2007 |

    Engaging hyperdrive |
| I am only familiar with the recent Karen Voight workouts but I thought I would try this one. It is a Karen Voight workout on hyperdrive! It's also corny. The "students" start saying, "whoo" and "yeah" in the warm-up when nothing is really happening yet. They continue to overact throughout. I agree with someone else about the moves seeming a bit uncontrolled. It seems like Karen is always moving at least one body part at all times and it's very fast paced. I'm going to try it again and see if it grows on me. I prefer the "new" Karen but that's just my personal preference. This workout might be great for others. - posted by Amber on 7/10/2007 |

    Not recommended |
| When I first used this workout, I thought it was ok, if a bit long. I was bothered, however, by the so called warm-up. There were a lot of arm with weight movements that were very uncontrolled. Even with light weights, there didn't seem to be a standard for how to really move. I have been doing Jari Love and Cathe Freidrich tapes with heavy weights and excellent results. This tape really caused me pain in my upper arms which then moved to my back because I was compensating. When I stopped doing the tape, I slowly was able to go back to my Jari/Cathe weight training. I would caution people to really take it easy on the first 20 or 30 minutes or so of the warm-up and upper body. I won't be doing this one again. - posted by Ann on 6/25/2007 |
