Karen Voight's Lean Legs and Buns

great lower body toning
Have used this video for years in combination with firm arms and abs. Together they make a wonderful total body toning workout. Yes, there are a lot of squats, but there is also excellent calf, hamstring and inner and outer thigh work as well. Always feel great after using this dvd. - posted by Jackie on 8/30/2012
Outdated. Boring. Poor Production Quality
Don't waste your money on this DVD. This is an extremely outdated video with poor production quality (fuzzy pictures because it was filled in the 1990s) and boring moves that goes on forever. Go for more current teachers like Julian or Bob Harper or Kathy Smith. - posted by jennifer on 7/6/2011
ok
This is an OK DVD you will need weights to make you get any kind of workout. Great for beginners. - posted by lisa on 1/28/2011

Outdated Look but Not Outdated Moves
Although I agree with other reviewers who said this should not be labelled an inter/advanced workout (it's definitely just intermediate), I find myself really liking this video. It's from 1991, so the music and sets (even the clothes) are just awful, but once I got past that I found myself really liking this workout. Karen Voigt is excellent in both cueing and in tips and advice she gives you to make sure you're getting the most out of "basic" moves. I purchased leg weights to make portions of this video more challenging. Overall I'd recommend it. - posted by Kat on 3/15/2004
Those squats really work
Don't underestimate the effect of repetitive squats! Yes, it can be hard and slightly monotonous at first but you'll sure see your legs and buns to be tighter and stronger after just a few weeks of this well desighed workout. Karen is a hard worker and I always enjoy her encouragement and motivation throughout all of her videos. You can't deny the fact her workouts do help you shape your body and uplift your spirit! - posted by Ruth on 8/29/2003
Squat your way to thigh burn
I really do like this tape. It's great for isolating the lower body. You do squats forever and then some work with leg weights. I'd say it's a tough beginner workout. For an intermediate exerciser, use it as a supplement to your cardio. - posted by Amy on 8/18/2003
betty
If you could only have one instructor I think that Karen Voight would be the one. She is so right on with her demos and and her cueing is the best I have ever experienced. All her videos are great. This one is better than the Firm fanny Lifter ones I think because there is less potential for injury and over development but if you like the Firm then you will like this as well cause it is the same kind of no nonsense back to basics approach to fitness. Tried and true exercises, most with a little twist that make them even more effective with no time wasting chatter done in a friendly, can do atmosphere. Karen's recipe for fitness wins the prize! - posted by the one! on 3/2/2003
jewel
Yep another keeper from Karen Voight. She is so professional and is so able to give pointers that you can't help but get results. Her moves range from traditional to little tweaks on the traditional moves that make them oh so effective! There are lots of tips but not one wasted moment which I really appreciate. I am an advanced exerciser and I alternate this workout with Great Weighted workout on the days when I do not do yoga and it is perfect for getting just what you want, great looking long, lean, defined thighs without a hint of jiggle! - posted by yep she's the best! on 3/2/2003
Too many boring squats!
Unless you are in love with doing squats, I would not recommend this tape. I found it very boring to do 101 different variations of squats for 1/2 an hour. I have Karen Voight's Great Weighted Workout tape, which I love, and I can't believe how much I hated this tape. - posted by Kristen on 6/24/2002
Watch yourself
This is a great video for firming up your buns that's for sure. The only thing I don't like about this tape are the constant squats. For someone who has bad knees, this isn't for you. The floorwork however is great. I would be considered a beginner, and this video is really hard for me. The constant squats can really hurt your body if you aren't doing them right as well. - posted by JWS on 2/11/2002

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.
