Leslie Sansone's Weight Loss Walk

Loved this in spite of itself
I hated the set, wasn't crazy about the music, and still found myself sweating my buns off. I did all three workouts and loved that the choreography was simple enough that I could challenge myself by adding more arms or being more energetic with my moves in slower parts, but that there were also enough segments that were challenging as is. I'm going to keep this one in rotation for when I can't get outside and need a good, long workout. - posted by Paulette on 8/20/2008
Soooo sorry I got this one!
Based on the positive reviews here, I ordered this workout and couldn't wait to get it. Then I tried it and wondered how so many people could like this incredibly awful video. I couldn't wait for it to be over and wound up selling it after just the one use. I've done other Leslie videos, enjoy her energy, the simple choreography, and keep going back to those for a good no-nonsense floor aerobics workout. But the contrast between this video and her more recent WATP videos was shocking. Although the set was supposed to evoke a home-exerciser's living room, it looked tiny, cheap, and depressing to me. Also, Leslie's mostly one-on-one instruction was a little awkward, boring, and not as energetic as in later videos when she's leading a group. When I work out out at home, I want to feel like I'm elsewhere and part of a larger group. Other exercisers do join in later on in this video, however they looked really awkward and uncomfortable to me which made me feel uncomfortable as well (not to mention the cheesy 80s-style leotards and leg warmers looked horribly outdated and horrendous). I suppose these complaints may sound superficial, but I found these things too distracting to be able to enjoy the workout. If you will find them distracting too, then you should give this one a pass. - posted by Amanda on 1/22/2008
Vintage Leslie!
This is one of my all-time favorite Leslie walking workouts. True, the set and music are nothing to write home about, but the workout itself is great, as is her interaction with her ever-changing crew of background exercisers. The workout is also easy to break up into shorter workouts when you're pressed for time. Leslie never goes out of style!! - posted by emmy on 11/19/2007
Yucky set, cheesy music, gaps between sections
I don't mind exercising to older exercise videos. In fact, I love Leslie's 2 mile walk. However, I find this DVD agonizing. The set is uninspiring with the grey floor and yucky couch. There are gaps where there is no music and nothing going on while they "change sets" and background exercisers. It's all too cheesy. I couldn't even finish it. I've tried doing it a few times, but shut it off after about 5 minutes. If you can stand weird chit chat, gaps in the exercise between sections, and uninspiring set and music, go for it. Great walk!
This has really jump started my exercise program. I wasn't sure I liked it at first. The video is old and there is no longer a booklet but the walking action is spot on. It really gets you moving in no time. I will order more of Leslie's tapes! - posted by Mary S., Indiana on 3/18/2007
An oldie but goodie
I have had this one for about 10 years. I recently got it on DVD though. I used to only do two segments at a time but I now do the whole thing. It is not intense but that is why it's so nice to do the whole thing. I am sweating by the end and I feel like I have had a nice long walk. I have many videos of all lengths and intensities. It's really great to have some that are long and not super intense but will get you burning fat and calories. The music in this one is very interesting because it is somewhat silly and upbeat. I really enjoy this workout and recommend it for a long but easy workout to burn fat. I think this one is fun and I look forward to doing it. - posted by Leeya on 1/21/2006
Great for beginners
I actually love this one. Whenever I get behind in my workouts and need to begin again or get myself into the habit of working out again..I use this to jump back into a routine. it really does give a smooth entry into exercise. Makes you feel your muscles without over exerting yourself. I certainly wouldn't recommend this for anyone who is two months or more advanced into aerobics, but for a beginner..I find this workout to be perfect. - posted by Dawn on 1/10/2006
Good, but not Leslie's best
I've been using Leslie Sansone's videos for several years now. This particular version is okay, but it's not my favorite. The 1st and 2nd segments just don't feel like exercise. I like the 3rd segment, though. Overall, I'd say this feels more like 2.5 or maybe 3 miles... but it doesn't feel like 4! What it feels like is a walk that will never end... perfect if you're out of shape but inadequate if you're in shape. - posted by Ruth on 8/3/2005
Great Video-Add hand weights and propulsion for a REAL workout!!
I am an advanced excercise fanatic and bought this tape on a whim. I have every exercise video known to man and wanted something a little different. I really enjoy the tape, I just add 5 pound hand weights for the whole tape and do propulsion to every step possible and I am winded and sweating by the middle of the second segment. Great video and yes, I also find the giggling annoying, but overlook it and enjoy the exercise. - posted by Claire Scott on 3/4/2005
Something a little different
I really enjoy this 4-mile walk with Leslie. It's an older program, so it suffers from a cheesy set and wardrobe and bad music. But, it has different moves from her current WATP tapes, so it has a lot more variety. I think that makes it a bit more challenging than some of the WATP tapes. The pace is pretty good, especially in the 2nd and 3rd segments. And for some reason, Leslie's chatter is less intrusive in this workout. Perhaps because she changes steps more often, so she has to cue more. Overall, it's one of my favorite Leslie Sansone workouts. - posted by Laura on 11/1/2004

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.
