Certified instructor description: A fast-moving series of exceptionally varied toning exercises (originally released in 1998). It's a well-balanced program that maximizes results with a smoothly-sequenced set of seated, lying and standing routines. Tracie also incorporates an unusually diverse set of techniques and body positions (e.g. arms: standing bicep curls, bent-over rows, on-the-floor push-ups). It's all beautifully filmed on the Firm’s elegant mansion set with upbeat jazz-type instrumental music. Tracie Long, a Firm Master Instructor, demonstrates superb pacing and very clear cuing (even occasionally showing the incorrect form so you can see errors to avoid). Note: the workout has one very short cardio segment. Requires two sets of fairly heavy dumbbells (e.g. 5 and 10 lb.). They use a high step, but regular step would work. A workout dowel is suggested. ©1998. Also titled: Maximum Body Shaping. DVD has: Chapter menus, Narrow screen.

Classic Firm: Maximum Body Sculpting

Did not keep my interest in the least.
I had most of these on VHS and it was fine back then. Now, it seems really outdated. It did not keep my interest in the least. - posted by Carla on 5/13/2013
Great workout
Very happy with this purchase. Great variety without getting crazy and is challenging for my current fitness level. Will be able to use it for a long time. - posted by Alicia on 11/18/2012
The firm: Maximum Body shaping
Tracie Long is one of my favorite among The Firm instructor. The instruction is clear and the program is fun but enough workout . I have her tape (VHS Format) since the 80's. After my children were born I stopped but I decided to do some working out again and I am really very happy that it is now in DVD format. - posted by Belen D on 10/25/2012
Favorite
This is my favorite exercise video of all time. I always come back to it even after all these years. Excellent instruction and exercises to get (or keep) you in great shape. Highly recommend if you like a direct, no nonsense approach. The classic Firms are the best video series of all time in my opinion regardless of the dated clothes and music. - posted by Kristen on 9/22/2012
Classic Firm DVD
This remains one of my favorite workouts. Tracie Long is an outstanding instructor...all the moves expertly cued. I am middle-aged and overweight so I use a much shorter step-up box for fanny lifting and I still see results after a few workout sessions. This is a classic Firm workout...it can be made more and more challenging with the amount of weight used and the height of the step-up box. It is an awesome total body workout. - posted by Michele on 8/16/2012
EXCELLENT!
LUV LUV LUV! So glad to see some of the FIRMs classics in DVD format! Please get the rest - NOTHING compares - and I wore out all my VHS FIRM Classics! - posted by RB on 6/14/2012
Not disappointed
I have been a FIRM devotee for twenty years and particularly like Tracie Long. Though it is very old school, it is a solid workout and was worth the purchase price. - posted by Lynda on 6/11/2012
Keep in Shape No Matter What Your Age
I am an avid FIRM believer since purchasing my first FIRM VHS way back in 1989 when I paid $50 for it when I saw it advertised in the back of a men's fitness magazine - a LOT of money then! I am 55 years young and have been told I have the body of a 27 year old. Yes, the sets are now old-fashioned and the music is not the latest, but for my money (and body) NOTHING beats the original FIRM workouts! I've purchased and tried all the latest Cathe, Jillian, Insanity, etc. and I always come back to the original FIRM's to keep my body tight and toned. Perhaps it's just my body type, but nothing works for me as well as these. You want results? Try the original FIRM videos and you're on your way :) - posted by Katy on 5/30/2012
A Solid Workout
I was pleased to purchase this title in DVD format. I've had the VHS format for years and I've worn it out because it is one of my favorite workouts. It is definitely in the intermediate/advanced range of Firm routines. It is challenging but in only 45 minutes you work every muscle group. I particularly appreciate the step work. There is only one brief cardio segment in between some tough muscle work. Tracie is an excellent instructor who is upbeat and encouraging. She explains the moves and cues you in advance of changes. - posted by Kathy on 5/18/2012
One of my favorites!
I still love my Firm DVD with Susan Harris, but do get bored easily and this is my 2nd favorite. I received good results from both and because I continue with these, I've been able to maintain my weight and size. - posted by Jessica on 5/12/2012

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.
