Certified instructor description:
Salsa, merengue and cha cha — this high-energy program features Latin’s hottest moves and hottest music. Kathy’s superb cuing makes it effective and easy to follow; the pulsating music makes it motivating and fun. Filmed with a live band in LA’s famous Conga Room, it may feel more like a party than a workout. Kathy introduces each dance with the basics. Then, when you’re comfortable with the steps, she adds the variations — from pivots and kicks to direction and tempo changes (often using a voiceover to expertly guide you through the new move). Want to use these sultry steps on the dance floor? Great! The video ends with a short instructional segment on partner-dancing. Excellent production quality. ©1999. DVD has: Chapter menus, Narrow screen, Close captions, Region 1.

Kathy Smith's Latin Rhythm Workout

not for beginners
I usually like her videos for beginners but this one was too fast and not giving a beginner time to learn the steps. I just gave up and put it away. I think you have to be someone that is already doing this kind of dancing to be able to do this video. - posted by Sue on 9/8/2011
Definitely aerobic
I have the proverbial "two left feet", yet found that Kathy's clear instructions transformed me into a competent dancer. The workout is definitely physically challenging: I did sweat. It is a welcome alternative to 'traditional cardio' such as the treadmill, eliptical machine and step aerobics. - posted by Casey on 7/24/2011
Fun!
This one has a workout that first shows you the steps and breaks them down so you can learn them while getting your heart rate up. The second part puts it all together so you're doing a latin dance workout. - posted by Rhonda on 6/2/2011
Great dance
this was a fun workout, easy to follow, yet your working up a sweat! Would definitely recommend for someone just starting out. - posted by Sharon on 5/16/2011
Kathy Smith's "Latin Rhythm Workout"
I bought this video cassette tape from Collage Video about 5 years ago and lost it while moving. I was never able to find it in stores, but luckily I was able to re-order the workout in dvd form recently. I am so pleased to have this workout again! Thanks, Collage Video for the wide variety of current and past dvds that are available to us online and through catalogue! - posted by Lisa Wilcox on 5/12/2011
Kathy Smith latin workout
I really enjoy this workout. It is fun. Kathy is good at cuein the next steps. I like her friendly fun attitude. It's not hard to learn and it doesn't feel like a workout but you do sweat. It's like a dance party. You can add intensity and your own style as you learn the steps well. I have been doing Zumba classes for 6 mos and aerobics dance, kick box jams, stepping, some yoga and weights for 30 years now. - posted by Tina Griffith on 4/21/2011
Great fun! Well executed!!
Kathy Smith is always reliable for cueing and super energy. I am not a "dancer" except in my own mind but as a past instructor and personal trainer now, I found it refreshing from the same old stuff. Of course, there are some favorite moves that we have seen before but they mixed them with some snazzy music and challenging Latin steps. You can make it as aerobic as you like. I laughed out loud in my private living room! Good warm up, good cool down and just cha cha cha!! - posted by Bev on 2/24/2011
Easy and Fun!
This Latin video is really good. The steps aren't complicated; yet it is really fun to do. There are several short work-outs, so you can do as much as you want. I was really pleased with this one. - posted by Rhonda Wagoner on 2/17/2011
Kathy Smith Latin Workout
Kathy explains things clearly and has a good intro to show you the steps, then 2 workouts--one for beginners, and the second more challenging. It's a lot of fun and you definitely work up a sweat even if you just do Part 1, then the cool down, about 25 minutes total. Definitely worth your time and money. - posted by Lin on 2/17/2011

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.
