Certified instructor description:
Three 20-minute programs on one video: circuit toning, boxing/kickboxing and funky dance aerobics. Complete with warm-ups and cooldowns, it’s easy to find time for a different workout every day (or do all three in sequence for a diverse one-hour aero/tone program). The body-sculpting features a solid, well-structured series of targeted floor and standing routines. Next, it’s a rotating medley of jabs, punches and kicks with a real “in the ring” feel (e.g. “crouch, bob, weave, jab”). Finally, the ultra-energetic dance party aerobics includes everything from classic marches and jazz squares to street-style “attitude walks” and “double booty backs.” Excellent cuing. Requires 1 to 5 lb. dumbbells. ©1999. (67 min.). Note: DVD includes advanced versions of each workout. DVD has: Narrow screen.

good as add-ons
I agree with the reviewers who said the segments alone are not really rigorous enough. But, I like to use the 20 minute segments as add-ons to other tapes. For example, you can add the dance segment on this tape on to the cardo portion of one of Donna Richardson's 30 Days tapes, or you can add the toning part on to something like Crunch Boot Camp or one of the Denise Austin Blast Away segments. - posted by B on 6/22/2004
Okay, but not very intense
Hi, I purchased this DVD awhile ago, and I must say that initially I enjoyed the DVD, however as I continued to use it, I found that my body adjusted to the exercise and I didn't feel that any results were occurring. I prefer something a little more intense where the next day I can feel that I worked hard. - posted by Charlene on 3/4/2004
Good for a quick workout
This is good if you have 20 minutes to work out. I've done 2 or 3 segments at once, and there is not a smooth transition b/c segments, as you're warming up before and cooling down after each one. For me, an avid exerciser, 20 minutes is not really enough, but I'll do one on my 'not really working out aerobically' days. I have to say I am sore after that circuit toning segment, and I lift weights at the gym several times a week. The dance segment is fun, the kickboxing is ok. I do like Donna, she's adorable and perky but not annoying. - posted by Karen on 12/3/2003
Excellent Morning Workout
This was my first Donna Richardson tape, and I am very pleased! She gives off excellent energy and great personality. Her enthusiasm gets you pumped, and that is essential in a morning workout! The dance section was fun...very easy, repetative movements, but still fun. As others have noted, realize that this is not an high impact or advanced exercise tape. However, if you're looking for a total body workout that's quick and can be done when you just want to squeeze in a workout...this is the one! - posted by Jessica on 6/25/2003
Not Bad, but Not Great
This is my third Donna tape, and my least favorite (the other two are 4-Day Rotation and 30 Days to Thinner Thighs.) The first part gives you a pretty good total body workout. In the second part, Donna's enthusiasm is infectious, but I wish that one girl in the green would shut up .. she whoops it up and yells out so many comments and instructions it makes me wonder who's teaching this class. I've done other kickboxing tapes, and I don't think Donna gives enough instruction on form, etc. Finally, the dance aerobic section is pretty basic, nothing new here. Overall, not a bad tape, but not great either. - posted by Debbie on 5/3/2003
Not as pleased as the rest
I debated on this one after reading some of the others reviews...and I chose wrong when I purchased it. She carries the "dancing" aspect of her work out into the other areas (do I really need "funky hips" while doing kick & jab). I bought the DVD for a dance type work out...but only wanted one section of it. If I wasnt a former dance instructor, I think I would have problems following the DVD since, in my opinion, she doesnt give very good instruction. - posted by Melissa on 4/22/2003
So-So
I think this tape is good for people who are a little more in shape and are looking for a quick routine to maintain (i.e., business travellers, etc). I can't seem to get into it as much as I thought I would, but I plan to keep it, because I think the 3 segments could serve as light day workouts once I'm in better shape. - posted by Tamara on 4/7/2003
Great Video!
I bought this DVD about a year ago, and it's still one of my favorites. The twenty minute time segments make it possible to fit in a workout in the morning before work. I love Donna because she's really happy to be working out. I like the class atmosphere since the other women all seem to be having so much fun as well, and it makes you feel like you're not a complete klutz. As for the "hooting and hollering" of the other women, I find it enjoyable. If you don't, just set the DVD to "instuctor cueing enhanced" and all you hear is Donna's instruction. The DVD is also great because you can string the workouts together in any order, as well as doing the bonus advanced workouts (similar to the regular, but a bit more challenging and with no class around Donna). - posted by E.J.G. on 4/1/2003
Fun and Energizing Workout!
This was my first Donna Richardson Video and I am sorry I didn't try her out sooner! I did all three components of this workout today and found it to be fun and effective. I don't usually like workouts over 45 minutes but the hour was up before I knew it. After this workout I am definitely going to try out some other workouts from Donna. I highly recommend this video! - posted by Pam on 3/23/2003
Fun!!!
I have never heard of Donna Richardson and read the reviews on her and carefully looked over her exercise tapes. I decided on the 3 day rotation because of what it provided and the segments were not lengthy. I absolutely love this video! I found Donna to be a nice change to whom I usually work out to. All I have to say is it is alot of fun and the 20 minutes seem to go by faster then that! - posted by Shelley on 3/23/2003

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.

Narrow screen
X
When played on a widescreen TV, this program will show black bars on the left and right sides. On an older 4x3 ratio TV, it will fill the entire screen.
Level
X
Beginner: Just starting out, very overweight or haven't exercised in over six months.

Intermediate: Active in sports, dance or any regular exercise (2 to 3 times per week).

Advanced: Very active in sports or consistently work out four or more times per week.

Aerobics impact
X
Lower Impact: Both feet never leave the ground at the same time. This minimizes stress on your knees.

Higher Impact: Includes movements like jumps, hops and skips. Very high-impact is called plyometrics.

Mixed Impact: This alternates or combines the above styles.

Aerobics choreography
X
Basic: The easiest to follow. It ranges from simple walking-style marches to sports and athletic movements.

Complex: More intricate combinations and patterns. They're ideal for people who like to dance.

Moderate: More interesting than Basic, less dancy than Complex.

Toning emphasis
X
Upper body: Arms, chest and back.

Lower Body: Legs, thighs, hips and buttocks.

Abs: Abdominals (stomach), core and sometimes lower back.

Total body: Tones all three of the above muscle groups.

Aerobics & Toning
X
Definition: Includes two workout activities. The aerobics segments are fast-paced standing movements like marching, dancing and jumping. These segments require no equipment. The toning sections are slow, controlled movements working against a resistance. These may include Pilates and weight training.

Benefits: The combination of both activities provides a balanced workout. The aerobics burns calories, strengthens your heart and increases stamina. The toning builds lean muscles, increases your metabolism and makes everyday activities easier.
