Certified instructor description:
A fast-paced — and surprisingly challenging — aerobic workout with the focus and control of traditional tai chi. Classic cardio routines are smoothly integrated with softer tai chi and more explosive chi kung motions. These flowing, large muscle-group movements open your body’s energy paths and provide a unique sense of power and grace (Ginette Deslauriers, a dynamic instructor, designed this program to “work your body hard in a relaxed way”). Ends with a very relaxing tai chi cooldown. Unique soundtrack — soft Asian overlaid with a solid drumbeat. ©2001. DVD has: Narrow screen.

GREAT WORKOUT
I believe this is the same instructor who was on CN8's KARDIO KNOCKOUT---- I really loved the TV show and wish those tapes were available. She is just great ---the rhythm and music are absolutely fantastic. - posted by patti on 1/19/2009
Love this workout!
This is one workout that I always return to for something low impact and FUN! I really like the music and the pace. Gets my heart rate sky high. Perfect for an intermediate exerciser looking for something different. - posted by Cheryl on 2/26/2008

AWAKENING YOUR DORMANT MUSCLES!
i have been interested in tai chi for a while but i just don't do well with slow movements - e.g. pilates or ballet type workouts. after reading the reviews and realizing the faster pace, i purchased this video and so glad i did! i did the video yesterday and my entire back and sides feel sore from using muscles i have probably not used aerobically in years !! my arms and shoulders are also sore from the many arm patterns this video uses. i think using 2 - 3 lb wrist weights for added resistance will help lean out my arms without building bulk. since these are my lagging body parts i am so happy to feel the soreness! i also felt sore in my legs and glutes. after years of taebo, running, & weight training, step aerobics, nothing seemed to touch the rolls of excess flab that have covered my back and torso, and my arms have a little to much bulk for my liking. i will use this video three times a week for 90 days and hope that it is my answer before in frustration i submit to liposuction for this stubborn fat on my back and torso that nothing seems to get rid of. it is an enjoyable workout and helps me continue to use martial arts as a discipline for exercise. (collage no longer sells cardio kung fu but that video has helped me as well as kicked up step) about a year ago i had grown very, very tired of taebo. i also love the dancelike feel that this video has. i will try to enter another comment in september regarding the results of my 90 day experience with this workout. it is a keeper! - posted by Kalema on 6/21/2006
Best low-impact, high intensity workout ever
I wish this workout would be released on DVD. The movements are derived from Tai Chi and emphasize flow, energy, range of movement and flexibility while keeping the heart rate waaaay up. The constant shifting of weight and changing of height levels keeps your legs and thighs working the whole time. I love this workout because I am interested in CONSCIOUS movement, flow and control - not robotic repetitions and mechanical execution. This workout has mind-body benefits but the truth is, I sweat through the entire thing. It's really the best of all worlds, I hope it is released on DVD. - posted by Aimee on 5/4/2006
A disappointment
I purchased this in hopes of enjoying a fun, exciting workout based on solid tai chi moves. What I received was a poorly produced video with little fitness value. It is the worst thing I have ever bought from Collage. - posted by Kirk on 2/20/2006
Long and badly cued
I really wanted to like this video, I don't like regular aerobics, step and all that, so I thought this would be the perfect workout for me. Indeed the moves are interesting and you work up a good sweat, but I found the instructor annoying and her cueing is really bad, she does not encourage you at all, the workout seems to go on FOR EVER because she doesn't make you feel that you are "almost there" quite the opposite, it seems the thing will never end!!! Too bad the instructor is no good, because the moves are new and really interesting and the impact is low but you really workout hard. - posted by Susana on 9/29/2005
Best Workout
Wow-I love this workout. Someone recommended it to me for low impact high intensity and it is just what I was looking for! Not to mention it is different and very fun. I also love the music! The instructor is a little new agey and talks about Tai Chi movement meanings, but if you are ok with that, GET THIS WORKOUT! It is unlike anything else I have tried and really got my heart rate up there and in zone for a full 45 minutes or so! I can't say enough good things about this workout! - posted by Karyn on 8/24/2005
Clock watcher
I really wanted to like this video. The moves were original and creative and the instructor seemed to be excited about what she was doing. In all honesty, I found myself watching the clock at the ten minute mark. As I love my workout time, that rarely happens for me. The moves just bored me. They looked interesting but there was no feeling of "flow" while actually doing them. I am an advanced exerciser and was looking for a fun, light workout for my rest days. If you go full energy and sink fully into the squats etc., this is a decent intermediate level workout. CAUTION: I would not recommend this for a beginner or someone with knee problems. Some of the moves are too fast and it was challenging to keep proper form (esp. with the lunges). I regularly do high impact (Cathe etc.)with no problems but my knees were sore for a day after this program. - posted by Cara on 6/9/2005

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.
