Certified instructor description:
A well-structured medley of proven muscle-toning basics. With its fast pace and smoothly flowing transitions, you’ll even burn some fat as you thoroughly firm and re-shape your body. Alternating between upper and lower-body moves, the routines intermix standing, seated and floor exercises. Featuring four different instructors, you get varied styles, techniques and tempos (e.g. half-time, one-count/two-count, fast pulses, etc.). Re-edited from previous Firm film-quality videos. Requires 3 to 15 lb. dumbbells and a step (they use a tall step-box, a regular step also works). Barbells, ankle weights and a workout dowel are suggested. ©1999. DVD has: Narrow screen.

The Firm: Super Sculpting

Great Workout
In 1990, I started buying Firm videos. I have all of the older ones and they were great but this video exceeds all expectations. In my opinion, it is the best Firm video ever made. It is truly a total body workout and I like the fact that the instructors change. I still use this video from time to time and it's one you just don't get tired of. It is my all time favorite Firm video. - posted by Suzanne on 6/16/2009
WOW!
This is a hard workout and I love it. Every muscle is worked and then worked again. The cueing is intelligent with none of the annoying chatter and the cast is interesting with men and women of different ages. I'm glad to have this in my rotation even though the abdominal section is quite short. - posted by Pauline on 3/27/2009
Great Workout!
I loved this Firm video. I consider myself to be in pretty good shape, and this video had me sweating. The next day I had muscles aching that I didn't know existed. I waited 48 hours and did it again, and still felt the workout. Each muscle is worked out very hard until you feel exhausted. This will definitely be a part of my rotation, especially when I feel the need for an intense, whole bodied workout. - posted by Megan on 12/28/2008
The best FIRM ever!!
I was amazed at how fast paced this workout is compared to the other FIRM workouts. There is no stopping for even a sip of water -- which I normally do during every workout. I was sweating buckets. I thought Standing Legs was tough. You need every piece of equipment listed, especially a barbell, to get the best workout. Very limited abs and no "cardio," but it will still make you sweat. Great true sculpting tape. Have Fun! - posted by Cindie on 9/28/2008
OKAY WOW
i have a ton of Firm videos from all different time periods. This is the most difficult one i own and I consider myself to be very advanced. Has a lot of new "non-typical" moves that really work your muscles especially when using a challenging weight. I like the variation on the lunges, the curtsey dips & the standing leg section. Also was great on working my arms which some videos don't offer enough work on. If you need a total body sculpting video this is the one to get! - posted by Mimi on 5/15/2008
Super Sculpting indeed!
I totally love the older Firms. They are far more superior. This workout is well edited. It also does a great job of thoroughly fatiguing every muscle in your body. It does this by having several different varieties of squats, lunges and upper body exercises. This workout introduced me to the curtsey dip, a variation of a lunge. You will workout hard and sweat! - posted by Patrice on 5/14/2008
My favorite FIRM
I have been doing the firm for years also and this was my favorite from the first time I did it. I still have the battered VHS in my closet but bought the DVD when I saw it. LOVE IT! It works your whole body over. I love the curtsy dips and lunges. The instructors are great! - posted by Jess on 2/1/2008
My all time favorite Firm workout
Although I often find the Firm workouts to be repetitive, I love this workout. The leg sequence is killer. I can barely walk the next day. By changing out the weights, this workout can be for beginners all the way to advanced. My only caveat is that the ab portion could be longer and more intense. I just add an ab workout on the back of it if I need more work on the core. - posted by Elaine on 1/11/2008

This is the toughest tape. I never have to pause a tape to get my breath back or feel like I am going to pass out, but this one does it. - posted by Geneva R. on 2/18/2006

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.
