Time graph for Fat Burning for Dummies with Gay Gasper
A solid cardio workout by an excellent instructor, it uses just 10 classic aerobic moves (from marches and knee lifts to grapevines and jazz squares). Even if you’ve never worked out, this is a great way to learn/practice these fundamental routines as you slim your body. Always at an aerobic pace, Gay begins by demonstrating each move (often adding interest with subtle variations of a basic motion). Then she combines these steps into four fun combinations. Gay’s add-on technique makes it all very “do-able” — after practicing one combo, it’s easy to just add on the next. You also get on-screen insets showing tips, suggestions and more challenging modifications. ©2001. DVD has: Chapter menus, Close captions.

Fat Burning for Dummies with Gay Gasper

Great Workout, But Not For True Beginners
I am an intermediate/advanced exerciser, and this was a great workout. The choreography was simple and it got my heart rate up and kept it up. However, in my opinion if you are just beginning to exercise, than this is not a workout for you. She moves quickly once the workout starts and you have to remember combo moves. The instructor's cuing is great, so she is easy to follow, but I think this would be to quick for someone to follow who has literally just started exercising. If you are a true beginner, I suggest trying Leslie Sansone's workouts because they are simple (only about 4 different basic moves) and are a great way to get your heart rate up without having to worry about learning combination moves. Overall, I think this workout is great! - posted by Laura on 7/15/2009
Perfect cardio workout!
I love this! As someone who is choreographically-challenged but wants (needs) a challenging workout, I found this to be one of the best videos I've ever done. Gay's cuing is exceptional. The video is set up so that you can adjust it to your fitness level: there is a 12-minute instructional intro which also doubles as a warm-up, followed by several segments about 5 minutes in length each, so you can add on as your fitness level increases. You can increase (or decrease) the intensity by adding (or subtracting) arm movements, and once you find the workout easy, you can really up the intensity by substituting high-impact variations, which are shown throughout the video. - posted by Barbara on 6/2/2009
Sometimes you just want to have fun
So glad I got this workout. She is a great instructor.Video was very easy to follow. I was really glad there was no front lunge, back lunge, plyos, or squats. My heart rate was up;it was really refreshing just to do a simple and easy cardio. I also liked the little pop-ups.Gay's cuing was spot on. I also have the abs w/o. Love that one too. This will definitely be in rotation. - posted by Mary on 11/24/2008
Fun!
I really liked this. It is a step up from Leslie's videos in terms of difficulty, but you can also ramp it up and do the advanced example. I loved the sequencing, thought it was really well done. And her cueing is the best around. This was a surprisingly good find.It was just a lot of fun!! - posted by Kristen on 11/20/2008
Fantastic Workout!
Gay is one of the best trainers I have ever seen and her workouts are fantastic. This workout is great for anyone and with the options she teaches using high impact moves it even takes it up another level. I loved it! - posted by Linda on 8/11/2008
Easy to follow and good cardio workout
This workout is as easy to follow as any of Leslie Sansone's workouts. This is a perfect dvd to alternate with Leslie's walking videos to prevent boredom. It gets your heart rate up and the cueing is perfect. - posted by Corenne on 8/9/2008
LOVE IT!
It usually takes me several tries to get the steps down. This one I could do pretty well the first try and had mastered it by the second workout. It's a fun, effective workout. It feels so good to be on-cue! I'm usually playing catch-up or leaving out the arm moves because I'm not coordinated enough and then I burn out before I master the workout. This was really great! - posted by Ruth on 3/4/2008
Great Work-Out Tape - Burns Fat
If you want to lose weight this video wil do it for you. Just keep your Target Heart Rate (THR) between 60-70% and the weight just falls off. Its simply, easy, and effective. Nothing complex about the routies - they are just very effective. I have owned this tape for a while and just bought the DVD version of it to download to my IPOD so I can exercise when I travel. If you work between 70-80% of your THR with this tape you can maintain your weight. No jarring on your bones!! BUY IT. - posted by Lina on 2/28/2008
Why did I wait so long
I've had this DVD collecting dust for several months. I finally did it last night. I LOVE LOVE this workout. I'm carrying 50 extra pounds so high-impact aerobics is not an option right now. Because of the basic choreography, this low-impact workout is very do-able. My heart rate was up where it needed to be to burn fat. Gay is perfect as the instructor. She's not annoying and she cues amazingly well. I only wish there was a warm-up section but I used the instructional segment as the warm-up. I wish Gay would do more DVDs similar to this one. Once I get closer to my goal weight, I can still see myself doing this workout with some high-impact steps. This is perfect for beginner/intermediate exercisers. - posted by Lorie on 2/7/2008
Perfect Aerobic Workout- in My Opinion
I have nothing negative to say about this workout. It is effective without being too difficult. I like the fact that you are only listening to the instructor- no other exercisers. Sometimes in a video something said is funny once, but when you hear it repeatedly not so funny. Gay is very professional and I never get tired of this workout. - posted by Susan on 12/7/2007

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.
