Certified instructor description: Two complete yoga workouts led by a friendly, down-to-earth instructor. They both feature a medley of classic yoga poses (e.g. downward facing dog, plank, warrior, cobra, triangle and mountain pose) "Joy of Yoga" provides the improved flexibility and relaxation benefits of traditional yoga without the intimidating attitude. Sara’s unusually laid-back style makes it unusually easy to do (e.g. "if your knees are doing this, just flop them out" or "now just kinda wiggle your fingers"). Her emphasis is always on enjoying the movement, not perfecting each one. It has more energetic, upbeat music than most yoga videos. The second program, "Fat Burning Yoga," also features classic yoga moves. Sara’s solid cuing and non-mystical style makes it an effective and exceptionally yoga workout. And by helping you achieve a balanced lifestyle and a deeper body-awareness, it provides a key element in weight-loss success (but it’s really too slow to immediately burn much fat...). It ends with a short, but intense, segment of traditional ab-focused floorwork. Bright, colorful, airy set. ©1997 & 2001. DVD has: Chapter menus, Music only option, Narrow screen.

Crunch: The Perfect Yoga Workout

Love both these videos
I had the Joy of Yoga as a video tape, and was glad to see it on a DVD as it's a great "go-to" video. Both videos are focused on breathing WITH movement - which is what yoga is really about. I feel taller, leaner and healthier after these videos. Love em! - posted by Mary on 3/26/2012
A Good Intro Workout To Yoga
This is a solid yoga workout. It's a great intro to the yoga practice. - posted by Nia on 12/30/2011
Mixing it up
This is a great beginner video. If you've taken a break and trying to come back to yoga or trying it for the first time. My husband likes this video better because she explains each move simply and explains yoga terms in everyday language. He also likes that she doesn't speed through the moves. I've also liked it because I have another yoga burn video that I use and this gives my body some new moves to relax with after going at an intense pace with the burn. - posted by Lydia on 7/1/2011
Crunch Yoga Video
I've been doing yoga for about a year with my husband following reluctantly sometimes:) Winter seasons tending to be the harder times to stay consistent. I found this video to be useful and helpful. The instructor is pleasant and encouraging. The level is appropriate for when I come back to yoga after taking a break. My only wish is that the sections could be done together without having to stop to cue the second part. Sometimes you're feeling gregarious and want to keep going. - posted by Mckenzie on 5/3/2011
The Joy of Yoga - Awesome Short Yoga Workout
I am an avid exerciser...lift weights, take cycle classes, and run two times a week. I had been doing The Firm Power Yoga for the past few months and decided that I wanted to try another yoga DVD. It would have to be a short one, though, because I am not a huge yoga fan. I find that if it lasts longer than 30-40 minutes, I tend to get bored. I did The Joy of Yoga last night and it was awesome...it kicked my butt, but in a very good way! I felt very challenged, very stretched, and very relaxed by the end of it...which is exactly what I wanted. I will definitely start incorporating this into my workout and switch it up with the other yoga DVD workouts I have. I haven't tried the Fat Burning Yoga workout yet, but after reading the reviews about it, I plan on it. - posted by KL on 3/29/2011
Good practice, just not good for me.
I should have read the reviews a little more carefully before buying the workout. I think it's just a little too easy to be an intermediate workout, so I fear it's going back. As a solid beginner/intermediate or intermediate yoga practitioner this was just a little too simplistic and detailed. There was too much instruction but not enough workout, so I fear it is going back. That said, the instruction is excellent for someone at more of a beginner level. Sara has a very friendly way of explaining yoga poses that really takes the mysticism out of the practice. I think this is a perfect DVD for someone who has done a few classes or done some very basic dvd's and is ready to try some different workouts. It's also great for the athlete who wants to stretch out somewhat but does not want to delve into any of the spiritual aspects of yoga. As always Sara's cues are excellent and easy to follow. The only criticism I have is that the level of the dvd seems to be mismarked. I often wonder how levels are chosen for dvd's. I am a regular shopper at Collage, and I think their services are excellent. I do find myself thinking, "This should be intermediate or this should be beginner," from time to time. - posted by Mary Anne on 3/2/2011
Sarah is a great Yoga instructor- she gives great cues on this DVD
I've been doing this DVD for 3 years now. I love the Fat Burning Yoga workout. I don't think it burns a lot of fat, but it does give your legs and butt a good work out. You also get a little bit of arm and abs work out. Sara is an excellent instructor in this video. She gives great cues so you know exactly how to do each move. There are moderated moves for beginners which is nice for those just starting out. The yoga moves in this video are easy to achieve. You are not bent into a pretzel as some yoga moves can have you doing. - posted by Catherine on 2/22/2011
GREAT Yoga workout, very easy to follow, non-intimidating
I love both of these workouts. The Joy of Yoga workout is shorter, but still challenging, and I felt very stretched and relaxed. As a runner, these workouts are a good counterbalance to make sure I keep flexible. The Fat Burning Yoga workout is tough! I can tell that it will help my balance and flexibility. I love how Sara is so relaxed, and makes the poses very easy to understand. She is also not at all mystical or intimidating, but also gives the practice of Yoga the respect it deserves. Great all around, and excellent price, too. I am so glad I ordered this!! - posted by Sami on 2/12/2011
Maybe not "perfect", but not that far off!!
Nothing or no one is perfect, but this comes fairly close in Yoga DVD land. Two effective workouts, led by my favorite Yoga instructor of all time, Sara Ivanhoe. Nice that it includes 2, so you can mix and match these. I consider myself an inflexible intermediate..which means (in my world) I've done yoga for several years, and still can't touch the ground with my hands without the aid of yoga blocks, but if I keep practicing to these, in addition to my weekly in studio class, I'll get there, someday, but I'm in no rush! - posted by Jerry on 9/8/2010
A Solid Yoga Video
I bought this recently and I must say that it is very good. The poses provide a good mixture of strength, balance and flexibility. I highly recommend this video. - posted by Marie on 8/25/2010

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.
