Certified instructor description: Two dynamic videos filled with easy-to-follow action and Billy’s legendary motivation. Getting progressively harder as the workout goes on, both videos use large-muscle movements to keep your heart rate up. The first video is all fat-burning aerobics often incorporating an ab-toning element. The second video begins with a solid floor toning segment before moving into a medley of Tae Bo cardio favorites. Throughout, Billy is moving among the group; coaching, motivating and giving tips on technique — it feels just like you’re actually in Billy’s class. DVD includes a bonus “8-Minute Workout.” ©2001. (30 & 29 min.). For a more challenging set of “Get Ripped” videos, see Get Ripped - Advanced DVD has: Narrow screen, Region 1.

Very fun - a great short workout
This was my first Tae Bo purchase. I love these sets. I think they are a blast, I actually look forward to doing them...so much so that I ordered the advanced set. - posted by on 5/3/2005
A great sweat and fun too
I love this workout! and I continue to have more fun the more often I do it. I can't wait to get the advanced series once I master this video. - posted by Kelly on 3/30/2005
Decent workout
I had only tried the first tae-bo basic workout (loved it) before I tried this newer version. It's a pretty decent workout for a beginner like me. The moves are a little strange to me though. They are not the same moves I had known from before, but I didn't expect that really. It's hard to explain. I just felt funny doing them! Maybe the more I do the video, the more familiar they will become. - posted by Trisha M. on 1/8/2005
The best videos I have!!
I loved the first Tae Bo videos, but these are the best!! I actually look forward to doing them and even will do them on my day off, just because I love them so much! You will definatley not get bored by these, and it isn't for the soft-exerciser at heart...these make you sweat!! I will definately get more! - posted by Christine on 6/21/2003
These Workouts Rock
TaeBo II Basic dvd has two 30 minute basic routines and an 8 minute workout. All of these are excellent, motivating, and really get your heart pumping. This is an excellent DVD! - posted by Dawn on 2/17/2003
Great Workout
I really like these tapes. I feel like I get a great workout in only 30 mins. I can really feel it all over the next day. - posted by Danielle on 11/25/2002
Tae Bo 2
When I first received these videos I was totally out of shape. After trying the first one, I was ready to send them back because I couldnt even get through 2 minutes without stopping. But I stuck with it and have so far lost 47 pounds since November 2001. Billy pushes and motivates you just when you're about to give up. I highly recommend Taebo 2 to anyone serious about losing weight and getting fit!! - posted by Lisa M. on 7/8/2002

I was doing Billy's original tapes and having a blast but his get ripped tapes are even better. I have seen definite results and feel great. I get a complete work-out in 30 minutes and I look forward to exercising everyday. Something that I have never, never done before!! - posted by TERRY on 4/23/2002
Great way to get back in shape!!
My son was born a year ago and I exercised after having him until I reached my pre-pregnancy weight; however, since winter hit I have not been exercising and was in desperate need of getting back into shape with a video that would not take a lot of time, as I do not have a lot of time with a little one. These tapes are great. They take a half hour to do and really energize me. I recommend them for anyone who is just beginning to exercise and needing to get back in a workout routine. - posted by BeckyR. on 2/25/2002
Great Work Out
I have been a Tae Bo fan since Billy started advertising. These new tapes are even better than his first one. I haven't exercised in a couple of months and someone bought me Tae Bo Get Ripped Basic for Christmas. It's great for someone getting back into working out. It works all your body parts, including your abs, arms, & legs. It's very easy to keep up with, so you will never get behind everyone else. I recommend this for anyone who is beginning to work out again. This will get you moving, motivated, and in shape! - posted by Kelly on 1/4/2002
Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.

Narrow screen
X
When played on a widescreen TV, this program will show black bars on the left and right sides. On an older 4x3 ratio TV, it will fill the entire screen.
Region 1
X
This DVD is designed for US and Canadian DVD players. It will NOT play in most foreign country players.
Level
X
Beginner: Just starting out, very overweight or haven't exercised in over six months.

Intermediate: Active in sports, dance or any regular exercise (2 to 3 times per week).

Advanced: Very active in sports or consistently work out four or more times per week.

Aerobics impact
X
Lower Impact: Both feet never leave the ground at the same time. This minimizes stress on your knees.

Higher Impact: Includes movements like jumps, hops and skips. Very high-impact is called plyometrics.

Mixed Impact: This alternates or combines the above styles.

Aerobics choreography
X
Basic: The easiest to follow. It ranges from simple walking-style marches to sports and athletic movements.

Complex: More intricate combinations and patterns. They're ideal for people who like to dance.

Moderate: More interesting than Basic, less dancy than Complex.

Toning emphasis
X
Upper body: Arms, chest and back.

Lower Body: Legs, thighs, hips and buttocks.

Abs: Abdominals (stomach), core and sometimes lower back.

Total body: Tones all three of the above muscle groups.

Aerobics & Toning
X
Definition: Includes two workout activities. The aerobics segments are fast-paced standing movements like marching, dancing and jumping. These segments require no equipment. The toning sections are slow, controlled movements working against a resistance. These may include Pilates and weight training.

Benefits: The combination of both activities provides a balanced workout. The aerobics burns calories, strengthens your heart and increases stamina. The toning builds lean muscles, increases your metabolism and makes everyday activities easier.
