Certified instructor description: Two fast-paced, fat-burning videos that intermix a few traditional aerobics moves within the punches, kicks and jabs. Video one’s non-dancy cardio routines also provide some lower-body and ab toning benefits (e.g. working the glutes as you kick). Video two has more variety — more directional changes, new movement patterns and varied kickbox combos. Both programs end with surprisingly challenging lower-body sculpting exercises. Throughout, Billy is moving among the group; coaching, motivating and giving tips on technique — it feels just like you’re actually in Billy’s class. ©2001. (59 & 58 min.). DVD has: Narrow screen, Region 1.

WOW
I am a 47 year old woman who has been active throughout my life. I have done many tae-bo tapes, kickboxing, aerobics, etc and this tape by far exceeds them in the "cardio" category. However, one caveat, as we get older, although we may be in good cardio health, the "old" bod is just not as flexible and adaptable as it used to be...knees, hips, back, etc. and this tape is very hard on these body parts. Perhaps, Billy could do a GET RIPPED version with the intense cardio but less stress on the extremeties. - posted by Pam on 2/17/2006
Total Fat Burner!
Tae Bo burns off more flab than anything else out there, period! I've tried a lot of other workouts, and i very much enjoy yoga and pilates, but when you throw these tapes into the mix, you'll be shocked. I swear, I can tell a difference in the way my clothes fit the day after I do one advanced workout. - posted by Jocelyn on 11/28/2005
Nonstop workout!
I started working out 3x a week with this Get Ripped Advanced workouts since the end of May. My newborn daughter is 3 1/2 months old this week & I already fit into my prepregancy clothes! These workouts deliver results, you will work but it's so worth it! - posted by Aura on 7/1/2005
GREAT! GREAT!
These are great! I have had them for about three years. I love them. I still use them and get winded. Love them! - posted by Mindy on 3/19/2005
Fabulous Work-Out
Billie Blanks "get ripped" tapes are truly the best work-out tapes I use. He is explicit with technique and stretching, and never lets you get too comfortable by surprising you with eight more roundhouse kicks. - posted by LucyKC on 3/13/2005
Motivator
Before giving birth to my son a year ago, I used all the Tao Bo tapes to get in shape when I was not at the gym. I had great results and enjoyed doing them because Billy Blanks really motivates you especially when you feel like quiting. I am now getting back into the tapes and feel great. - posted by Jennifer on 10/28/2004
Great Workout!
These are both great workouts and they reach a lot of good muscles. Billy still has problems doing the same number of reps on each side and sometimes forgetting to do one side (much less in these 2 videos). It's definitely a great sweat and an effective workout for someone who likes a toning aerobic workout. - posted by Amy on 8/24/2004
Fantastic Workout
This is the best aerobic tape I ever tried. I do it faithfully twice a week. (I only do the first workout because number two fell and broke). Kudos to Billy Blanks! I love that the people on the video actually look tired at the end like they've had a good workout...just like me! - posted by Stephanie on 5/6/2004
The best tapes ever
I use these workouts once a week each, with another day picked from the Advanced Live series. It's taken me a good year to get my technique down, but I am finally doing things with the same form and control as the instructors. Nothing I've ever done (and I've been working out for 15 years) has come close to what Tae Bo does for me. Watch your form, don't overdo it (Billy says 3x a week is the max) and you'll strenghten your core and lose fat. - posted by Robert on 3/16/2004
The only workout that works for me
After 5 weeks of doing these videos 5-6 days per week, I've seen amazing results. I actually felt results in the first week and started seeing them as early as week two, but after 5 weeks--just wow, my body has never looked like this before. Not only have I lost the 10 or so lbs. I gained over the winter, but I have definition in my abs and legs that I've never had before, and these videos help develop balance and strength. I did the instructional video a few times and had to walk out some of the sets when I first started, but the variety of levels of people in the video make you feel okay about working to your potential and now I do almost all the reps every time. I've tried other videos: dance aerobics, pilates, yoga, etc. but nothing makes me sweat or ever gave me results like the Tae Bo Get Ripped Advanced videos. - posted by Margot on 2/21/2004

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.

Narrow screen
X
When played on a widescreen TV, this program will show black bars on the left and right sides. On an older 4x3 ratio TV, it will fill the entire screen.
Region 1
X
This DVD is designed for US and Canadian DVD players. It will NOT play in most foreign country players.
Level
X
Beginner: Just starting out, very overweight or haven't exercised in over six months.

Intermediate: Active in sports, dance or any regular exercise (2 to 3 times per week).

Advanced: Very active in sports or consistently work out four or more times per week.

Aerobics impact
X
Lower Impact: Both feet never leave the ground at the same time. This minimizes stress on your knees.

Higher Impact: Includes movements like jumps, hops and skips. Very high-impact is called plyometrics.

Mixed Impact: This alternates or combines the above styles.

Aerobics choreography
X
Basic: The easiest to follow. It ranges from simple walking-style marches to sports and athletic movements.

Complex: More intricate combinations and patterns. They're ideal for people who like to dance.

Moderate: More interesting than Basic, less dancy than Complex.

Toning emphasis
X
Upper body: Arms, chest and back.

Lower Body: Legs, thighs, hips and buttocks.

Abs: Abdominals (stomach), core and sometimes lower back.

Total body: Tones all three of the above muscle groups.

Aerobics & Toning
X
Definition: Includes two workout activities. The aerobics segments are fast-paced standing movements like marching, dancing and jumping. These segments require no equipment. The toning sections are slow, controlled movements working against a resistance. These may include Pilates and weight training.

Benefits: The combination of both activities provides a balanced workout. The aerobics burns calories, strengthens your heart and increases stamina. The toning builds lean muscles, increases your metabolism and makes everyday activities easier.
