Certified instructor description: A varied collection of styles and impact options exceptionally well-integrated with the all-hits music. Like Christi’s class, you’ll be smiling and singing along to motivating vocals like “Oh What a Night,” “We Will Rock You,” “I Love Rock & Roll” and “Heard It Through the Grapevine.” From dancy mambos to athletic jumps, from exhilarating pivots to empowering kicks, the excitement and intensity never fade (no slowed-paced movement breakdowns). It’s a challenging workout, but the back-row exercisers always show easier modifications, and Christi ends the video with a one-on-one instruction of each pattern. Note: DVD includes short bonus warm-up, cardio and abs segments. ©2002. DVD has: Narrow screen.

Christi Taylor's Totally Cool Step

Fun video
I really like this video, it has been a few years since I have done any step workouts and the footwork has taken some time to learn. Everyday I get it down a little bit more, the move master was very helpful. Great workout. - posted by Cindy on 3/28/2013
Fast, fun and challenging
Christi is a superb instructor who cues extremely well. This routine is a whole lot of fun from beginning to end and the songs are great. The students in the class are also really gold and keep me motivated. The moves combine perfectly with the music. On my less energetic days I find this routine a bit hard from a cardio point of view as I am only an intermediate exerciser so I really can't do this on a bad day, but overall I just love it and don't get bored with it as easily as I do with more simple step routines. - posted by Christine on 6/18/2012
My favorite Step Aerobics DVD
I am 56 years old and I do my exercises every other day, inside my home, and in front of the TV. I do both hi-lo and step aerobics. My favorite fitness instructor is Christi Taylor. I love her choice of music and her routine or choreography. It is fun and lively. If you like to incorporate dancing in your exercises then you will love her DVDs. Though you will get a pretty good exercise from her DVDs your legs or lungs or both will not feel like giving up. Here are my favorite exercise DVDs from Christi Taylor. 1.Totally Hot Cardio – my personal favorite among the three. 2.Fantastic 4 Workouts – best value for your money with 4 workouts (2 hi-lo and 2 step) 3.Totally Cool Step – my favorite Step Aerobics DVD. These DVDs are for intermediate and advanced aerobics people. But if you have good stamina and enjoy dancing GO FOR IT. I only recommend exercise DVDs which I normally use. The following are my criteria: •It should have at least 40 minutes of cardio exercises excluding the warm-up, cooldown, and stretch. For both 1 and 3 you should do the Cardio Bonus to get the minimum 40 minute exercise. •There should be at least 3 persons in the DVD doing the aerobics. •Use of popular dance music. •DVD cast show enthusiasm. •Enjoy and look forward to exercising. Both 1 and 3 have exercise tutorials called Move Master. I did not use it. Just went straight to the exercises and rewinding to master the steps. I mastered it on the 3rd day. Christi likes to do spins or 360 degree turns. Even though I wear eyeglasses I do all of her spins. But for newcomers I suggest that you avoid exercising on the rug. Also, do the spins after you have mastered the choreography. This applies specially to spinning on the steps. - posted by Jimmy Suapengco on 6/15/2012
Challenging and fun
Really interesting workout. I enjoyed the choreography. Just challenging enough. All the pivoting is hard to do on carpet, but it's easily omitted. Super! - posted by Deb on 3/8/2012
Very Challenging Choreography!
I have never done a Christi Taylor workout before. She is very likeable and I enjoy listening to her. However, I have been having a really hard time learning the steps to this workout. I have done some challenging choreography and normally prefer it to be hard, since I get bored so easily. This has been almost impossible for me. I have yet to complete the entire thing. I see that Collage rates this choreography as "Moderate", so maybe it is just me. Still, I like the moves and the instructor. I plan to do as much as I can follow, relying on my own moves if I can't figure out hers. Eventually I will catch on. - posted by Margaret on 12/16/2011
Good Step Workout
This is a well built step workout. She builds quickly enough to not be completely repetitive, instead quickly showing then doing the additional steps. This video has lower impact people in the back so you can follow their steps rather than all of the turns that are sometimes harder to do on your joints. Love the video. First time using Christi Taylor, I will continue to look at hers. - posted by Lorrie on 12/1/2011
Super Fun, not too hard to learn
I think this is one of Christi's easier step routines to learn. If you don't like hop turns and spins, it is probably not for you. Great soundtrack with the exception of the first two songs. This is a workout for someone that wants to bring a little joy to their day. - posted by Kat on 10/26/2011
love this one
Ok- you do need to be a good stepper- though once you learn the moves- this is a really fun workout- I really like the set & the music - I normally follow the girls in the back- since I really don't like alot of turning- though with even doing that - it is just fun, fun & I am thoroughly sweating when I am done- great workout - posted by donna on 6/23/2011
Too many spins get in the way of a good workout
I've got nothing against adding some fun and flair to routines with spins and flips - I like them! But Christi's routines are too often one spin after another until I literally feel sick. She doesn't break down the routines to any meaningful extent. I spend too much time trying to figure out what she's doing and not enough time stepping. This one will go on the shelf for a long time. - posted by JoAnne on 6/11/2011
for experienced steppers only
I do more dance cardio than step. I think this would be fun if you know the steppers "lingo" (the names of the moves), but I don't, and found this difficult to follow. I have only watched the move master one time. I only have time to DO the dvd's, not study moves. I didn't want to give this less than 3 stars, as it will probably be fun for me one day, but I will have to get a simpler step video before trying this again. I guess I didn't pay attention to the rating. One of the reasons I got this one was that I hate the electronic muzac that many videos have, and I like that Christy uses real music - posted by Ellen on 4/29/2011

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.
