Time graph for Kari Anderson's Curl

As Kari says, “straight from the gym — a quick, effective, to-the-point ab workout.” The moves are proven classics: a blend of Pilates and traditional abdominal toning. But the feel is different; Kari makes it interesting with tempo changes, tension-releasing stretches and varied sequencing (e.g. an isolated curl becomes a multiple-muscle core-body exercise followed by a faster-paced bicycle crunch). As usual, Kari’s cuing and technique is excellent. After meticulously demonstrating each move, she’ll walk among the class inspiring proper form (e.g. “don’t let that back arch…”). ©2002.

Kari Anderson's Curl

Great Ab Workout
I've had this DVD for several months now and I really enjoy the exercises. They are varied and tough for me...keeping in mind that I have some ab flab :) It is a part of my weekly rotation. Her cuing is excellent and she does a GREAT job building intensity/difficulty into each move. My only complaint is some of her chattiness...there are a few parts that I find to be really annoying. I generally try to ignore Kari's commentary during those few short segments. I do recommend this to others. - posted by Kim on 1/27/2009
Best ab DVD out there
This DVD has made it into my regular rotation. Although I'll occasionally add on another 10 minute ab routine, my abs don't feel like I'm doing them justice till I do this 20 minute session with Kari. Her cuing is excellent, production quality is great, and her pointers during the sets are invaluable for safety and making the most of each exercise. She's far from annoying, but is accessible and down-to-earth. This is my first Kari Anderson DVD and I was quite impressed. Everyone needs this if they're looking for a good ab workout! - posted by Brittany on 1/25/2009
Hoping for a more advanced version of CURL
I received this DVD and have done it twice. It is not particularly challenging in terms of the individual abdominal exercises Kari has chosen. However, collectively, they do pack a punch, and my upper abs, especially, were very sore after the first time I did the workout. I am concerned that after several run throughs, this DVD will become too easy. I am a big fan of Kari Anderson- especially her DVD REACH- one of my all time favorites. I would like to see her create another ab DVD that is more advanced with more active core work in addition to the straight forward gym-style ab exercises she selected for Curl. Wow- imagine a DVD in the style of REACH but specifically for the core and back! - posted by Bella V. on 4/21/2008
great!
I have to say for a 20 minute workout it goes fast! but you are still working hard. I usually will add this on after a cardio or weight workout that didn't include abs. I love the moves, the set and Kari herself. I kinda have to make myself do ab work but I actually enjoy this one! glad I have it in my collection! - posted by Jess on 3/23/2008
Cathe is harder, but Curl is more engaging
I think this is not as difficult as some of the Cathe F ab workouts (including Ab Hits), but it's a lot more fun. The Cathe workouts feel very "disciplined" to me and there is little to no choreography or creativity in changing from one exercise to the next. The Cathe ab workouts have so much repetition that sometimes I just find myself zoning out on autopilot. I do Cathe workouts regularly, and they are effective, but sometimes I'm in the mood for something more pleasant and mentally engaging, and for that, I think the Curl workout is just right. - posted by Barb on 1/7/2008
Focus on form GREAT workout
Kari insists on good form - and she gives simple, easy to follow directions so you can have a great workout. She has such an upbeat attitude, and really motivates you to keep going. My abs are definitely sore after I do her workouts! - posted by Allison M. on 6/7/2007

CLASSIC KARI!
I love doing this video! It's abs AND back, and it's short enough to do after another video! - posted by Sara Goldenberg on 4/18/2007
A good intermediate ab workout
If you are at the high beginner/intermediate level with your abs you will like this workout. Kari uses traditional moves some pilates type moves. I like Kari's upbeat personality & the large class setting. She moves randomly around the class and jokingly picks on certain class members. If you do purchase this workout be sure to purchase another one to alternate as this one gets very repetitious. I outgrew this workout after about 3 months and went on to Cathe's "Core Max", which I love & is very challenging. So this workout is definately at the most an intermediate level. - posted by Christie on 1/16/2007
Love it!
This is a good ab workout to combine with whatever else you are doing that day. Kari gives good instruction on the proper way to hold your abs during the workout. Shows both modifications and advanced versions of the exercises. - posted by Cathy on 3/25/2006
Love Kari
This is a great addition to a cardio workout! She uses different postions than a lot of my other DVD's so I feel it. - posted by Nicole on 1/29/2006

Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.
