Time graph for Tamilee Webb's Fit to the Hits - Motown Moves
A very well-cued video featuring recognizable, high-energy Motown songs. Upbeat and fun, you’ll barely know you’re “working out” as you’re groovin’ to classic Motown hits. From chugs, shimmies and hip sways to freestyle upper-body moves, it feels like a 60’s dance party. Fast/slow cycles and full range-of-motion routines are featured. Songs include “I Heard It Through the Grapevine,” “Signed, Sealed and Delivered,” “This Old Heart of Mine” and “Uptight.” This 1993 IDEA Instructor of the Year makes it all easy to follow with her cue-ahead teaching style (so you always know what’s coming). Songs not by original artists. DVD includes a bonus 15-minute, mostly-toning workout. ©2002. DVD has: Chapter menus, Music only option.

Tamilee Webb's Fit to the Hits - Motown Moves

Not for me
I really wanted to like this workout. I love to dance and I love Motown, but this is a disappointment. I found the choreography boring and the music poor--bad cover versions of well-known songs. And Tamilee didn't motivate me; instead, she got on my nerves (esp when she sang!) There are some positives. It's short (33 minutes) and might be good to get a beginning exerciser moving again since it's not very strenuous. - posted by Anna on 7/23/2010
Fun!
I had a recent injury that put me out of commission for several months. I had to get some new DVD's to get motivated to get back in shape and I started with the "Get Fit to the Hits" and "Tighter Assets". Love 'em! I have only a few fave teachers and Tamilee is definitely one of them. She's always been an inspiration! I like her teaching style, the way she reminds us about form, the actual workouts, the results! I've tried a ton of videos/dvds! (Collage Video is my friend!) I'll keep this in my rotation because it's just fun. As I get stronger I'll use it for either light days or just change the moves for higher impact. But it's really easy to just get into it and dance it up! - posted by Shaz on 3/31/2010
liked the music but....
i have this dvd, and i had a hard time following her moves, should have had some of the dance moves of that era. i wished i would have sent it back. - posted by hard to follow on 3/15/2010
One of my new favorites
I love this video. I am middle-aged with painful knees and a painful back but my cardio fitness is fairly good. And although I've done many exercise classes and videos, I tend to be a bit clumsy and slow to catch on. However, for this video...Tamilee's cuing is superlative, and I caught on to many of the steps the first time through. I get a reasonably good workout with this. It is TONS of fun, and it is one of the few videos with recognizable songs! (I wish there were MORE videos with recognizable songs!) I generally cannot dance well....but I feel like I am dancing with this video. I do have to make modifications for my painful knees and back - but I do with any video, and it is obvious what to modify. One point I wanted to make - I do think most of us are more easily annoyed at people in exercise videos than in other situations. I know I am! Some videos really annoy me! But in this one, personally I perceive the other "gals" to be really having a great time, and it adds to the fun of the video for me. I considered not buying this if the people had irritating attitudes, but I am glad I did, and that is not what I experience with this. - posted by KT on 1/19/2010
Not My Favorite
The music is what prompted me to purchase this video, and I do like the music very much. I thought many of the moves (turns back and forth) were difficult to do on carpet and within my available space. As advertised, it is lively and fun, yet at the end of it I didn't feel like I had a good workout. The choreography may be great for others yet I had trouble keeping up with it. I am 56 years old (which is why I really like the music!), not overweight but would like to lose 15 pounds, and have been exercising about 4 times a week for the last five weeks. Tamillee is lively and her short sing-a-longs are fun, but the attitudes of a couple of the ladies joining her that I interpreted as "aren't I special?" were a turn-off for me. I find myself putting in other videos to get fit. - posted by Pauline on 10/11/2009
Fun, but not for me
I wanted to try a dance workout, and this one looked so great when I previewed it. Plus, it has all the music I love, too. I've tried the workout several times, but I keep having to modify or eliminate steps for my space and carpet, which takes away some of the fun. Maybe I'm just super clumsy, but I also can't seem to get from one step to another in time with the music. I notice that my knees and back ache after I finish the workout, which I don't find after my kettlebell or strength workouts, so I've stopped doing it. Tamilee and the music are great, but if I hadn't let the 30 days expire, I'd be returning this one. - posted by Susan on 9/22/2009
Totally Worth It!
I really enjoyed this video! I appreciate the energy Tamilee puts into this dance workout. Although I'm advanced, I find this workout to be uplifting for my body and spirit. I like to see the serious Tamilee sing, and let loose. After all, we also need to exercise our minds and enjoy our sense of humor. She is a wonderful and professional icon. I trust her training enough to go with her flow. I make it more challenging by making bigger moves, and higher jumps. I really build up a sweat. It's my workout, so i can do all the adjustments to help myself stick with it. I recommend her Rock Hard Assets, its just as affective and fun! - posted by Cynthia on 3/3/2009
Easy but Fun
I'm an experienced exerciser and would not normally do an easy workout like this one. However, it is so much fun because the music is so motivating (a serious element that a lot of instructors and DVD producers underestimate), that I love to do it from time to time, but I add extra impact, hops or jumps whereever it's practical. Sometimes, I wear ancle and wrist weights to make it more challenging. I recommend it. - posted by dusty on 6/30/2008
Favorite!
I keep coming back to this video. I now know the routines so well now that I enjoy doing it without Tami's voice and just the music which is an option in the menu. Although I have a big library of exercise DVDs and tapes this one is a staple for me. It's a half hour has some fun songs gives me a quick upbeat work out without getting wiped out. There is also a good cardio blast option in the menu too which is about 15 minutes to ad some toning if you have time and a set of weights handy. That part works on strengthening your core and improving balance which gets lots of smaller muscle groups, it's a sample from Tamilee's other DVDs. Tamilee is so great, professional perfect cuing without being overly perky. Thank you Tamilee! - posted by MacPherson on 2/15/2008
Great Intro to Dance Fitness
When I first started doing this workout, I had about seven years of step aerobics behind me. I was eager to try something new, and I ended up doing Movin' to Motown nearly every day for a whole summer. Working out to familiar tunes like "This Old Heart of Mine" is much more fun than just trying to catch up with an impersonal beat. I love the Diana Ross-inspired warm-up. The rest of the choreography is not specifically "Motown": I feel like it's an aerobics class with elements of ballet and jazz mixed in. The best part is that Tamilee encourages us to incorporate our own dance style into the movement--for me, even though I'm more dorky than stylish, I have fun and get a really good workout. After I mastered Movin' to Motown and tried out similar videos, I found that Tamilee had provided me with an excellent foundation for dance fitness. - posted by Elena on 9/16/2007

Reading a Time Graph

Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.
