Certified instructor description: Dynamic, full range-of-motion exercises derived from yoga, Pilates, ballet and athletic stretches. It’s exceptionally fluid and graceful but it’s not easy; this is a challenging workout that will build strength, flexibility, balance and body-awareness. You’re in constant motion; you’ll do a pose, tighten, breathe and move on to the next. The focus is on precision and control, with a special emphasis on shaping your hips and buttocks. Kari, a Joffrey-trained ballerina and the 1994 IDEA Instructor of the Year, combines very detailed cuing with a friendly, casual attitude. Note: A little more toning-oriented than the original Angles, Lines & Curves. ©2002. DVD has: Chapter menus, Narrow screen.

Kari Anderson's Angles, Lines & Curves II

Great stretch without yoga
If you want to stretch and tone, but you're tired of yoga, this one is great. Some of the moves seem easy, but there's more there than meets the eye. - posted by Sue on 1/10/2013
A Great Challenge
I find this workout a challenge, not only to the body, but also to the mind. It requires total focus. Kari's suggestion to watch it first is a good one. What makes it workable is Kari's perfect cuing. Her style is also making her a favorite with me. You'll need plenty of space, though no equipment. - posted by Sue on 10/27/2012
Harder than it looks!
This workout looks easy, but isn't. The more you do it, the more you will feel it. Kari's instructions are clear enough that you don't have to be looking at the tv to understand what you are supposed to be doing. At my age, 54, this is a dvd that leaves my muscles humming but stretched. - posted by Vicki on 3/8/2012
Intermediate not Advanced but still a great workout
I was surprised by KG's review as this is no means the worst exercise video made. I thought it flowed well and while not a strenuous cardio workout it is good for toning and flexibility. It isn't close to being and advanced workout but more of a beginner/intermediate. I would like to see more ab work but this is my favorite of the ballet/Pilates type workout. Kari Anderson was my first exercise DVD ever with her GO step workout and I've stuck with her for 4 yrs. She is the absolute best with cuing, challenging choreography but not so difficult you get fed up and quit. I look forward to more Kari Anderson workouts. Five stars all the way. - posted by Kathy on 11/6/2011
ANgles Lines and Curves?
Worst video I've ever bought. Very low level and definitely for an early beginner. - posted by KG on 3/24/2011
Flowing Workout
I love this workout. It flows from one move to the other gracefully. It really stretches and strengthens your whole body. This DVD is a must-have routine to my weekly workouts. Kari Anderson is an excellent instructor. - posted by Holly on 2/20/2011
A 'must have'
An excellent addition to anyone's workout library. I'm 66 and found the DVD very 'doable' yet challenging without irritating contortions only a professional dancer could do. Anderson's voice is pleasant and directions are top-notch. Highly recommend this DVD. Surpassed my expectations. - posted by Arlene on 2/3/2011
Amazing
I have been working out with Pilates mostly intermediate for awhile now and this workout kicks my butt. I usually workout to this DVD 1 a week along with other Pilates workouts and I can hugely tell a difference in my flexibility and balance. Every time I have worked out to this workout I have been sore the same day and the next day. Perfect. - posted by Heather on 6/25/2010
Amazing Angles
I can't say enough about Kari Anderson's workouts in Angles Lines and Curves 2 and also Reach. Kari is a brilliant choreographer, and puts together fusion workouts that engage every muscle in the body. When I read some of the other reviews that are negative, I realized that it is possible that these reviewers do not have the body awareness it takes to make these fusion workouts beneficial. However, if they will give this kind of workout a chance, Kari will teach them body awareness. She will also help to enhance flexibility, balance and strength. It takes practice. One reviewer said she didn't know what these exercises were working, what they were doing for her... well, these exercises work every muscle, like in ballet or even gymnastics. Weight training and cardio are also super important, but without strength work like in Angles Lines and Curves 2 and Reach, the body is not receiving a crucial component of being fit. One can increase balance, flexibility, extension and muscle lengthening, and overall strength, not to mention grace and a feeling of accomplishment in working as hard as one can to perfect the moves. For non-dancers, this will take time. For dancers, it is a few steps beyond traditional body work. GREAT WORKOUTS KARI!! Keep them coming please! - posted by Bella V. on 3/12/2008
Didn't Enjoy
Could have been better if their was a Modifier, which took away from the whole workout. Some of the moves are difficult if you are not flexible. Their are some unique moves, but I was always wondering what that particular move was doing for my body. If you are flexible or have a ballet background this might work for you,but if you need a modifier don't get this one. I Like Reach Much Better! - posted by C..M on 10/24/2007

Reading a Time Graph

Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.
