Certified instructor description: It’s like a stationary bicycle “spinning” class on your treadmill. You get four progressively more intense intervals and a friendly, down-to-earth instructor. The on-screen countdown clock and intensity/speed indicator graph help you stay motivated and always exactly on pace. Throughout the entire program, the instructors’ attitude is always supportive and non-intimidating (“run relaxed”). Only the speed is varied in this program so it does not require a power incline treadmill. ©2003. DVD has: Narrow screen.

Treadmill Challengers

For all Levels
I was very impressed by this video. I am usually a walker and wanted to up my level of intensity but was leery because I had knee surgery a year ago and didn't want to be injured. Once viewing the video I realized that it could be used at any level - walking, jogging, running. I got an excellent workout and am now jogging and my goal is to match one of the exercisers running speed. The only problem is that I get bored with listening to any instructor over and over. This video solved my problem!! Lowered the volume, tuned into my music and watch the lower bars to follow the increases in speed. By changing the base speed and the music I have a video that I will enjoy and will last me forever. - posted by Carmen Q on 8/3/2011
Love it!
I really needed something to motivate me through the winter when I am forced to run indoors - this video has kept me going. - posted by Vicki on 1/20/2011
Excellent workout
This workout has 4 major high intensity intervals of 5 min, 5 min, 10min, and 5 min with 1 or 2 minute recovery between intervals. I've done this workout twice, thinking each time "I'll just do a minimum of 10 minutes". I surprised myself both times and completed the entire video. The time certainly does fly. The workout is as intense as you wish to make it. The instructor calls out increases in speed but you could modify the workout with combinations of speed and incline changes. I highly recommend this video. - posted by jean on 10/7/2010
love this workout
This is an excellent workout for the treadmill, you can increase the mph as needed and the countdown clock is a huge plus I have been using this workout for over 2 months now and my endurance has definitely increased. If you find the treadmill boring try this workout. - posted by helen on 8/22/2010
doable because u set the pace and can be challenging
I got this dvd because interval running is known to help with endurance health stress relief and weightloss. I am new to running interval but I started slow and easy as simple as 2 miles which is like barely walking and increased it by intervals which is like by .1 or .2 . I sweat and I feel great and now I am at 4.0 as base pace. You set the pace. Its doable its fun its challenging. You don't know that 40 minutes went by that fast. And you will want to do it again.its never boring or gets old because as your endurance increases you can increase the challenge by increasing your base pace. I like the little timer and tracker on the screen to see how far I have come and how much I have to go. I also like the fact that there are other people on treadmills at different paces and levels for different reasons which one can identify with. The music is great it gives you the motivation to move. Love it. Beginner or triathalon this video is for everyone. - posted by bindhu on 7/15/2010
use for walk/run inclines also!
I just wanted to add that you can use this dvd in other ways. For example, lately I've been walking inclines instead of increasing my speed. Previously I had always used this dvd for the speed training type intervals it offers. But recently I popped it in, started at my baseline, and increased my incline .5% for every 1% increase in speed that was called for. I ended up with a hard working interval incline workout that was NOT boring. I couldn't do this every day (production is a bit too boring) but it's definitely useful for mixing things up on the treadmill! - posted by ayla on 6/26/2010
Very Solid Workout
The production quality on this video is sub-par, I will be the first to admit it. However, if you can 'handle that' and you 'happen' to have a TV in front of your treadmill ( I do not, I use a portable DVD player), this is a really effective, all-levels workout for the treadmill. You don't have to be in tip top shape, either. It gives all levels and it will be a DVD you stick with. I like this video, quite a bit!, despite the production flaws. I don't get workout videos for production (though Shiva Rea has the corner on this market)...I get them for the feeling of having a personal trainer! And this works! - posted by Erika on 4/22/2010
I love this workout!!
I get bored so easily on the treadmill that sometimes it is such a dread factor getting on it, but not with this treadmill workout!!! I love the changes in speed, the time goes by so fast!! I love the fact that it can be made as hard or as easy as you want it to be!! You zero point can be what ever you want it to be and I think that's great!!! - posted by Pam on 3/16/2010
Great Interval workout!
I love this workout!! The time goes fast doing this 40 minute interval!I would consider myself advanced and was able to get my heartrate around 75-95%! I recommend this workout! Its fun and helps make you increase your training pace! - posted by Dawn on 2/24/2009
Great workout
This workout is the best! The time goes by so quickly and I look forward to getting on the treadmill now. It's one of those rare workouts that gets more interesting the more you use it--probably because my speed and endurance have improved so much since doing this workout. It doesn't matter if you're a walker or a runner, this makes the time on your treadmill fun. - posted by Coach Ken's biggest fan on 10/12/2008

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.

Narrow screen
X
When played on a widescreen TV, this program will show black bars on the left and right sides. On an older 4x3 ratio TV, it will fill the entire screen.

X
Beginner: Just starting out, very overweight or haven't exercised in over six months.

Intermediate: Active in sports, dance or any regular exercise (2 to 3 times per week).
