Certified instructor description: Led by Amy Bento, it’s a truly creative medley of varied total-body exercises. Each of the five 10-minute segments focuses on a different workout technique (you can play the sections separately or program them to play in any order). The segments are: aero/tone intervals, ab tightening, upper/lower-body toning, kickbox aerobics and yoga. Each section features a targeted series of fast-paced movements (with lots of tempo, body-position and intensity variations). Amy’s perfect form and one-on-one cuing is great — like you, she’s having fun while she’s working hard. Requires 5 to 10 lb. dumbbells. ©2009. DVD has: Programmable chapters, Narrow screen, Region 1.

10 Minute Solution: 5 Day Get Fit Mix

Excellent Mix!!! Excellent Instructor!!!
A great mix of cardio, interval training, sculpting, ab workout, kick boxing and yoga in this 10 Minute Solution DVD! Amy Bento Ross keeps you motivated on each of the 5 segments and each 10 minute segment is a great workout! If you love variety in your routine or want something fresh and different, then this 10 Minute Solution DVD is just the ticket! Way to Go Amy! - posted by Pedro on 7/15/2012
a few really good segments
Love the fat-blasting intervals" section--I wish the yoga and kickboxing sections could be eliminated and replaced with segments that are this good. The "lean body sculpt" and "belly fat burner" segments are also quite good. (Hey--three out of five isn't bad.) As other reviewers have noted, it's too bad that the 10-minute solution DVDs have warm-up and cool-down in EVERY segment--such a waste of time. The warm-up and cool-down segments should be separate from the workout segments. - posted by vjw on 1/18/2012
Great Variety. Love Amy!
This dvd has five 10 minute segments led by Amy who works out alone in a nice open set with exercise paraphanalia around the perimeter. You will need dumbbells for a few of the segments. The dvd is fully programmable so you can mix & match as you please. There is an ab, yoga, strength, cardio kickboxing, and interval w/o-all very different and all enjoyable. Cardio Kickboxing: Is a good little kickboxing workout but not super intense because she has to show you each combo slow first (which is pretty standard for KB IMO). I like the workout because Amy combines a lot of the standard kickboxing punches & kicks in a unique way. So not difficult to catch on to but still fun & fresh. Fat Blasting Intervals: Is a nice little calorie burner! You do 1 minute of cardio and then (1 min?) of multilimb strength work. The cardio is fun & lots of new (to me) moves that will get your heartrate up nicely. There is some impact-double knee jumps, jacks, etc. I used 10 # db's for the strength work and it worked nicely. She includes some plank jacks & mt. climbers. Power Yoga: I enjoyed this yoga routine because it moves right along-she talks about moving faster, heating the body, and energy so I agree this is power yoga. You will see warrior 1 & 2, up & down dog, chair pose, etc. Belly Fat Burner: This section also uses dumbbells. The first portion is standing-a dumbbell side bend, 1/2 moon, etc. Then you go down to the floor for some planks, gorilla walks, buttkicks, and other plank variations. I am a fan of Amy's ab work and this is no exception. Lean Body Sculpt: Amy uses 5# db's in this but I used a variety. Its all compound moves- 1 legged squats with a shoulder raise, squat-abduct-OH press, side lunges & slinge, deadlift- rear lat raise, and includes a bit of balance work too. My heartrate was up and I liked the variety in this segment. Overall I would say this is a high intermediate but low intermediates would be fine too. I like Amy and I love the variety this dvd provides. Her cueing and energy are both great here. - posted by lindseylu8 on 12/28/2010
Excellent!
I love Amy and all her workouts. This one is no exception. Its nice to have an intermediate workout from Amy for those "easier" Amy days. She's so encouraging and motivating and down to earth. - posted by Teresa on 9/3/2010
Pretty good!
Overall this is a decent workout! The best sections are the Cardio Kickboxing and Fat Blasting Intervals, they really have effective cardio and toning moves and are intense. I've given it a 4 out of 5 because the Abs section could be better. The standing ab toning with the hand weight aren't really effective toning moves. But overall, a good workout dvd to have. I'll definitely do this a couple times a month - posted by KZ on 12/17/2009
Loving the mix!
This one has everything! Yoga, kickboxing, abs/core, intervals, sculpting and a great instructor. Amy is motivating, supportive and pushes you(or at least me :)) to give it your all. My favorite part is when she says..."You gotta think it, believe it and be it"! This one is my favorite in my collection...love it, love it, love it! Way to go Amy...keep them coming! - posted by Ms.Dee on 12/7/2009
So - So
I have seen lots of positive reviews for her videos, so I finally got one to see what I'd think. Really, this is just so-so and not as much fun as some of the other 10 minute workouts. The new 10 minute solution kickboxing workout for example, is much better. These routines are just OK. There is variety which is nice and Amy has a nice manner about her. But I won't be doing this one, or segments of it, very often. - posted by Robin K on 10/9/2009
This one has it all!
I love Amy, and I love this series. This one is even better than her "Hot Body Boot Camp", because this one has even more variety- it's perfect! From cardio kickboxing to yoga and interval training in between, you'll stay motivated. I have done this one many times in a short few weeks because Amy mixes this workout up just perfectly! My favorite segment is the "Fat Blasting Intervals: Amy is awesome about implementing unique and effective moves. - posted by Molly on 9/30/2009
Great workout when you're short on time
I really enjoyed this workout. Amy is a great instructor and is enjoyable. I felt that these 10 minute sections gave you a good workout in a short amount of time. Or you could do them all together and get one excellent workout. I think that some of the 10 minute solutions DVDs feel frantic because they are trying to fit so much in in a little amount of time but this workout moved at a good pace and didn't feel rushed. - posted by Lisa on 9/16/2009
Great interval training workout
Another winner from the 10 Minute Solutions camp. 3 of the 10 minute sections utilize dumbbells (the instructor, Amy Bento, recommends 5 pounds, but to listen to your body and adjust the weight as necessary) and these workouts combine multi-body part cardio and strength training, focusing on abs, and total body toning. It works by doing a series of reps with the weights, then 1 minute of cardio and repeating with variations for the full 10 minutes. There's a dedicated 10 minutes for cardio kickboxing, which includes some very fast paced moves, then a final power Yoga set. It's a great way of working out, and as I also do the 10MS 'Knockout Body' I can use the weighted pink gloves on the 'Cardio Kickboxing' session, bonus! Getting to work arms and legs at the same time is a brilliant time saver and my only gripe, is the usually very high production values have slipped with the music overpowering Amy's instructing and also, 2 minutes into the 'Belly Fat Burner' workout, the camera angles start to dart around and the focus goes out quite dramatically. I'm genuinely very surprised this wasn't corrected before release, as I've come to expect alot more from 10MS. Once you get used to it though, it doesn't distract from the workout and the dodgy camera work/edit lasts around a minute. Amy is fast becoming one of my favourite instructors as I find her cueing spot on, she's friendly and informative, motivating and really encouraging, 'how about getting a bit lower this time?' plus I'm pleased she's making less references to blood getting in the muscles, (as in her previous DVDs)as this always makes me a little oogy! - posted by Alli on 9/11/2009

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.

Programmable chapters
X
At the beginning of your workout, you can select the exact segments you want to play that day. The DVD will then play all those segments in the order you chose.
Narrow screen
X
When played on a widescreen TV, this program will show black bars on the left and right sides. On an older 4x3 ratio TV, it will fill the entire screen.
Region 1
X
This DVD is designed for US and Canadian DVD players. It will NOT play in most foreign country players.
Level
X
Beginner: Just starting out, very overweight or haven't exercised in over six months.

Intermediate: Active in sports, dance or any regular exercise (2 to 3 times per week).

Advanced: Very active in sports or consistently work out four or more times per week.

Aerobics impact
X
Lower Impact: Both feet never leave the ground at the same time. This minimizes stress on your knees.

Higher Impact: Includes movements like jumps, hops and skips. Very high-impact is called plyometrics.

Mixed Impact: This alternates or combines the above styles.

Aerobics choreography
X
Basic: The easiest to follow. It ranges from simple walking-style marches to sports and athletic movements.

Complex: More intricate combinations and patterns. They're ideal for people who like to dance.

Moderate: More interesting than Basic, less dancy than Complex.

Toning emphasis
X
Upper body: Arms, chest and back.

Lower Body: Legs, thighs, hips and buttocks.

Abs: Abdominals (stomach), core and sometimes lower back.

Total body: Tones all three of the above muscle groups.

Floor aerobics & toning
X
Definition: Includes two workout activities. The aerobics segments are fast-paced standing movements like marching, dancing and jumping. These segments require no equipment. The toning sections are slow, controlled movements working against a resistance. These may include Pilates and weight training.

Benefits: The combination of both activities provides a balanced workout. The aerobics burns calories, strengthens your heart and increases stamina. The toning builds lean muscles, increases your metabolism and makes everyday activities easier.
