Certified instructor description: A varied series of Pilates, yoga and gym-style exercises filmed on a sunny Hawaiian beach. More than just "abs," this program tones and strengthens your entire core and lower back. Each exercise is formatted in a well-sequenced progression. You'll begin with the easiest version, then advance to the more challenging variation (always maintaining a balanced result by working opposing muscle groups). Gilad's cuing is clear and easy to follow; he usually describes and then personally demonstrates the correct form. Requires a medicine ball for some exercises (e.g. holding the ball between your knees). But most routines could be done with a dumbbell. ©2011. DVD has: Chapter menus, Outdoor.

Core Series is the Best!!!
Gilad knows his stuff when working on the core. Get the whole series of Lord of the Abs. He is the Best!!! - posted by Rodel on 2/6/2013
Wonderful
I really like Gilad and this workout. I love the scenery and Gilad's physique is very motivating. I am going to purchase another LOTA workout. My abs are in great need of being strengthened...I found this workout not too easy and not too difficult. I used a 3 pound medicine ball. - posted by Anne on 10/27/2012
Solid Gold
I have been working out to Gilad since the 1980's. I love his great quality sound music that has the perfect beat to set the pace, superb instruction and positive personality, love the slower , intense movements, a very fun and effective work out! Thank you for another great work out! - posted by Sandy on 8/27/2012
A great toning workout for the Abs
This is a well-designed challenging workout for the entire core region. It works the abdominals and the back. Some parts of the workout recommend using the medicine ball, but beginners can do the exercises without the ball. The exercises for the back carefully use just your body weight to strengthen and tone. I love to rotate this with other dvds from the "Lord of the Abs" set. Gilad is my hero. - posted by Michele on 6/14/2012
Not all that great
I've tried this video a few times now, and I honestly can't figure out why people like it so much. I'm a personal trainer and advanced exerciser and my abs and back didn't feel the slightest bit fatigued. It takes alot to make my abs feel the burn, so I had two people who don't workout try this video. They hated it. There is no cueing about which exercise is next, no proper form instruction, and on some exercises, the pace moves so fast that it would be easy for someone to hurt their back. I'm returning this DVD, no thank you. - posted by Jenn on 6/7/2012
Lord of the Abs really works
I have worked out with Gilad for years. His video classes are always so challenging, but his quiet demeanor & great disposition make you want to complete it. The video is hard, I had to do it in 10 minute increments at first. Now I complete the video and feel & see results in my core area. I am so glad that Gilad is back!! He is one of the best. - posted by Joan on 5/28/2012
One Ab Workout to Rule Them All
This is a great ab routine that not only works the abs, but also targets the back heavily (something many abdominal workouts neglect). And if you're using a heavy medicine ball, your arms will get a decent pump as well. My only complaint is there is not a thorough warm-up. The workout simply begins on the floor. Otherwise, this is a fun, challenging, and balanced workout that is worth incorporating into your program. - posted by Sean on 5/5/2012

medicine ball exercises ROCK
When I first viewed this dvd for abs I was excited and impressed. So many great ways to move the ball. Totally builds up the core muscles and back, two very important muscle groups to work in unison. Fun and unique way to exercise with ball weight. Doesn't get boring when you feel instant results. Super workout for cardio as well. - posted by Barbara on 4/19/2012

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.
