Certified instructor description: A high-energy fat-burner with three different dance segments: samba, salsa and jive/swing. It's a great way to have fun, learn new steps and reshape your body. The workout has a fast pace and natural flow (you won't spend a lot of "dead time" slowly learning each move; instead, the basic steps are demonstrated and practiced in the warm-up). The workout begins with a variety of hip shakin', ab-movin' Brazilian samba dance routines. Then it's salsa — from basic side steps and "figure 8s" to "cross salsas" and "lock steps with flick kicks." The jive/swing segment is the most complex; it includes moves like triple kicks, "Suzy Qs" and jump claps. ©2012. DVD has: Chapter menus, Music only option, Close captions, Region 1.

Dancing with Stars: Cardio Dance for Weight Loss

its fun and fantastic
its a fun and fairly strenuous for the uninitiated dancer (me) and hopefully i will see results other than sore calves in a couple of weeks - posted by patty on 3/30/2013
Ok
Surprisingly, I didn't like the womens workout on this-it was too slow. I did like the guy's dance workout/routine but I wasn't going to keep it for 1 workout.... - posted by Rebecca on 2/28/2013
Fun, Fun, Fun
I enjoyed trying my hand at dancing. Although I am sure I look silly, I actually could feel a difference by the end of my first dance. I do 30 minutes, which gives me a good aerobic workout, and helps me to have fun at the same time. - posted by Ann on 2/8/2013
Great Tape
I love this tape. Very good aerobic workout. You will sweat. Just wish the music was like the music on Dancing With the Stars. - posted by Terry on 12/6/2012
Dancing with the stars
This video is o.k. I love the swing dancing in this video the guy that teaches it is really fast, it has taken me about 5 times watching and trying the steps to get it down. I don't really care about the other dances because there are a lot of videos out there that have that similar dance. But the swing dance is really fun once you get the hang of it. This video seems like its old cause you can't forward like the other videos I brought. You get a good workout just from one of the dances I was sweating just from the swing. Each dances is about 20 minutes long. - posted by Lisa on 10/27/2012
Don't have to follow the show to Love this workout
This was a great workout, I loved it. So fun, fast, got sweaty 5 minutes into it and was having so much fun I did not want to quit. Fun moves and wonderful sequencing. This is the video I will go to pull me out of bad moods or use when I am unmotivated. I had no problem following the cueing and I am 52 and have not been into ballroom much before and don't get the tv show. I could do this video 3 times a week and not be bored. I ordered 2 other dance videos and they are being sent back--they just were no fun to do, but this video I will order a second copy for my daughter! - posted by Betsy on 7/21/2012
Fun video!
I really enjoyed this video. My typical aerobic workout lately has been Just Dance on my Wii, which I love and you can make it as intense as you want. Wanting to mix it up a bit, I decided to give some videos a try. This was very fun and a good workout. They build up each of the routines, but it is easy to keep your heart rate up by doing what they have already covered. And they do not spend large amounts of time of basic moves, which can be boring after the first couple of times through a video. While I agree that more contrast between the outfits and the background might be nice, I did not have any trouble following their moves. The 'music only' option is a nice addition; after the 1st time through I used that. You do not need to be a fan of the TV show (I don't watch it) to like this video. If you like dancing, you should try this one. - posted by Anne on 7/5/2012
No stars would be apt
I did not like this video. I found the female instructor difficult to understand. Also, in the 1st segment, she is wearing black against a black background, making even the visuals difficult. Since this is a DANCE video, I that the music would make you want to dance, but that was not the case. I believe there is an option to "turn off" the instruction and hear only the music. Perhaps the music is louder than and more inviting. - posted by Pat on 5/10/2012
Cuing Hard to Follow Because You Can't See it Clearly
I've been dancing to lots of different DVD's available from Collage and even some of the other DWTS's DVD's. I actually really enjoy most of the DWTS's DVD's. In other words, I am not a total beginner. However, I am sending this one back mostly because it is too hard to see the dancers' legs when they are teaching the steps. This DVD moves fast which is okay if you could clearly see the teachers' legs. They are wearing dark clothing against a dark background. Not sure who thought that was a good idea but it makes it really hard to follow along. - posted by Jean on 4/26/2012
Fantastic Dance Workout
This DVD is so much fun! I had a blast doing it and it will be a regular in my rotation. The cuing is good although it could be better in some segments (i.e. letting you know ahead of time which foot will be leading or which direction you will be turning). It's not frustrating to learn the steps and you can catch on pretty quickly. I found the Jive and Salsa the most fun. The Samba was good but nothing compared to the Jive and Salsa. My chief complaint is there is no cooldown or stretch included. There's a good warmup in which you learn the basic dance steps to follow, then comes the dance segments: Samba first, then Salsa, then Jive. After the Jive segment is over the DVD ends. You will have to cooldown on your own or rerun the warmup (which is what I did). You will still need to stretch on your own as there are no stretches in the warmup. - posted by Andrea on 4/17/2012

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.
sample time graph
Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.

Chapter menus
X
You can play only the individual workout segments you want by picking them off a chapter menu (one at a time).
Music only option
X
This feature allows you to play only the music, without any cuing (after you’ve learned the movements and you just want to do the workout without listening to the instruction).
