Certified instructor description: Three challenging workouts that combine creative abdominal exercises with bursts of fat-burning cardio. If you're tired of plain old sit-ups, this series is for you. These innovative moves range from ab-engaged planks and push-ups to core-focused standing routines (e.g. a dumbbell plié sequence that has you rotating and working your entire torso). Each program smoothly builds in intensity. For example, the first workout features a "simple" plank sequence where you're pulling one leg to your nose (it's tough, but...). By the third workout, you're doing the same move at twice the tempo while moving your leg in and out. The aerobic bursts are equally challenging; they include high-impact tuck jumps, mountain climbers and jump squats. Requires two sets of dumbbells (e.g. 3 & 5 lb.). ©2012. DVD has: Chapter menus, Close captions, Region 1.

Jillian Michaels' Killer Abs

It works!
I have several of Jillian's workouts & I love them all. If you're short on time, these are great to get the maximum impact out of 30 mins. The time flies by as you're constantly changing up the moves. She does a good job of mixing in some cardio bursts with targeted ab work. I felt the difference in less than 2 weeks! - posted by Elysia on 4/11/2013
It didn't click with me
I really hated this workout. I did workouts 2 & 3 and couldn't wait for it to be over. You are constantly down on your hands and this workout really doesn't flow. It's very choppy. Some of the moves are unique, but she only does a few reps and then moves on to something else. I like workouts that move along, but this wasn't enough of anything. I would have liked more thorough toning and more cardio. This was just a waste of an hour for me. - posted by Cam on 3/9/2013
Visible Results!
I reviewed this video a couple months ago after doing it for 2 weeks, but I had to come back and say that since then, I've gotten amazing results from this video! Abs have always been difficult for me to improve on, and after having 3 kids, I'd kind of given up hope that they'd ever be great. Using this video (in combination with other videos and clean eating) has given me the visible, noticeable results that I was hoping for. It's fun and you can always make it harder with weights as you progress. Jillian's workouts work! - posted by Kelli on 2/28/2013

Really loved this one
The core definitely gets a workout! - posted by DeAnne on 1/26/2013
I actually like her in this one!
Jillian is in a good mood in this DVD, not pretending to be a drill sergeant or the bad cop. She is encouraging and seems to be enjoying herself, and this made it so much more enjoyable for me compared to many of her other workouts. Some of the moves are new and tough, but the reps are low on the unusual moves -- sometimes too low, as you don't really get a chance to get good at them before they're over. All in all, a good workout. - posted by Ann on 1/24/2013
Great ab ripper
It's wonderful workout quick and effective. I have only completed 1&2. It definitely progressively gets harder. But it is absolutely doable. I live Jillian Michaels workouts. I think I have them all!! - posted by Janet on 1/17/2013
wow
I'm a Firm exerciser but I love Gillian. She is sure not to disappoint, I can count on a short work out that is cardio and strength driven. Who said you have to limit yourself to the floor anymore! - posted by Maritza on 12/23/2012
Another great workout!
I'm a big fan of Jillian's and have been doing her DVD's for almost a year. I found this workout to be another good one that definitely works your core. It's not much of a cardio workout, so I do it in addition to another video or two if I have the time for an hour and a half workout session. I've mastered Ripped in 30 and Extreme Shed and Shred, so this workout was easy enough for me to jump right to level 3. It's still challenging in the way the Jillian videos are, incorporating some old moves from other DVD's with some new moves. I was sore after the first time I tried it, and for the whole week after, so yes it works! I love how you can make it harder with heavier weights and I also add ankle weights to push the "up button". Great addition to your workout rotation. - posted by Kelli on 12/20/2012
ab exercises not hard enough
I felt that as an experienced exerciser, the ab workout was not challenging enough. The reps were not long enough to really feel any kind of "burn"... the moves changed to quickly to be effective. I feel the write up review of the DVD in the catalogue was misleading. If I had the chance to do the DVD first, I would not have bought it. It is definitely not for someone who exercises regularly and is looking for a harder challenge. - posted by Alice on 11/29/2012

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.

Chapter menus
X
You can play only the individual workout segments you want by picking them off a chapter menu (one at a time).
Region 1
X
This DVD is designed for US and Canadian DVD players. It will NOT play in most foreign country players.
Level
X
Beginner: Just starting out, very overweight or haven't exercised in over six months.

Intermediate: Active in sports, dance or any regular exercise (2 to 3 times per week).

Advanced: Very active in sports or consistently work out four or more times per week.

Aerobics impact
X
Lower Impact: Both feet never leave the ground at the same time. This minimizes stress on your knees.

Higher Impact: Includes movements like jumps, hops and skips. Very high-impact is called plyometrics.

Mixed Impact: This alternates or combines the above styles.

Aerobics choreography
X
Basic: The easiest to follow. It ranges from simple walking-style marches to sports and athletic movements.

Complex: More intricate combinations and patterns. They're ideal for people who like to dance.

Moderate: More interesting than Basic, less dancy than Complex.

Toning emphasis
X
Upper body: Arms, chest and back.

Lower Body: Legs, thighs, hips and buttocks.

Abs: Abdominals (stomach), core and sometimes lower back.

Total body: Tones all three of the above muscle groups.

Floor aerobics & toning
X
Definition: Includes two workout activities. The aerobics segments are fast-paced standing movements like marching, dancing and jumping. These segments require no equipment. The toning sections are slow, controlled movements working against a resistance. These may include Pilates and weight training.

Benefits: The combination of both activities provides a balanced workout. The aerobics burns calories, strengthens your heart and increases stamina. The toning builds lean muscles, increases your metabolism and makes everyday activities easier.
