Certified instructor description: A weight-room-style, dumbbell/barbell workout featuring high repetitions of compound exercises. By consistently working multiple muscle groups at once, you’ll maximize your time efficiency while keeping your core engaged (either as a stabilizer or simply “linking” an upper and lower-body movement). Each carefully-designed segment begins with a technique demo plus a review of the weight levels used. Then it smoothly builds in intensity. For example, you’ll start with squats, make them double-time, add the upright rows, pulse them to the music, travel a little… then on to the next segment (often targeting those same muscles in new ways). Requires a step, 3 to 20 lb. dumbbells and a barbell (one person uses only dumbbells). Powerful, “Body Pump-style” music. Also has a short interview with a sports physiologist. ©2006. DVD has: Chapter menus, Narrow screen.

Jari Love's Get Ripped to the Core

Jari Helped Change My Body
Been a Firm Believer for years and years and thought I was in great shape, but with the help of Jari's DVDs, this one in particular (on weights-only days), and some good fueling, I've shed 52 pounds and became very ripped!! I actually look forward to when this DVD comes up in my rotation. Nothing too fancy, ho-hum music, but there's something about her no nonsense approach that motivates me. The video clip here tells it all. If it interests you, this DVD will, too. I have Cathe, The Firm, and Gin Miller weights workouts; Jari is my all-time favorite. I really enjoy the Jari Love Ripped Bootcamp DVD, as well. - posted by Mo on 10/9/2011
Great!
I love to do this workout on those days I can't bring myself to jump around - at the end, I still feel like I have worked out. - posted by EAFN on 9/30/2011
Does the job!
By incorporating other movements into the lifting, it keeps it interesting and you don't notice that you're doing a high number of reps. Great workout! - posted by Pamela on 9/8/2011
Best Jari Video
I have several of Jari's videos, and this one is my new favorite. The compound exercises allow for you to get twice the workout in half the time, and my heart rate was in the aerobic range much of the workout. You get a great core workout because to keep your back supported you must engage it the whole time. I'm also glad that she had an ab section at the end of this video because sometimes she doesn't. This one was very informative, and I will be sure to recommend this video! I did it yesterday and am just a little sore today, but my back actually feels stronger. A must for someone's strength training rotation! - posted by Brittany W. on 5/14/2011
Total Body Workout
Loved this workout. The pace and cuing were excellent and the many, many reps made for a very effective workout! - posted by Donna on 4/14/2011
Get Ripped to the Core, Jari Love
As always, Jari gets you moving, love the way she explains how many calories are being burned, and proper form. Easy to follow, like the different ability levels shown. One of the best videos I own, will use it frequently. - posted by Pam on 12/26/2010
Great lower intensity workout
I normally would have found this workout too easy, but now that I'm 5 months pregnant it's perfect. It's more challenging than "get Ripped & chiseled" as it works more legs and uses compound exercises with the legs. It's not cardio but you do get your heart rate up with the reps. Good for me without all the jumping and bouncing around I'm used to (before pregnant :-)If you are TRUELY advanced just use heavier weights and you'll like the workout. At 5 months pregnant I'm doing all the reps and lifting weights that are sometimes as heavy as the male participant in the video. So, just make sure to have a range of weights. Beginners could EASILY do this workout by using 3 pound weights and putting them down when they are tired. Overall it's good! - posted by Melissa on 10/8/2010
Jari delivers!
This is a great workout using heavier weights, less reps with a good amount of cardio benefits. My muscles shake when I do this DVD, especially the chest press segment with lifted hips off the bench. Really challenging, excellent workout that I've come to expect from Jari! - posted by Sharon on 9/19/2010
Best Jari Yet
This is a great workout, it's challenging, but it flies by. By far my favorite Jari workout. It's not so techno and Jari doesn't take herself nearly as seriously as she does in the others. I loved it and actually felt more energized, not tired, when I was done. Will being doing this one regularly. - posted by Julie on 8/3/2010
Sweating bullets!
Just got this workout and did it this morning. I thought it was a great total body weight exercise. I felt the burn. There are 10 weight segments that are about 5 minutes each. The last is a core/ab segment. Each segment has a list to tell you what muscles are being used, how many calories burned and what weight totals everyone is using. The time went by really fast. When I was finished my t-shirt was drenched, back of hair was dripping. A great muscle burn! I also have Jari's Get Ripped 1000 and Extremely Ripped 1000...both are good and have cardio. This one was nice because I did a big cardio workout yesterday and today I just felt like a great overall weight workout. This one has made it into the rotation. - posted by Firecracker on 8/1/2010

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.
