Aerobics Impact: Mixed

Lower Impact: Both feet never leave the ground at the same time. This minimizes stress on your knees.

Higher Impact: Includes movements like jumps, hops and skips. Very high-impact is called plyometrics.

Mixed Impact: This alternates or combines the above styles.

Aerobics Choreography: Basic

Basic: The easiest to follow. It ranges from simple walking-style marches to sports and athletic movements.

Complex: More intricate combinations and patterns. They're ideal for people who like to dance.

Moderate: More interesting than Basic, less dancy than Complex.

Toning Emphasis: Total Body

Upper body: Arms, chest and back.

Lower Body: Legs, thighs, hips and buttocks.

Abs: Abdominals (stomach), core and sometimes lower back.

Total body: Tones all three of the above muscle groups.

FIRM Basics: 12 Minute Time Crunch Cardio is composed of four workout segments, 12 minutes each. This workout is perfect when you are short on time as an express workout. Or mix and match the segments for 24, 36, or 48 minutes of a total body weighted workout. Each workout has a warm up, either weighted upper body or weighted lower body exercises and a stretch. Beginners use no or lighter weights. Intermediate and advanced heavy up and increase range of motion.

Warm-up: 2 minutes
Workout: 8 minutes (lower body work)
Cool-down: 12 minutes (stretch)

Workout 2 - Janet Brooks
Warm-up: 2 minutes
Workout: 9 minutes (upper body work)
Cool-down: 1 minute (stretch)

Workout 3 - Nancy Tucker
Warm-up: 2 minutes
Workout: 9 minutes (lower body work)
