Time graph for 10 Minute Solution: Belly, Butt & Thigh Blasters
A five-part aero/tone program that comes with a loop-style resistance band. The band is exceptionally easy to use and lots of fun. It boosts the intensity of the body-sculpting routines while adding a toning element to the cardio moves (e.g. side-to-side stepping with the loop around your ankles really works your inner thighs). You get a huge range of exercises — from squats to crunches to Pilates, from marches to jumping jacks to cross-country skiing. Each of the five 10-minute segments targets a different muscle group with different movements (you can program the DVD to play any segment in any order). One-on-one cuing by Jessica Smith. ©2009. DVD has: Programmable chapters, Region 1.

10 Minute Solution: Belly, Butt & Thigh Blasters

Not your usual fare
Jessica Smith has a natural way of instructing and making things interesting. Hits all muscles. Love it!! - posted by Jules C, MSW on 2/25/2010
This is a really GOOD Challenge
The first time I did this DVD, I was sore the next day, but that's a good sign that it's working! This is an excellent program. What I like most is that I can mix and match the workouts so they don't ever get boring. The band provides enough resistance and the exercises are not the "average run-of-the-mill. It's an excellent program I've used many times. - posted by Brenda on 2/17/2010
Fun and Creative!
I love how the loop challenges my lower body. Just like Kristen says it does roll up and down a lil bit but you still feel the resistance. My favorite one is the Lower body makeover segment, the music is motivating and upbeat and I like the fact that it is cardio and toning at the same time. Jessica is an awesome instructor, she's good at teaching you the moves and her cueing is great. Great workout, I'm planning on doing this one often on my lower body days. Thanks Jessica! - posted by Ms.Dee on 12/12/2009
One of the better 10 Minute Solutions
I really really liked this one. I thought the moves were creative and she is a really likeable instructor. The band does roll around a bit but I found it doesn't exactly matter where it is, it is still adding resistance and making the balancing moves that much more intense than if you had no band. I also found that it would only seriously shift when I didn't have enough tension on it, creating more tension would keep it more stable, but it didn't stop it from rolling into a tight rubber band. But I also found that by rolling up, it caused it to be a little tighter and as a result tougher. I would say the band takes a little getting used to, but the moves were great and were definitely enhanced by the band. I really like this one and felt I got a good bun and thigh workout even when I did just 2 segments. I also felt like it kept my heartrate rate up pretty decently, provided I did it after my cardio. - posted by Kristen on 10/30/2009
The loop is a joke.
I love working lower body and I love 10MS DVDS so I was really looking forward to this. Some of the moves were creative and worthwhile but during the next move the loop would get twisted and end up around my knees instead of my shins. Then I'd miss a few reps of the next exercise while I was fixing the dumb thing. My workout time is too precious to deal with such a hassle. - posted by Marina on 10/27/2009
So much fun!
I have almost all the 10 Minute Solution dvds and while they vary quite a bit, I may have to say this is my favorite one yet. I really felt it (the band is terrific, though I used a harder/tighter one I already had) and the moves were all really unique and effective. Each section was different and really creative and I could instantly feel the effects of the exercises. The cardio was fun and worthwhile. Jessica is a great instructor and I had a blast with this workout. Super fun! - posted by Shelley on 10/3/2009
Sculpting routines better than cardio
My favorite 2 workouts on this dvd are the thigh sculpting and butt sculpting. The thigh sculpting involves balance and pilates moves. The butt sculpting is more traditional moves like butt kicks and fire hydrants. The ab sculpting is also traditional moves and you really feel them using the band. - posted by Barbara on 9/9/2009
Innovative and fun
As with the other 10 Minute Solution DVDS, each section targets a different area of the body. The one thing I noticed that is a little different from a lot of the other 10 minute solution workouts is that they do not have a section that focuses on the upper body (arms, shoulders) but instead they divide the lower body into two separate workouts, the Better Booty Camp and Strong Slim Thighs. Better Booty Camp targets the glutes with a variety of moves using the loop that really works your rear end. Strong and Slim Thighs is an effective selection of exercises to really tone the thighs. I found that this section really helped me tighten and work my inner thighs (a personal problem area for me) which I love. Trim and Toned Tummy was a nice variety of ab moves that targets all areas of the abs. The loop was used in ways that I didn't expect, but I was very pleasantly surprised. Lower Body Makeover further works the lower body while adding a bit of cardio. The moves are very fun and unique. Belly Flab fighter is also a second shot to work the abs (as lower body makeover does for the butt and legs) with cardio and sculpting moves. The moves in these 5 10-minute sections were not the same as other workouts, which makes it fun to do. The instructor, which has been used in a couple other 10 Minute Solution workouts, is cheery and motivating. Her cuing and instruction is very good and she is easy to follow. I was surprised by the loop in many ways. I have never used one in a workout before this one so it was a new experience, but I love the added resistance that it adds making the moves more effective. This is a winner! - posted by Rebecca on 8/27/2009

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.

Programmable chapters
X
At the beginning of your workout, you can select the exact segments you want to play that day. The DVD will then play all those segments in the order you chose.
Region 1
X
This DVD is designed for US and Canadian DVD players. It will NOT play in most foreign country players.
Level
X
Beginner: Just starting out, very overweight or haven't exercised in over six months.

Intermediate: Active in sports, dance or any regular exercise (2 to 3 times per week).

Advanced: Very active in sports or consistently work out four or more times per week.

Aerobics impact
X
Lower Impact: Both feet never leave the ground at the same time. This minimizes stress on your knees.

Higher Impact: Includes movements like jumps, hops and skips. Very high-impact is called plyometrics.

Mixed Impact: This alternates or combines the above styles.

Aerobics choreography
X
Basic: The easiest to follow. It ranges from simple walking-style marches to sports and athletic movements.

Complex: More intricate combinations and patterns. They're ideal for people who like to dance.

Moderate: More interesting than Basic, less dancy than Complex.

Toning emphasis
X
Upper body: Arms, chest and back.

Lower Body: Legs, thighs, hips and buttocks.

Abs: Abdominals (stomach), core and sometimes lower back.

Total body: Tones all three of the above muscle groups.

Floor aerobics & toning
X
Definition: Includes two workout activities. The aerobics segments are fast-paced standing movements like marching, dancing and jumping. These segments require no equipment. The toning sections are slow, controlled movements working against a resistance. These may include Pilates and weight training.

Benefits: The combination of both activities provides a balanced workout. The aerobics burns calories, strengthens your heart and increases stamina. The toning builds lean muscles, increases your metabolism and makes everyday activities easier.
