Very fun, lots of variety
I've liked Petra since her Reebok toning video in the early 1990s. This workout is a lot of fun. It has lots of variety in its choreography and music, and she packs a lot of moves into each 10minute segment. These aren't intense sequences, but they are fun, with lots of energy. They work great as add ons to get a bit more cardio or as warm ups before weight training. Or if I'm really pinched for time- I CAN get 10 minutes of fun, dancey cardio! These are also lots of fun and mood lifters after a tough day! Petra's cueing is very good, the music is good, and the steps are so much fun- one of my favorites in the 10 minute series! - posted by Linda on 8/2/2009
Not My Favorite
Petra is one of the best video instructors: great attention to form, pleasant personality, speaks clearly, not too cheerleadery, etc. This said, I did not like this video. The first 10-minute segment was fun to do and after that the routines were boring and my heart rate would not get up high enough. Poor choreography is the main problem here more than anything--these routines just aren't that good. I'd recommend several other 10-minute videos over this one, such as the Salsa one or the Carb-burner one or even the kettlebell one. - posted by Robin K on 5/29/2009
Absolute Favourite
I love dance workouts and this one is now my absolute favourite. I also love the 10 minute solutions format and have most of them. This workout is so much fun! Petra is a total pro and has expert cuing and some truly unique combinations. The time flies by and makes you want to do it again right away! It definitely does help the belly and if you concentrate on making sure your dance moves originate from the abs or incorporate them, you will definitely feel them the next day. If you want a great, heart-pumping workout with lots of fun and creativity in it, then this is for you. I own all the 10 minute solution, and although the other ones are excellent, Petra really has an amazing way of making the workout enjoyable. I am an intermediate exerciser, and I was dripping in sweat with a big smile on my face! It was so much fun, and I really felt like a real dancer. I learned some new dance moves while enjoying myself--all 5 segments flew by! I would give this 10 stars! - posted by Merili on 5/3/2009
So fun, and time flies by!
I have several other 10-Minute Solution DVDs, and I was just about to give up on the series. They haven't always "clicked" with me in the past. But as Petra is one of my favorite instructors, I thought I'd give this one a try. I'm so glad I did-- it was so fun, and the time just flew by. Petra's cueing is excellent, and I was able to pick up on most of the moves pretty fast. There's one move called "The Snake" that I'm not sure I'll be able to do, but Petra assured me in an email that in "one week of doing the snake and you will drop 5lbs of belly fat." So I'll definitely keep it up. Save this DVD for one of those days when you need a pick-me-up, not alot of high-impact but just a fun workout! - posted by Laura on 2/10/2009
So fun
I am a big 10 minute solution fan and am so happy that Petra has done a DVD with them. This is so fun and the perfect fit for my schedule. I have had the DVD just over a week now and have used it every day. The moves are really fun yet not too complicated and the time flies by. Petra's cueing is right on and I never have to guess what is coming up. Also the music is much better than in many other workout DVD's. Probably my favorite 10 Minute Solution
I have had this for two or three weeks and have used it a lot already. It is fun and not too complex. I have lots of the 10 MS workouts, and it is definitely my favorite of the dance workouts, and probably my favorite of all of the cardios. Petra is fun and teaches the combos well without too much boring marching in place. I enjoy doing a couple of sections before or after a weight or kettlebell workout, or on a night that my kids have activities and I don't have much time. - posted by Tammy on 1/28/2009

Reading a Time Graph

Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.

Programmable chapters

At the beginning of your workout, you can select the exact segments you want to play that day. The DVD will then play all those segments in the order you chose.
Level

Beginner: Just starting out, very overweight or haven't exercised in over six months.

Intermediate: Active in sports, dance or any regular exercise (2 to 3 times per week).

Advanced: Very active in sports or consistently work out four or more times per week.

Aerobics impact
X
Lower Impact: Both feet never leave the ground at the same time. This minimizes stress on your knees.

Higher Impact: Includes movements like jumps, hops and skips. Very high-impact is called plyometrics.

Mixed Impact: This alternates or combines the above styles.

Aerobics choreography

Basic: The easiest to follow. It ranges from simple walking-style marches to sports and athletic movements.

Complex: More intricate combinations and patterns. They're ideal for people who like to dance.

Moderate: More interesting than Basic, less dancy than Complex.

Floor aerobics

Definition: Fast-paced standing movements like marching, walking, dancing and jumping. Requires no equipment.

Benefits: Burns calories. Strengthens your heart. Increases stamina.
