Certified instructor description: A dance-inspired fat-burner that’s exceptionally easy-to-follow. It features basic steps taught in a very beginner-friendly format (e.g. you’ll learn the moves at half-tempo, then increase the pace as you add new combos). No complex Latin steps here; these are familiar classics you already know. From Disco and Swing to grapevines and hip rolls, each 10-minute segment features a different music and different cardio-dance style (the last section is lower-body, ballet toning). DVD is totally customizable; it can be programmed to play the sections in whatever order you choose. ©2008. DVD has: Programmable chapters, Close captions.

10 Minute Solution: Dance Off Fat Fast

Definately for beginners but still fun
For starters I think the level for this should be listed as just beginners. That being said I have some pros and cons regarding this video. The cons being it was too easy for me to get a real good calorie burn and the instructor was annoying. (I felt like if I heard her say the words style or sexy one more time I was gonna explode) Pros:Is definitely a good workout for beginners, is just cardio which is good for people who alternate between weight lifting days and cardio days and it was fun so the time flew by. - posted by Colleen on 1/17/2012
Dance Off is fun.
I'm enjoying learning the dance routines and exercising at the same time. I love the 10-minute routines. They can be fitted into whatever time frame one has on a given day, do one, two, or more. - posted by Barbara on 7/21/2011
Looking to Slim Down Thighs?
The Dance Sculpt segment on this dvd is a wonderful workout for your legs. Definitely recommend! I love all the 10 minute solution dvds I have. You aren't committed to one whole long workout. You can pick the segments you like best and focus on the areas of your body you want to work on. - posted by Stacey on 7/27/2010
Pretty Good
In my opinion, all of these 10 Minute Solution workouts are lacking something I can't put my finger on. I just don't find them all that satisfying (and I hate the lack of warmup/cooldowns). I think this is my favorite of the dance series, though. I enjoy the swing dance segment the most, but my heartrate doesn't get all that high during these (I generally do every segment for a long workout). I have some fun, and I think the choreography is easy to follow, but I don't reach for this very often. Only on a day I feel tired and lazy. - posted by Jamie on 3/17/2009
Keep At It
As a beginner to both dance and exercise, I found the workouts extremely hard to follow along with the first few times as the 10-minute format forces the instructor to move too quickly for me to keep up. However, I just did what I could manage, and after a couple of times through each set I was able to keep up much better. Once I got the hang of it, I found the video fun, well-cued, and really good for working up a sweat. This is my first video from the series. I know some people find 10 minutes too short, but to me short is the point. I do not have time for a 50-minute workout most days, and don't have the energy for it when I do have the time. Getting in 10 minutes (or, on a good day, 20 or even 30) is much better than not exercising at all! - posted by Sara on 1/20/2009
Good workout and lots of fun too!!!
I have exercised (of some type) for 35 years, I am 6l years old and do love to dance. This is a workout that can be a beginner workout(for days I don't feel so good) or a faster paced workout on good days. It is easy to follow, I got lost only a couple of times (that's good), I got a good aerobic workout, bit of muscle toning, got to have fun and dance---can you tell I really love it!!!!! - posted by Marilyn on 12/16/2008
Great Dance Workout!!
I am an intermediate exerciser. I really liked this dance dvd because I didn't feel like I was actually doing cardio. Learning the dances made the time go by fast. The flirty fat burner was a lot of fun with the sexy moves. Dance sculpt was my favorite- my legs were burning with "rock the plie". I highly recommend this DVD to anyone looking for fun cardio and dance sculpting workouts. - posted by Sarah on 12/1/2008
Works For Me- Fun Cardio
I have done this workout for a week already and I'm happy to say that I love it. The instructor was a nice surprise ; pleasant and motivating with great form. The choreography was fun ,easy to follow and it made me feel like a dancer. The 10 minute format is excellent because it allows me to make the best use of my time and at the same time it keep boredom away.My favorite segments are the 'simple slim down','dance sculpt' and 'cardio swing dance'.I highly recommend this workout and I'll be dancing to it frequently. - posted by Janet on 10/13/2008
I was expecting it to be more fun than it was
I tried this DVD for the first time today and was sadly dissapointed. I am an intermediate/advanced exerciser and was looking for a DVD that was for fun to help break up the "exercise dread" factor. After previewing the DVD and reading some of the reviews I had high hopes for this DVD. Sadly, I turned it off after just 7 minutes. I tried 2 minutes of 1 segment and switched it to another one before I just couldn't handle it anymore. I don't really know how to describe what it was that I didn't like except the fact that the moves didn't seem to flow together very well. There seemed to be more hoping and jumping than actual dance-inspired movements. I will try to give this DVD another shot in the future, but I have so many others that I really enjoy that I'd rather do. I really don't recommend to anyone to purchase this. It really is not as fun as it looked! - posted by Julia on 10/9/2008
ok
This one was just ok for me. It really bugs me on a dvd when the instructor forgets to do a set of something on one side and the production editors do not catch this before releasing the dvd. In the ballet section she forgets to do a set of leg extensions on the first side. The music was not that good to me and I couldn't get in to it like I do on other dance dvds. I will probably try to do this again or at least a few sections of it from time to time but it's not going to be a favorite. Not like dance of the inches hip hop or Jen Galardi's 10 min solution dance dvds. I think they are better dvds. - posted by Tammy on 9/14/2008

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.

Programmable chapters
X
At the beginning of your workout, you can select the exact segments you want to play that day. The DVD will then play all those segments in the order you chose.
Level
X
Beginner: Just starting out, very overweight or haven't exercised in over six months.

Intermediate: Active in sports, dance or any regular exercise (2 to 3 times per week).

Advanced: Very active in sports or consistently work out four or more times per week.

Aerobics impact
X
Lower Impact: Both feet never leave the ground at the same time. This minimizes stress on your knees.

Higher Impact: Includes movements like jumps, hops and skips. Very high-impact is called plyometrics.

Mixed Impact: This alternates or combines the above styles.

Aerobics choreography
X
Basic: The easiest to follow. It ranges from simple walking-style marches to sports and athletic movements.

Complex: More intricate combinations and patterns. They're ideal for people who like to dance.

Moderate: More interesting than Basic, less dancy than Complex.

Toning emphasis
X
Upper body: Arms, chest and back.

Lower Body: Legs, thighs, hips and buttocks.

Abs: Abdominals (stomach), core and sometimes lower back.

Total body: Tones all three of the above muscle groups.

Floor aerobics & toning
X
Definition: Includes two workout activities. The aerobics segments are fast-paced standing movements like marching, dancing and jumping. These segments require no equipment. The toning sections are slow, controlled movements working against a resistance. These may include Pilates and weight training.

Benefits: The combination of both activities provides a balanced workout. The aerobics burns calories, strengthens your heart and increases stamina. The toning builds lean muscles, increases your metabolism and makes everyday activities easier.
