Certified instructor description: It includes a soft, weighted belt and a programmable DVD that has five distinct dance segments. The two-pound belt rests comfortably on your hips — it boosts the workout's overall intensity while adding an ab-toning element (because your core muscles are engaged to move the belt’s weight). The five, 10-minute segments can be programmed to play in whatever sequence you prefer. They include three aerobic sections and two body-sculpting segments. The fat-burning ranges from flirty, club-style shoulder rolls and hip dips to more traditional aerobic dance moves. The toning sections are also fluid and fun — one is jazz-inspired; the other is ballet-based. ©2009. DVD has: Programmable chapters, Close captions.

If you love to dance you will love this tape!
great workout and fun. I highly recommend it. - posted by Lina on 9/16/2011
Only 2 good ones
I do generally love dance workouts but not so much with this one,I found it a bit boring and not inspiring, too easy.the only routines I liked were the Club one and The Ballet Sculpt. The others just bored me.I much prefer Leah Sarago's Dance off fat fast as I get a higher calorie burn and more of a sweat up from it. - posted by Shelbie on 12/11/2010
LOVE THIS DVD!
I don't usually post reviews but I had to on this one...I'm a Personal Trainer and advanced exerciser (Cathe Friedrich, etc.) but I've had some flexibility issues and back/neck pain from heavy weight lifting. This video has saved my life! It's fun, it sculpts and defines your muscles (esp abs) and has dance moves even a non-dancer like myself can do and feel good about. Andrea is an excellent instructor, adorable and motivating. No, it's not a sweat like crazy workout, but yes you will feel it and burn those calories. :) - posted by Rebecca on 9/6/2010
returning it
I didn't like this one because the moves are not that effective and my knees hurt after doing the exercises. I prefer other DVDs I have ordered from Collage. - posted by Lisa on 6/5/2010
Great Low Impact Workout
Each of the segments on this workout is great. There are 3 cardio segments and 2 toning segments. The moves are interesting but not too hard to follow. The cardio moves get your heart rate up without a lot of high impact jumping type moves. Andrea Rogers has a bright personality and is motivating without being irritating. This is a keeper! - posted by Dina on 4/17/2010
Great whole body workout
This is a great DVD to use either in increments or in its entirety as a stand-alone workout. Her choreography isn't that complex, her instruction is excellent and I found that unlike some other dance instructors, it's very easy to watch her and see exactly what she is doing. I think these workouts get tougher the more you do them, because your effort can be more focused on the movement and less on the choreography. I hate the drudgery of some ab workouts, so this is the way to have fun and do some wonderful toning of the abs, obliques, legs and arms! - posted by jaygee on 2/14/2010
EVERY ROUTINE IS AWESOME!!
I just finished working out to this DVD and I am covered in sweat. I have been using the FIRM tapes since 1993 and decided to add some 10 Minute Solution workouts to my routine. I like this one because of the weighted belt. I can really feel my mid-section getting a good workout. The belt helps me focus on my mid-section and the instructor is really good at reminding you to focus on your abs. I have recently put on a lot of weight and was looking for a good cardio routine, that was low impact, that can help me shed a few pounds before I return to some of my more INTENSE routines, and this DVD does just that. These routines, all 5 of them, focus in on muscles that have not been worked/used in a long time and my heart gets a really good workout from the pure cardio segments. I can also feel my arms and legs the next day after doing this routine. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to add something new and fun to your current routine. Also, I tend to get bored very easily but this instructor is great, interesting, lively and holds my attention...NOT TO MENTION..HER ABS ARE TO DIE FOR. - posted by Yolanda on 1/23/2010
Love It!
I bought this workout as I wanted to start incorporating lower impact dance/floor cardio in with the step and kickboxing I do. I bought this based on all of the good reviews. At first I was skeptical with the belt and all, and when I did this the first time, I was like, O.K. this is not much of a workout. Until it really started going. I really wanted to drop my arms as they were burning and the belt really helps in adding a bit more resistance while working legs and especially the abs and waist. What I LOVE the most is how this workout works the abs and waist Each block is a different style so there is no dread factor at all. Besides getting a really fun dance cardio workout, with moves that are easy to learn and flow well, you do get overall body toning and sculpting. A really nice thing about this workout also, is that if you are pressed for time, you can do just 20 or 30 minutes or even just 10 minutes and get an overall workout, or do the entire workout like I do. It is also great on the days when you want to do low impact. Sometimes the joints just need a break. Also for those that cannot use hand weights due to injury or other issues, you get a great toning workout here using no weights. I highly recommend this one!!! - posted by Jill Sherry on 12/4/2009
A Solid Intermediate Workout
I did this workout for the first time the day before Thanksgiving. The workout is easy to follow and I managed to sweat a little bit. The toning belt is great and I did feel somewhat sore a few hours after doing the video. - posted by Nina on 11/30/2009
LOVE THIS WORKOUT!!
This is my second "10 Minute Solution" dvd. I purchased Andrea's pilates dvd a few weeks ago. I love THIS dvd because of the versatility, i.e., creating whatever length workout I feel like doing. All the choices are fun and easy to follow. I have only done it once, but I was able to catch on to the moves quite easily. I did three of them for a total of 30 minutes, and my heartrate did increase. The better I get with the moves, the more effective it will be. Love this instructor..motivating, but not annoying, and great cueing. By the way, I also love her pilates dvd...a little advanced for me, but I will get!!! - posted by Barbara on 10/18/2009

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.

Programmable chapters
X
At the beginning of your workout, you can select the exact segments you want to play that day. The DVD will then play all those segments in the order you chose.
Level
X
Beginner: Just starting out, very overweight or haven't exercised in over six months.

Intermediate: Active in sports, dance or any regular exercise (2 to 3 times per week).

Advanced: Very active in sports or consistently work out four or more times per week.

Aerobics impact
X
Lower Impact: Both feet never leave the ground at the same time. This minimizes stress on your knees.

Higher Impact: Includes movements like jumps, hops and skips. Very high-impact is called plyometrics.

Mixed Impact: This alternates or combines the above styles.

Aerobics choreography
X
Basic: The easiest to follow. It ranges from simple walking-style marches to sports and athletic movements.

Complex: More intricate combinations and patterns. They're ideal for people who like to dance.

Moderate: More interesting than Basic, less dancy than Complex.

Toning emphasis
X
Upper body: Arms, chest and back.

Lower Body: Legs, thighs, hips and buttocks.

Abs: Abdominals (stomach), core and sometimes lower back.

Total body: Tones all three of the above muscle groups.

Floor aerobics & toning
X
Definition: Includes two workout activities. The aerobics segments are fast-paced standing movements like marching, dancing and jumping. These segments require no equipment. The toning sections are slow, controlled movements working against a resistance. These may include Pilates and weight training.

Benefits: The combination of both activities provides a balanced workout. The aerobics burns calories, strengthens your heart and increases stamina. The toning builds lean muscles, increases your metabolism and makes everyday activities easier.
