Certified instructor description: A just-plain-fun workout, each of the five 10-minute segments features a different hip hop style. You’ll burn some calories as you practice your club dance steps (no hip hop experience required). Kristin Jacobs knows the moves and knows the attitude; her approach is always supportive and casual (e.g. “now let’s try something like this”). She begins with the fundamentals — upbeats, rhythm changes and basic steps like “B-boy cross.” The next four segments maximize the excitement with everything from funk to edgy to street-style. DVD is customizable; you can program it to play any segment in any order. ©2009. DVD has: Programmable chapters, Region 1.

10 Minute Solution: Hip Hop Dance Mix

Fun Fat Burner
I love this DVD! Most DVD's don't give you a choice. If your pressed for time you can do just 1 or 2 workouts. If you have more time you can do them all. You can rearrange the workouts according to your style and taste. Sometimes if I've had a stressful day I put this DVD in b/c its fun and I lose track of time and still get my workout in. - posted by Chloe on 4/24/2012
Fun Workout!
I love this workout. The 10 minute workouts let you do a single workout at one time or customize a couple to meet your needs. Kristin Jacobs is fun and energetic. The music is not as bad as others have said and as far as hip hop, it's one of the better exercise DVD's I've tried. You will work up a sweat and you will have fun doing so. - posted by Tina on 3/30/2012
Fun workout!
I have lots of exercise videos & this is one of my very favorites! Fun to dance to & Kristin is great ~ Hope she does more videos! Also like that Kristin wears a different outfit for the segments. I definitely work up a sweat. Highly suggest this video. - posted by Kim on 8/12/2011
Fun
I like this video because each 10 minutes section has two separate little routines so you don't get bored by tons of repeats. The instructor is very likable, and the routines are fun and easy to follow. - posted by Maggie Hannan on 12/9/2010

FUN and Challenging
I don't have any dancing skills and I just loved it. Kristin keeps it moving and is very good at cuing the moves so you can keep up. The only thing I don't like is they are so short. I typically do the whole video so there's alot of using the remote to skip the cooldowns and move to the next one (but it does say 10 minutes). If she made a longer version I would definitely buy it. - posted by Tracie on 6/24/2010
Having a Blast
I think this is one of the best video workouts I've had. It's so fun! One thing I really like is that it's never boring and I can choose the length of my aerobic workout to fit my schedule. I highly recommend it if you have even a little patience with yourself to learn the hip hop moves. Kristyn really helped me learn the dance moves without spending so much time on teaching that I didn't want to do the video after I learned(the moves). - posted by Connie on 6/24/2010
A lot of fun!
This DVD was a lot of fun and a wonderful change of pace from some of the more difficult DVDs I do. I did break a sweat, but will use this routine on a day I want something fun and easy. I like to do the whole DVD when I am exercising to this hip hop dance mix. - posted by Jill on 6/17/2010
Fun workout!
I'm a fan of the 10 Minute Solution workouts because of my busy schedule. I love dance workouts and this one is really fun. The moves probably aren't as down and dirty hip-hop as they could be, but the instructor is upbeat and demonstrates the moves well. I agree with some of the other reviewers that it's a great workout for days when you don't feel like working out. It gets your blood pumping too, especially if you do all 50 mins. If you're new to dance, might take a few views before you get the moves. I'll often do 1 or 2 of the segments as a warm-up before a more intense workout or heavy weight-work. It's great for warming up your muscles. - posted by Mel from CA on 4/11/2010
I like it
I've done this video twice, so far. But, I'm determined to get the moves down to a "T." I'm also determined to get over Kristin's pitchy voice. Not sure if it's nerves or excitement but whatever it is it seems to affect her breathing, so when she says certain words they grate on my ears.(Sorry to nitpick.) There's no denying her enthusiasm. What I REALLY like are the moves. They raise your heart rate. There's one called the "Swizzle" that I had a little trouble with. To get it straight I have to think to myself: "heel-toe-heel, heel-toe-heel." I like that she introduces two combinations in each 10 minute routine. There's not much in the way of a warm-up and cool-down, but that's pretty typical of "10-Minute Solution" videos. I recognized some of the moves from Julianne Arney's "Quick Fix" video which I found tricky at first, but got the hang of after several attempts. I love how challenging "Hip Hop Dance Mix" is and will continue to do this video and perfect my moves--even with the volume on. - posted by Bklyndeb on 3/21/2010

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.
