Time graph for 10 Minute Solution Kickbox Bootcamp

Expertly led by Keli Roberts, it’s five 10-minute segments, each one with a specific focus. You can do as many, or as few, as you want (the customizable DVD lets you play the segments in any order). It starts with “basic training” — a cardio-paced medley of punches, jabs, kicks and shuffles. That’s followed by “buns and thighs” and “arms and shoulders” — they integrate dumbbells within the kickbox-style toning (often fast enough to raise your heart rate). “Fat burning blast” is the most bootcamp-oriented, from “burpees” and “push-ups” to challenging agility drills. You’ll finish with “washboard abs” — a mostly Pilates-inspired floorwork series. Requires 2 to 5 lb. dumbbells. ©2005. DVD has: Programmable chapters.

10 Minute Solution Kickbox Bootcamp

Solid Workout
Keli is a good instructor. Not hyper, just motivating, intense and technically authentic. As a Mom of 3, I love the concept of the 10 minute workout. The Fat Burning Blast is a well rounded section. This video provides a nice variety of moves including Burpees, and nicely cued kick/punch combos. I also like that she uses weights is the arms section. I practice martial arts so this has gotten a little basic, but it is a great beginner/intermediate video. - posted by T.G. on 3/18/2009
Disappointed
I expected more kickboxing and kickboxing inspired moves. The first segment is the only real kickboxing part of the workout. - posted by FVB on 1/13/2009
Favorite 10 minute solutions DVD!
This is by far my favorite 10 minute solutions DVD! It's a hard workout that is really effective! I especially feel the lower body work out is amazing, and your muscles get sore in all the places you want them to. Definitely a go-to DVD in my collection! - posted by Hayley on 1/9/2009
Good workout
I love the abs section, and like other reviewers have said, the basic training segment is an excellent warmup. She is very focused on proper form. the cardio section is a killer! - posted by Melissa on 11/9/2008
YAY KELI!
FIVE STAR workout!!! And I so agee with AR about the Basic Training 10 minutes -- it gets my vote for best warm up ever. I loved every bit of this workout, including Keli's expert instruction and enthusiasm. I normally wait to do the full workout a few times before reviewing but I was so happy with this that I had to review it ASAP. I have a lot of the 10 minute solutions and some of them are great for add ons, but this one flows perfectly as a complete 50 minute workout from beginning to end. I plan on wearing weighted gloves for this to bump up the intensity next time. I was very impressed. And did I mention how FUN it is!!! Buy this one, and enjoy. - posted by Sam on 9/18/2008
Real quality
I come back to this work out time and again for a great workout. Sometimes I do the calorie torching cardio workout as a warm up to add on to another workout that has a crappy warmup (Firm, I'm talking to you). I recently tried the newer 10 minute solution hot body bootcamp with amy bento which is rated as intermediate/advanced and I think this is on par with that rating. If you really put your all into it, you will be challenged no matter how frequently you do it. One thing about the legs and buns segment: I can't get the form right for the side lunge sidekick part (where she tells you to point your toe out and lunge). I usually just keep my toe pointing forward because it's too awkward otherwise. - posted by AR on 8/30/2008
Keli keeps it real
I love the fat burning blast section and wish there were a few more on there to interchange with the toning oriented workouts that focus more on specific body parts. My second favorite is the buns and thighs portion - also highly aerobic, while toning - and doesn't get stale after doing it a million times (I do this same portion of this dvd at least 3 times a week). As far as direction, Keli is a natural and surpsingly normal (yet highly motivating and professional) force in all 10 minute segments. She instructs thoroughly, and is encouraging, but doesn't get all saccharine and "Cheerleadery", which I appreciate immensely. - posted by Amber on 6/12/2008
Works you hard in 10 minutes
This is not for the beginner. It is a good workout, some moves are difficult and parts do go a bit fast. Keli is motivating, keeps you moving and you will break a sweat in just ten minutes. She does explain moves, so start with basic training. - posted by Lisa on 6/3/2008
VERY GOOD,! WORTH IT!
This work is short and very good, you will feel it the next day. I did not think I would feel anything the next day and I did. you can also make it as long as you want or just mix it up, to do the work outs you want to do. even If it you just do 10 mins, you will feel it the next day. A good buy for people who like kick boxing, when they don't have time, and want to get a good work out.Lily.O, Ct - posted by Lily.O on 5/8/2008
Keli is an inspiration, and you can tailor the segments to your needs!
I love that you can set up these 10 minute segments to play in any order you want. And don't be fooled...10 minutes with Keli is a heckuva calorie burner! Everything is done in precise rhythm with the music and Keli's body is an inspiration. I also love her style. she's never too obnoxiously cute and cheerleaderish, and at the same time she's never too businesslike either. Just the right amount of expertise and enthusiasm! - posted by Jan on 5/3/2008

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.

Programmable chapters
X
At the beginning of your workout, you can select the exact segments you want to play that day. The DVD will then play all those segments in the order you chose.
Level
X
Beginner: Just starting out, very overweight or haven't exercised in over six months.

Intermediate: Active in sports, dance or any regular exercise (2 to 3 times per week).

Advanced: Very active in sports or consistently work out four or more times per week.

Aerobics impact
X
Lower Impact: Both feet never leave the ground at the same time. This minimizes stress on your knees.

Higher Impact: Includes movements like jumps, hops and skips. Very high-impact is called plyometrics.

Mixed Impact: This alternates or combines the above styles.

Aerobics choreography
X
Basic: The easiest to follow. It ranges from simple walking-style marches to sports and athletic movements.

Complex: More intricate combinations and patterns. They're ideal for people who like to dance.

Moderate: More interesting than Basic, less dancy than Complex.

Toning emphasis
X
Upper body: Arms, chest and back.

Lower Body: Legs, thighs, hips and buttocks.

Abs: Abdominals (stomach), core and sometimes lower back.

Total body: Tones all three of the above muscle groups.

Floor aerobics & toning
X
Definition: Includes two workout activities. The aerobics segments are fast-paced standing movements like marching, dancing and jumping. These segments require no equipment. The toning sections are slow, controlled movements working against a resistance. These may include Pilates and weight training.

Benefits: The combination of both activities provides a balanced workout. The aerobics burns calories, strengthens your heart and increases stamina. The toning builds lean muscles, increases your metabolism and makes everyday activities easier.
