Certified instructor description: Two complete Callanetics workouts. The faster-paced AM segment energizes, tones and strengthens your body. The gentler PM program reduces stress as it sculpts and shapes your muscles. Both workouts begin and end with very deep, total-body stretches. The morning program features a variety of pulsed toning exercises (e.g. pulsed leg motions of just one-inch for 50 repetitions). The evening workout is easier -- it has less toning and more stretches (including lots of torso rotations). Both segments were filmed in 1992 at the height of Callan Pinckney's popularity. They use a ballet barre, a high-back chair will work for most routines. ©1992. DVD has: Narrow screen.

AM/PM Callanetics with Callan Pinckney

Great for when you're pressed for time
For days when you are in a hurry but still want to get in your exercises, this is a great video. Callanetics is a great workout and has made me more toned than I've ever been. It's also helped my posture. Because you don't work up a sweat, you can do the evening routine and not have to go take a shower. Yes, it's dated, but is that really a big deal in light of the results? - posted by Julie on 4/14/2013
Callanetics delivers the goods! This is the perfect "add on" format.
I love adding these 20 minute Callanetics sessions onto my shorter cardio or interval workouts. I love that Callan prioritizes relaxation and stretching in conjunction with the famous "pulsed" deep muscle toning exercises, it makes for a great cool down plus powerful muscle shaping. Like many of the reviewers here, I have been doing Callanetics on and off for a loooooong time, nearly two decades. Shamefully, I actually stole her book "10 Years Younger in 10 Hours" from the library in high school (:/) and wore out my VHS copy of the original. I always come back to it eventually, because while I enjoy many other forms of fitness and exercise, Callanetics always gives me the look I'm after. I am short and carry my weight in my lower body, so I never want to add bulk. Callanetics creates the slimmest, leanest lines in my legs and thighs while pulling the booty into a tight round "peach," as Callan is fond of saying! Nothing does it quite as well, and I've done Lotte Berk, The Bar Method, Yoga Booty Ballet, Exhale, The Firm, Kari Anderson, etc. etc. I find I enjoy Callanetics the most when I alternate it with workouts that include a larger range of motion and more cardio. That way, on Callanetics days I find that I truly enjoy the slow, calming pace and the deep, long stretches. I've been doing is so long, I've totally embraced Callan's kooky 80's southern belle style and found myself smiling at her black lace "evening wear" leotard. Just make sure you take the time to get the form right, it makes all the difference. - posted by Aimee on 3/31/2012
wonderful
I love it! I used this video years ago and really don't no why I stopped. It really does work. - posted by Pat on 2/9/2012
Perfect!
I love how this workout is set up in two very different settings for two different workouts. And, one is clearly an easier gentle one so one can also choose difficulty level, although neither is very difficult. Both are effective yet gentle. - posted by Nicoleen on 11/17/2011
Callanetics
I have been doing Callanetics on and off for 30 years, and I always go back to it when I see a problem...and Callan saves me every time. First time was eating and laziness, second time was after childbirth, and now its for menopause pounds...she is the best, and a calm workout, to boot - love my Callanetics!!!! - posted by Teresa on 11/10/2011
Tried and true
I have enjoyed Callanetics for 20 years and I always go back to the original VHS that I have. I like the AM/PM since it incorporates all the exercises in Callanetics in 2 sessions. I have yet to master Super Callanetics, but I am on my way. You definitely have to get used to the overall 80's theme, but it works. - posted by Tracy on 5/26/2011
If I could give this more than 5 stars I would!
Overlook the dated factor in these DVD's and INVEST! Collage Video is fantabulous for carrying these hidden gems. Callanetics ROCKS!!!! I did these back in the 90's when I was in my late teens/early twenties. I'm not sure why I ever stopped (silly me). My Urologist wanted me to start doing pelvic floor strengthening exercises so I decided to go back to Callanetics. WOW!!!! I can feel and see the difference already. If you are curvy and tend to bulk up from a lot of weight training DO THIS WORKOUT! If you can overlook the tights and leg warmers and stick with it you WILL see results! I do this one together. I also do the newer ones and while they are really great too I still like the original workouts the best. These exercises really work! Thanks Collage Video! Great selection and great service! - posted by Kiesha on 4/28/2011
AM/PM Callanetics
This is the most doable and sensible workout that I have ever done. I have done callanetics for over 25 years and as I age the exercises age with me. I would highly recommend this video to anyone at any age. - posted by Penny on 4/14/2011
Like it.
The Callanetics tape, AM/PM Callanetics, is just what I wanted for the limited time I have to exercize in the evening. It is a good workout that doesn't take too much time to cover the basics of maintainence. I find it relaxing and pleasant to do and use it on the days I don't do other exercizes. I practice Tai Chi once a week and do Karate once a week also. On the nites I am alone I use the Callanetics tape. If I were to not be able to do the others, I would use this tape all the time. Very good and won't hurt your back. This is a real plus for me as I do have some back problems. Thanks and sorry it took so long to write this review. Brenda - posted by Brenda on 9/25/2010
Powerful & Time Saving
A wonderful routine for those who just don't have the time to spend 45-60 minutes every day. As with Callan's other dvd's, the moves really DO WORK. Hard to believe that such tiny movements can do much if anything for your body, but they DO. A gem of a dvd! - posted by Cindy on 9/9/2010

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.
