Certified instructor description: A high-energy, fun-to-do step workout with an endless variety of interesting combinations. The fat-burning is non-stop. Amy Bento never breaks the intensity or rhythm by slowing down to “teach” a pattern. Instead, she just keeps layering in new combinations and options (fortunately, her excellent form, cue-ahead instruction — and the 15-minute pre-workout tutorial — make it all doable). The transitions are super-smooth; your feet always seem to end up in the right place for the next combo. The moves are athletic and complex, but never “dancy.” They include repeaters, glides, spins and jumps that often use the entire bench (e.g up, over, around and behind). ©2010. DVD has: 3 premixes (30 to 47 min. alternate workouts), Chapter menus, Wide screen.

production poor, music could be better
Solid Amy. - posted by luli on 5/2/2012
She did again!
I work out with Amy on a daily basis and was very excited to see new amy workouts! Yay! I love her step routines I love that it takes me a couple times to even get the moves down and oh what a challenge! Keep knocking them out Amy! - posted by Heather on 4/11/2012
It's fine if you are from the dance studio sort
I am too old for the fast footwork. This video says advanced and they certainly have that right! It's definitely challenging to follow her steps. - posted by Therese on 4/7/2012
I thought I was ready to advance...
Good music but I could not keep up...way too advanced for me but if you have been doing step aerobics for a very long time you would really enjoy this video. - posted by Yari on 3/13/2012
Great workout!
LOVE this video- Amy Bento is my absolute favorite step instructor. I love the complex choreography because I get bored with exercise dvds very easily- this is one that I will never get bored with! I coudn't believe how fast the time flew! Amy is the best! - posted by Erica on 1/23/2012
Fun!

Good workout
I enjoyed this workout. It is typical Amy-style choreography and cuing, which bothers some people, but I don't mind it. The choreography can be complex, but that is part of the reason I buy Amy's workouts. I look forward to finally nailing some of the more complex moves, it makes me feel like I have accomplished something. It makes me sweat, I burn calories, and I feel great afterward. I only wish that there was a little more bang for your buck, such as an ab workout. On some of her older workout, she even includes a long strength training segment from some of her other dvd's. That would've been nice, but I'm ok without it. - posted by Brittany W on 7/9/2011
amy advanced 4 challenge
i really like this step work out it is fun and gives you a good work out. I dont care if the room is pink or whatever. I like Amy and she gives a good workout and that is all that matters. - posted by kara on 5/31/2011
Great motivating music
This is one of the best step tapes I've ever done. If you like music as a motivating factor, this is the workout for you. The moves are complex and I haven't mastered all of them but I don't even care, I just go back to a basic step for a section. I bought this because I just wanted something different and fun for cardio; this is it for me. I listened to the short preview of the tape and music on Collage's website and liked what I heard, but that short preview doesn't do justice for the music and beats in this video...just amazing! - posted by Faye on 5/29/2011
Just okay
The Preview section does not work for me. I do not need long drawn out instruction in the work out section but watching the instructions in one video section then trying 'Do' the moves in the video is disjointed. The there are moves that are not in the Preview and just appear without any direction. I spend more time standing around than actually moving. Video is kind of disappointing. - posted by Audrey on 5/29/2011

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.

Premixes
X
These are alternate workouts created by the manufacturer. They use the same content as the main program (i.e. the very same video footage). But the sections are re-edited into pre-made alternative workouts that you select from a menu. These are often condensed versions of the main workout.
Chapter menus
X
You can play only the individual workout segments you want by picking them off a chapter menu (one at a time).
Wide screen
X
The program fully fills a wide-screen television screen. Note: These videos will display black bars at the top and bottom on a traditional 4 x 3 ratio TV screen.
Level
X
Beginner: Just starting out, very overweight or haven't exercised in over six months.

Intermediate: Active in sports, dance or any regular exercise (2 to 3 times per week).

Advanced: Very active in sports or consistently work out four or more times per week.

Aerobics impact
X
Lower Impact: Both feet never leave the ground at the same time. This minimizes stress on your knees.

Higher Impact: Includes movements like jumps, hops and skips. Very high-impact is called plyometrics.

Mixed Impact: This alternates or combines the above styles.

Aerobics choreography
X
Basic: The easiest to follow. It ranges from simple walking-style marches to sports and athletic movements.

Complex: More intricate combinations and patterns. They're ideal for people who like to dance.

Moderate: More interesting than Basic, less dancy than Complex.

Step aerobics
X
Definition: Stepping up and down on a platform. The moves range from simple stepping to more choreographed exercises. Requires a step bench platform.

Benefits: Burns calories. Strengthens your heart. Increases stamina. The step helps boost cardio intensity.
