Certified instructor description: A low-key workout that combines bellydance moves with a "lite" hip hop soundtrack (traditional Middle-Eastern instrumentals with a hip hop beat). Designed for sensuous movement — not hardcore fat-burning — it's a fun introduction to bellydance's hip-based dance patterns. Following a gentle warm-up, you'll learn and practice moves ranging from "snake arms" and "hip circles" to "chest drops" to "hip lifts." Then you use those moves in five slightly faster dance combinations. DVD also includes an 11-minute bonus workout that focuses on your arms, chest and back. Throughout, Raina's cuing is clear and easy to follow. ©2003. DVD has: Chapter menus, Music only option.

Bellydance Hip Drop Hip Hop

Belly-flop
I wouldn't say this video is bad but I didn't like that the dancers seemed like they all were moving a little off beat. The instructor didn't explain much. I would look at the other bellydance videos before you purchase this one. - posted by Leah on 3/29/2012
Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.

Chapter menus
X
You can play only the individual workout segments you want by picking them off a chapter menu (one at a time).
Music only option
X
This feature allows you to play only the music, without any cuing (after you’ve learned the movements and you just want to do the workout without listening to the instruction).
Level
X
Beginner: Just starting out, very overweight or haven't exercised in over six months.

Intermediate: Active in sports, dance or any regular exercise (2 to 3 times per week).

X
Lower Impact: Both feet never leave the ground at the same time. This minimizes stress on your knees.

Mixed Impact: This alternates or combines the above styles.

Aerobics choreography
X
Basic: The easiest to follow. It ranges from simple walking-style marches to sports and athletic movements.

Complex: More intricate combinations and patterns. They're ideal for people who like to dance.

Moderate: More interesting than Basic, less dancy than Complex.

Floor aerobics
X
Definition: Fast-paced standing movements like marching, walking, dancing and jumping. Requires no equipment.

Benefits: Burns calories. Strengthens your heart. Increases stamina.
