Certified instructor description: Easy-to-follow exercises deliberately selected — and cued —to make you really push it (in fact, the program's working title was "Push It!"). The format is super-simple. Billy starts with a moderate-pace, eight-count combo. After you're familiar with the pattern, you'll repeat the sequence three times at a progressively faster tempo. Billy also maximizes the intensity with wide-ranging, multi-directional moves (e.g. front-to-back, side-to-side). In addition, he includes some lower-body strength-training and even a few push-ups. Throughout, Billy walks among the class giving hands-on techniqute tips and lots of encouragement ("work it!"). ©2012.

Billy Blanks' Tae Bo Advanced

work it, work it, work it!
I love Billy Blanks and his workouts, as I have now built up quite the collection of his Tae Bo DVDs. I have a couple old, middle and new ones. I love how he incorporates new knowledge of body mechanics to enhance the workouts and he takes the time to explain the why. In this recent DVD, I noticed his daughter Shellie, plays a less prominent role than she used to in the older DVDs. She used to lead the crew, but in this video, Billy is the key leader. He uses Shellie as an example of good form and really pushes her. She is awesome and can really keep the pace and form. The rest of the crew hang in there as best as they can and I focus on Billy and Shellie and try to keep up pace and form. In the end, I am left sweating and feeling like I had a great workout! I think Billy and Shellie make a great team and they enhance each other. I think the moves are fun, a little tricky, and aerobically pay off! I have been doing Billy's workouts for almost 40 days mon-fridays, about an hour to an hour and a half a day and have seen some results in increased tone, endurance and strength. I will continue to try other DVDs of Billy's. I consider this DVD to be intermediate level and am glad I have it! - posted by julie on 5/23/2013
Still got It!!!!
I am enjoying this DVD tremendously. So much fun, and as usual Billy is a great motivational instructor. It had been a little while since I’ve tried my several Billy Blanks videos, but, every now and then you need a little variety. I decided to buy this one a couple weeks ago. Billy is still great!!!! - posted by Nancy on 4/22/2013
Basic & Sweaty
Billy helped me lose my depression weight years ago...and with my father just passing I'm calling on Billy again. He didn't let me down. Great motivator, counting aloud helps me keep tempo and the results are inspiring! (note: there is only (1) place where, in true Billy fashion, he gets so into workout forgets the other side/leg) I simply pause the video and count out the other side. Billy be Good for YOU too!!! - posted by Reba on 3/7/2013
Not my favorite
This is a non-stop, high intensity cardio workout that truly earns the title "advanced". You'll be doing traditional Tae Bo front/back kicks, crescent kicks, arm circles, punch/kick combinations, as well as mountain climbers, jump squats and push-ups right from the start! It lasts around 56 minutes before the cool down starts, so be prepared to work hard. While I've enjoyed other Tae Bo workouts (mostly the old school, red carpet ones), I just didn't click with this one. It filled me with dread and I clock watched the whole time. I should note that, being a low-intermediate exerciser, I don't normally prefer doing high intensity cardio for an hour. It felt like overkill. It kicked my butt though and I have no doubt that it's a true calorie burner that will tone from head to toe (although it doesn't contain any separate toning segments). There didn't appear to be any rhyme or reason as to his combinations either. It lacked flow and fun for me. - posted by Christine on 2/23/2013
Very Effective
This workout really makes me to sweat the shirt, is easy to follow, and can be easily rated as 5 stars, because of the fast way it makes my cardiac level go up and stay on a very nice range between 125 and 140, I like it a lot. - posted by Roman T on 2/22/2013
Enjoyable
I found this workout to be substantial and solid. - posted by Christa on 1/26/2013
THE BEST VIDEO WORKOUT EVER!
All I can say is I have about 4 of Billy Blanks videos and rotate them 4-5 times a week. I LOVE THIS VIDEO. On average I am burning 450-500 calories each workout. It's alot of fun and very effective. I love this video!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - posted by Jenn on 1/17/2013
worst video
Have many Taebo video's and I have to say this is the worst. Its like he was making stuff up as he went along..I would not recommend buying this video. - posted by renee on 1/16/2013
Still a Fan!!!
Billy Blanks never fails to win me over. This is a good throw back to the original Tae Bo. They were and still are a great way to not only get a good cardio workout but muscle toning as well. You will not be disappointed. - posted by Jerolyn on 1/10/2013
Reminds me of old school Taebo
Love this workout. It has the usual taebo jabs, punches and kicks but it was nice to see new variations/combos. The mountain climbers were killer, yes mountain climbers people. Billy is not playing in this one even SHELLY paused..... for a millisecond. I am intermediate exerciser and I will definitely be putting this in my rotation. I have been doing taebo since the 90's and while I love Billy and the crew, there have been few a misses over the years....but this is not one of them. If you are a kickboxing fan look no further this is a very good workout. - posted by Lisa on 1/2/2013
Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.
