Certified instructor description: An exceptionally varied aero/tone interval workout plus a unique abdominal toning series. The interval program moves beyond the usual Tae Bo basics — it includes lots of interesting/diverse combinations along with several new moves (e.g. "tornado punches," "scissor feet"). Even the tempo is varied; each cardio and toning segment starts slowly and then builds in speed, intensity and complexity (e.g. ending with full-tilt "power bursts" or multi-muscle/multi-exercise body-sculpting). The ab toning workout is also different; it's all done in a chair (e.g. a seated ab curl that engages the core by holding your legs off the floor). The cuing is classic Billy — walking among the class offering technique tips and energizing commentary. Weighted gloves are optional. ©2011. DVD has: Wide screen.

Billy Blanks' TaeBo Power

Billy Blanks Taebo Power
I love it - fast moving and easy to follow. - posted by Robbin McCullough on 5/10/2012
Tae Bo Power Hour is tough
This Tae Bo Power hour has NO kicks. Its all punching and lots of toning with 1 lb Tae Bo punching gloves. There is a very tough tricep toning segment that was very challenging with great upbeat inspirational nonvocal music. At first Tae Bo Power reminded me of Ultimate Tae Bo where it starts off slower but at the end which was about 59 minutes, I was so tired and sweating hard. The 1 lb gloves make it much more intense. Especially the speedbags and he does 1 arm speedbags and then both arms. He does add some plyo moves. My heartrate was in its zone throughout the workout. The music is generic, no lyrics but alot more motivating then his previous dvds. Its a Karate do-jo set with wood floors. There is a tough 16 min. ab section that uses a chair and standing ab work. I couldn't hear Billy that well at the end speech at the end of the abs segment, the music was too loud and his mic needed turning up. Overall, its a winner! - posted by Mandy on 2/1/2012
Well Worth the effort!
Good solid workout ~ using the taebo gloves made the workout very challenging. Love this video. - posted by Grisel on 1/20/2012
TaeBo Power
I stopped doing TaeBo workouts several years ago after being in a car accident. Primarily because the old TaeBo routines had movements that were way too jerky. However, I saw a preview for this video and decided to give it a try and I was pleasantly surprised. The workout is pretty good and I did work up a sweat. I especially enjoyed the abs workout at the end of the video. Nice to know Billy Banks is still working to keep things fresh. - posted by Judy on 1/10/2012
Billy's Best in Some Time
This video has a new set, great music with a beat that matches the moves, some new cast members, and best of all, maintains a consistent intensity level. I find a lot of his workouts are uneven in tempo and style (toning, a bit of cardio, long explanations, a little more cardio...). This one builds slowly yet steadily, and then maintains a good heartrate even during toning. This is largely due to the use of weighted gloves and this makes quite a difference. I don't have this type of glove, but use 1-lb. Gravity Grip balls which also work great, keeping your hands in punching position. The toning emphasis is upper body, and boy, he sure knows how to work every muscle in your arms and shoulders! The drills and combos aren't actually anything new, but with the upbeat music, hand weights and presenting drills in different order, it all felt fresh and challenging. The abs section is totally original: it's all done on (through, across, etc.) a chair. He leads you into abs moves you never would have guessed possible in a chair! My ONLY negative...Billy, you've been in the biz long enough now that you should be able to cue "right" and "left" for a viewing audience, as all other instructors do. But this is great enough that I can't hold this against you. - posted by Janny on 12/9/2011
Getting Back to TaeBo
Years ago I had a TaeBo video (probably was a VHS) but I gave it away. I was intrigued by the clip on this new dvd--a light & bright set, upbeat people, and what appeared to be a fun workout. I'm glad I bought it. I wasn't able to do the entire workout with weighted gloves but will keep working at it. Highly recommend. - posted by Carol on 12/6/2011
Tough Power!!!
I am a collector of Billy Blanks DVD's and by far this is one of the most challenging!!! You will be ready to quit at the end of this! Very fun and challenging and love the new music and people! This one is tough! But if you love TAEBO you will love this new one! - posted by Christy on 12/4/2011
Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.

Wide screen
X
The program fully fills a wide-screen television screen. Note: These videos will display black bars at the top and bottom on a traditional 4 x 3 ratio TV screen.
Level
X
Beginner: Just starting out, very overweight or haven't exercised in over six months.

Intermediate: Active in sports, dance or any regular exercise (2 to 3 times per week).

Advanced: Very active in sports or consistently work out four or more times per week.

Aerobics impact
X
Lower Impact: Both feet never leave the ground at the same time. This minimizes stress on your knees.

Higher Impact: Includes movements like jumps, hops and skips. Very high-impact is called plyometrics.

Mixed Impact: This alternates or combines the above styles.

Aerobics choreography
X
Basic: The easiest to follow. It ranges from simple walking-style marches to sports and athletic movements.

Complex: More intricate combinations and patterns. They're ideal for people who like to dance.

Moderate: More interesting than Basic, less dancy than Complex.

Toning emphasis
X
Upper body: Arms, chest and back.

Lower Body: Legs, thighs, hips and buttocks.

Abs: Abdominals (stomach), core and sometimes lower back.

Total body: Tones all three of the above muscle groups.

Floor aerobics & toning
X
Definition: Includes two workout activities. The aerobics segments are fast-paced standing movements like marching, dancing and jumping. These segments require no equipment. The toning sections are slow, controlled movements working against a resistance. These may include Pilates and weight training.

Benefits: The combination of both activities provides a balanced workout. The aerobics burns calories, strengthens your heart and increases stamina. The toning builds lean muscles, increases your metabolism and makes everyday activities easier.
