Certified instructor description: More than just curls and crunches, these workouts feature a huge variety of diverse exercises. You'll trim your waistline -- and make everyday activities easier -- by strengthening all the muscles that flex, extend, rotate and stabilize your torso. The moves are constantly changing, but always core focused. Sometimes, Bob utilizes ab-specific moves like planks, windmills and torso twists. Other times, he uses "lower body" exercises that contain a strong core element (e.g. dead lifts and plyosquats). For even more variety, he also modifies tempos, creates unique exercise progressions and even integrates short "cardio bursts" (which help raise your heart rate). Requires 3 to 5 lb. dumbbells. ©2010. DVD has: Wide screen.

Bob Harper's Totally Ripped Core

so-so
Just wanted to point out to Caroline that I believe the CORE includes both abdominal AND back muscles, though I suspect she was saying this workout made her back hurt but not in a good way. I think the plank move Bob does where you bring your knee in underneath then shoot to the side is extremely awkward when done in steps – I find if I don’t listen to Bob and do the movement in a more fluid fashion it works much better. Actually, that is true for all the exercises here – do them at your own pace to work your back/abs/core without injury. Sorry, I cannot advise anything about the dreadful music and I do agree perhaps Bob could participate a bit more in his own workouts. - posted by Susan W. on 5/12/2012
meh
The exercises are tough, but to do the workout you have to put up with dreadfully boring/irritating music, video talent who lack any semblance of personality and Bob literally only doing one demonstration at the start of each segment before strutting around like the head cock lining up his chickens. And is it me or does he seem to enjoy drawing out the 10-countdown just a bit too much? Worst part was the next day I didn't feel it in my abs but I sure felt it in my back. - posted by Caroline on 5/11/2012

Deceptive
I knew this would be hard, but that is an understatement. This kicked my butt! I just wanted to lay on the floor afterward and not move. I loved it! When it started out, I thought this isn't so hard. Just wait it gets harder. It is worth it though. I would have given it five stars had he shown some modification for some of the harder moves. I made up my own. I do plan on working up to the harder moves though. - posted by Mar on 5/2/2012
HARD!!
This dvd is HARD but effective; the moves are deceptively simple but will have you shaking and sweating like you just completed a bootcamp! My only complaint would be that I wish he had a modification for the move where he squats down, rolls back, then rolls back up to a standing position: I couldn't get this at all and found the move to be very hard on my back but other than that I really like this dvd! - posted by Onebyd42 on 4/25/2012
Loved it, Loved it!!!
The best workout in a while. I was sore afterwards for days. It works your core (like the tape says) and much more. I ordered more of his newer DVD's and I cant wait to work out. - posted by Faina on 3/29/2012
Not for the faint of heart...
The last time I checked, real working out was never meant to be entertaining or "fun" but rather, a real, get down to business, honest to God butt kicking. The moves Bob employs on this DVD are back to basics, tried and true exercises. Bob's Inside Out workouts are the kinds of workouts that help get you shredded. The ones that make you work hard. To borrow a phrase from Bob's counterpart, Jillian, results don't come for free. In other words, dancing and pirouetting around isn't going to get you in peak form. I am an advanced exerciser and have done Totally Ripped Core, Total Body Transformation, Body Rev, Pure Burn Supper Strength and these workouts are for real. If one is willing to set aside any notion of a workout needing to be fun or entertain them, and want to get down to the business of really working hard to change your body, than this workout is for them. I love Bob's in your face but not really in your face style. He's dead serious but motivating and encouraging at the same time. - posted by ARE09 on 3/29/2012
gotta love Bob
i have all his DVDs & i love the man so i'm partial! my core was definitely feeling it in this one - posted by Lisa on 3/24/2012
Gread full body workout
I just ordered this last week and worked out yesterday. I am sore today all over my body, not just lower body. It's a well put tape and exercises are not overwhelmingly hard. You can easily follow it and get a good feeling afterwards. I would definitely recommend it. - posted by Faina on 3/14/2012
Lower body & abs
This really worked, but I should have not selected the intermediate level! - posted by Kennyann on 3/8/2012

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.
